Yesterday - there were several of you asking similar questions, or making the same comments on my posts. I thought I should take this time to answer some of them in case more people are thinking/asking the same thing!
Can’t MrZ help with housework/dinner etc.?
Yes, he could, and he DOES when I ask. He got dinner started for me last night while we were at soccer. There are two reasons why I dont ask (unless I’m desperate).
1)He has animal doodie duty. He walks the dogs and changes the kitty litter. With a new dog/puppy? This is more work than usual. He definitely spends as much time with the animals as I do on domestic chores - so that is how we “share” responsibilities.
2)I’m a damn control freak and I dont like the way he does things. Seriously - when I ask him to help? I give him specific instructions. Last night? When I asked him to start on dinner? I told him exactly what I wanted to cook. I dont like the way he does laundry or cleans - so I never ask for help. Its a working system we have. Granted, its a system that perpetuates my Type A personality - but it works, so there.
School is Starting NOW????
Here, in north Alabama, most of the schools are on a type of “Year Round School Year.” This gives about an 8-10 week summer with several week long breaks during the year. I am actually a big supporter of this system. So, we get out the first week of June and go back the first week of August. The county here? Went back the last week of JULY!!
LilZ is an AUBURN fan??!
Yep. This comment was made because of his shirt he wore in the picture yesterday. I also had several emails that mention it. See? I was born and raised in Knoxville, TN. I am a die-hard Vol fan. My ex-husband’s mom (LilZ’s Nana) graduated from the University of Alabama, so they are BOTH (his Dad and his Nana) huge AL Crimson Tide fans. MrZoot? Is also a DIE HARD Crimson Tide fan. College Football season? Kinda tense around LilZ’s life. So, he opted to choose his OWN team instead of trying to choose sides. He is an Auburn fan.
Have I mentioned that MrZ and I got married on the Third Saturday of October last year? Do you know what game is typically played on that day every year? The TN/AL game. Heh.

thats good that you recognize Mr. Z doing other chores and know that you arree a control freak wanting things done a certain way and don’t get all over his case.
jimmy buffett also went to a Mississippi university - the boyfriend’s uncle remembers him playing his guitar in the Hub - but for some reason I think he got kicked out. Jimmy Buffett, that is.
Good for LilZ! It’s always best to go your own way…although I probably would have chosen UGA instead of Auburn

I understand the Type A personality thing - I am the most neurotic person about my house being neat and clean - I know I drive Deb nuts. But she lets me rant and rave so I feel better.

I’m with you on the control freak part. Mr. Belle just does not get it done like I want it,a nd if I have to redo it, why bother?

She lets me do laundry, though. Can you have a talk with her? Apparently she doesn’t have the capital letter “Freak” thing down quite right. Thanks.
Sorry to be totally sexist, but it really is best to keep the men away from the laundry. I’m not sure if they don’t get it or just don’t care, but either way it’s not a good thing.
LilZ chose Auburn b/c he is an especially bright child, and Auburn is obviously the best school in the SEC! Yeah, and b/c he’s my “nephew”!

This is EXACTLY how D is towards me. Which is why I hate doing anyhting and leaving him to do it instead. Becasue if I do it my way? he freggin does it over again. PSHAW.
And I think the year round school thing is a good idea too. Kids get too restless over the summer, and then the school needs better breaks. I only HOPE the schools have AC for the kids. Otherwise it should be illegal.
school is starting here in the great state of Mississippi, so I wasn’t too surprised. And I think LilZ made a good decision to choose his own team and support it. Hooray for LilZ!! I had a great 4th grade year, and I hope he does, too.
True story - my husbands father went to Auburn and was room-mates with Jimmy Buffett before he went big time singer (Jimmy that is).
I, too, have a knee-jerk reaction against men doing laundry. It stems from a traumatic high school incident in which my stepfather mixed a load of colors with regular, generic bleach. Bleached spots all over my favorite t-shirts! Oh, the blinding anger I felt! I have forgiven, but will never forget.
Too funny, I was going to comment on doing my own laundry, since my Step-Dad washed the ubiquitous red sock with all my whites and turned them all pink.
But did Buffett do his own laundry?
I think there’s a reason he never wore socks…

I know what you mean about being a control freak. Gerald likes doing things ‘in his own time’, which seems to mean doing the dishes in the morning. So I’d rather do it myself…
I think LilZ’s choice for Auburn shows a high degree of intelligence not to mention good taste.
