I’m making MrZoot take me to a movie this afternoon. I can’t decide which to see.

1)The Notebook
This was the first Nicholas Sparks book I ever read. I loved it with all my heart and it moved me emotionally in a way no other love story ever has (I am a HUGE sucker for a love story). I have read every other one of his books and been horribly disappointed that they weren’t like The Notebook. Some of the books I even became angry at they were sooooo unlike it. (Message in a Bottle and Nights in Rodanth). My point? The movie looks just as good as the book. *sigh*

2)Dodgeball
I really wanted to see this with LilZoot. This is one of those movies that is even funnier when you watch it with a 9yrold boy (so was 50 First Dates). Unfortunately - his Dad already took him to see it. I really want to see it in a theater so I might as well see it today when LilZoot is still at his Dad’s. Plus - MrZoot would love this one.

3)The Stepford Wives
LilZoot’s Dad also took him to see that movie (huh?). But - he LOVED it. He said it was even better than Dodgeball. Granted, this is the same kid who liked Garfield, but still, he and I have very similar tastes in movies. This is a movie I’ve been wanting to see too - so maybe I should give it a shot.

So - what would you see?

Oh, I really disliked the Stepford Wives, too cheesy, great cast but poor execution, IMHO.

Dodgeball was hilarious. So funny, I usually don’t like Ben Stiller all that much but he cracked my shit up. So funny.

I desparately want to see the Notebook but I’m waiting until I can get together a good group of girl friends. It looks great (mmm… Ryan Gosling) but I don’t know a guy on earth who would let me drag him to that. Your husband is a hell of a guy if he’s willing. I’m all jealous. ;)

Oh the choices! Depends on your mood! I’m always in the mood for comedy so for me it would be Dodgeball!!

  3. Nicole Says:

Of the three, I have only seen the Stepford Wives. I liked it A LOT. The tough thing is,you have three very different movies on your list which would all be good depending on your mood. I am afraid I am of no help to you. Although, The Notebook looks good and so does Dodgeball. Arrrghhh….

  4. bluepoppy Says:

Ha ha — I want to see all three– if it is a matinee– I would say Dodge ball– if it is a night show, I would say The Notebook so you guys could get all dreamy smoochy after — heee– (not that those things are relegated to day and night, of course– I’m just saying).

  5. Oliquig Says:

AHHH! I want to see all three, I am absolutely no help at all. Very sorry. Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, maybe?

  6. Sheryl Says:

I have seen the Stepford Wives, which is cute. I’m not a love story gal myself, but I have seen the trailer for “The Notebook” and it looked like a good love story. I am unfortunately taking my girls to see Garfield today. we’ve seen Shrek and there’s nothing else for the 6 and under set.

  7. Snowball Says:

We saw “Two Brothers” today, about the tiger cubs. It wasn’t bad at all, and some of the scenery was absolutely gorgeous. B (a sensitive boy) teared up a bit and clutched me when he thought the cubs’ mother was dying.

  8. Mir Says:

You CANNOT see Stepford Wives with MrZ. That’s just wrong. Stepford Wives has to be seen with other girlfriends. So cross that right off the list, missy! (Now, I, for example, would be a perfect person to go see Stepford Wives with. As soon as I can walk more than 10 feet without crying, I’ll be right over.)

  9. Rick Says:

    1. On behalf of MrZ: Notebook- chickflick, hello?
    2.Wait for LilZ
3.This is your best bet given the choices.

  10. keepergirl Says:

Of those three, I’d pick Dodgeball. However, my gf and I saw Fahrenheit 9/11 because (as she says) the weekend isn’t complete without some blinding rage.

  11. chlamygirl Says:

    i reckon…

    see the notebook with mrzoot

see dodgeball with lilzoot (if he liked it he wouldn’t mind seeing again, right? and then you also get the pleasure of watching it with a kid or you could take the cutie rayray)

see steford wives with your girlies

  12. DeAnn Says:

I would recommend strongly against “The Stepford Wives.” It was not very good at all, and I couldn’t stop staring at Nicole Kidman’s immobile forehead.

I don’t know about the other two, although I’ve heard “Dodgeball” is low-brow funny, which is not a bad thing.

I will recommend one that you didn’t mention: I LOVED “Coffee and Cigarettes.” See it if you have a chance!

  13. New Jan Brady Says:

You’ve already made your choice, but I saw Dodgeball last night, and loved it. Anne is right - Ben Stiller was hilarious in it. Also? I now have a crush on Vince. Which will last until Keifer returns in January. I smell a summer fling.

  14. Michelle Says:

Aw, dude, I vote Dodgeball. It looks hilARIOUS, and I’m all about the hilarity. The one I can’t wait to see? “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.”

  15. Kim Says:

    Farenheit 9/11. :)
Actually, we were going to see it last night as it opened in Canadian theatres… but it was sold out several hours before show-time. Interesting.

I’d go see Notebook — I LOVE a good love-story. Never read the book but maybe I’ll have to see the flick. Then again… Rob is my default movie-partner, and he was whining that I rented English Patient last night so I can’t see him paying $8.00 to see a love-story.

  16. Angie Says:

I am going to assume that you didn’t get washed away in a flood since you are still posting. Hooray for surviving the rain!

  17. bellabelly Says:

I went to see the Notebook. There was not a dry eye anywhere. It was wonderful.
