A few weeks ago, there was a book meme (remember, MrZ hates the word meme - so I use it often) going around. There was this HUGE list of books and you bolded the ones you read, and then added three to the list. I didnt want to take part in that because, well, its books. And unless it was written by Koontz, Cornwell, Patterson, or Brown - I’ve probably not read it.
But today, Oliquig posted a list I can really dig. Its about MOVIES. My friend Junkie watched all of maybe two movies before she was 18 or so. Most of the 80s movies we’ve all seen? She’ll just get a blank look and be all “Huh? E.T.? Whats that?” or “Elizabeth Shue was in the Karate Kid? Huh?”. If she would get herself a blog, we could all go pick on her for that.
Alas, its up to Type A and I to pick on her in REAL life.
My point? I’ve seen some movies. I love movies. More than diet coke. That’s not true, but I do love them. Here is my list of movies. The ones I’ve seen are bolded, and then I added three more on the bottom. Let me know if there are any non-bolded ones that I need to see.

Hah, I’ve seen all three of your add ons.
How can you not have seen Clueless, its on TBS forty times every other weekend!
And Grease! Same thing!
If you liked Moulin Rouge, you should see Strictly Ballroom.
OMG you have to see the following:
Trainspotting (i love me some Ewan McGregor)
Baseketball is totally dumb, but if you like the South Park guys, see it
the original Cheaper by the Dozen, just for the classic-ness of it
Amadeus, for the classical-ness
The Red Violin, little bizarre but that’s good
Dangerous Liaisons, great costuming
and the three i’m gonna add to my post!
I know you’ve seen Grease….entirely too many times, for that matter.
Ok, now for the listed ones you NEED TO SEE: Trainspotting, Donnie Darko, Mystic Pizza, North by Northwest, Adventures of Priscilla:Queen of the Desert, *Heavenly Creatures, *The Crying Game, *Pecker, & *Dangerous Liasons…the last several being (to me) the best.
OK, just to show you how movie literate I’ve become even though I was oppressed for the first 17 years of my existence? I’ve seen 23 of the movies you haven’t. And of the 27 here that you’ve seen, and I haven’t? 18 of them are 80’s or before…so I’ve been busy watching ever since then!
Ok, I’m done now.
Oh yeah, one more thing…I really didn’t know Elisabeth Shue was in Karate Kid until I read this! I have seen the 2nd one, though.
You should absolutely see Trainspotting, Mystic Pizza, Priscillia Queen of the Desert, Muriel’s Wedding, Big Fish, Lost in Translation, Eternal Sunshine, Run, Lola, Run (great soundtrack), and The Red Violin. I would even loan you the last two, if, y’know, we didn’t live like, a gazillion, miles apart.
ok zoot, put on your most comfy of comfy sweat pants, get your favourite blankie ready, turn the phone down, tell the neighbourhood kids to not come a knockin’, have a large bottle of water and tonnes of popcorn at hand because you are in for a wonderous movie marathon. these are not suggestions, they are MUST SEES (in no particular order):
trainspotting, strictly ballroom, donnie darko, cheaper by tghe dozen the orginal, prascilla queen of the desert, croupier, muriels wedding, chocolat, big fish, amelie, heavenly creatures, the crying game, snatch, boondock saints, lost in translation, life is beautiful, run lola run, the red violin.
Trainspotting,Baseketball,Blade Runner,Snatch,Tank Girl, Blazing Saddles,The Transporter - gotta see those
I keep telling Zoot to watch Trainspotting, but she is stubborn (like me). She has this thing where, if she knows that a child is going to die in a movie - she won’t watch it. I’m the same way with dogs though (I will NEVER watch “My Dog Skip”), so I guess I can’t bitch at her too much I guess.
I guess it’s been a long day at work I guess..
/won’t get it unless you read my previous comment
ABSOLUTELY see Run, Lola, Run and Heavenly Creatures. I am all over this meme!
Okay, either I’m weird (probably) or my husband’s taste in movies has caused me to see (and like) a couple you didn’t bold and no one yet has suggested.
Swordfish - John Travolta. need I say more?
How To Lose a Guy In 10 Days - because, um, Matthew McConaughey?
Of course HTLAGI10D wasn’t hubby’s pick. I just couldn’t pass up MMcC.
i cried big time at my dog skip
You really should see Spirited Away. It’s wonderful. Though I would recommend watching it in Japanese with the subtitles, because the English voice actors just aren’t as good.
God, I’m such a geek.
if you enjoy love movies you would enjoy Somewhere in Time.
Clueless is one of those cheesy rich girl flicks that you have to see atleast once and Mystic Pizza was a goodie as well. : )
I totally thought I was going to be the only one to recommend Mystic Pizza. And Priscilla: Queen of the Desert? One of my top 5 favourite movies of all time.
Boondock Saints is up there too. Uber-violent but very well done.
My recomends? Chocolat, Maid in Manhattan, Big Fish (I’ve heard it’s great and am trying to find time to watch it myself), How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (very, very, VERY funny), Tank Girl (funny in the weird messed-up way), and Empire Records (I can’t believe you’ve not seen that! It’s my favorite on your list of movies)
Just a little input…Cheaper by the Dozen (the original) and
How to lose a guy in 10 days…
You know how many movies I watch…
