Do you remember WRITING?
Category: Office supply addict |

I just went to Target on my lunch break (I know, BIG suprise) to get a card for a friend of mine. I was in the stationary department and I noticed they have a new line of stationary called “Hot Hues!” It’s everything from Thank-You cards to notepads. They even have package labels and card ornaments! It’s the coolest stuff ever in tons of color and patterns.

Only one problem.

Who the hell would I write to? I mean - would you even know what to do if I sent you an actual LETTER with actual HANDWRITING and a STAMP? Would you just stare at it and wonder what you should click to see what was inside? Would you wonder where the “reply” and “forward” buttons were? Would you worry something had happened to me if I was actually communicating via paper and ink instead of email? Would you fear it was a Ransom Letter since only kidnappers would mail a letter? Or do kidnappers use email now too? Do you still have one of those letter-openers that used to be all the rage? If you had to open the letter with your fingers, would you get a paper-cut and freak out?

My point? I may be writing a few random letters this week on the most adorable neon stationary known to man. If you see one in your mailbox (Your mailbox is that thing at the end of your sidewalk with the flag on it. It used to bring your bills before you went paperless on all of your accounts) don’t panic. I’m not being abducted and held for millions hundreds of dollars. You can open the envelope and not expect a ransom note cut out of magazine letters. And please don’t worry if my handwriting and spelling are a bit atrocious - - I predict that life without the backspace key and spell check will be hard to adjust to.

Wait. Am I right or left-handed?

Just yesterday, my kids got a halloween card (and stickers!) from friends of ours that live out of state.

Friends that have never even met my two youngest, but also remember to send them cards on their birthdays, and at Christmas.

Friends like that rock. And the kids eat it up. It’s a good thing.

So, zoot, got my address? I’ll write back…

    2. But…my mailbox doesn’t have a flag…cause no one loves it. That or because it is big, gray, and metal and requires a key to get into it.
    3. I love the background plaid thing! I just noticed and I love it.
    4. What are card ornaments?

My grandfather wrote my grandmother some of the sweetest letters that truly took you to another place when he was in the army and away during WWII. Also, my grandmother has letters her father wrote her and her mother. They are like a lost art form. I have always enjoyed reading her old letters and I am thankful she kept them.

i send my grandmother notes… nothing exciting, just little “hi, how ya doin’ the kid did this the dog did that” kinda things. she usually will put them up on the fridge for a while (like until someone else takes them down).

you could always have a party and use them for invitations…

Makes you wonder why they teach handwriting anymore. I mean, how often are you kids going to actually write something? They should be doing typing in 2nd grade.
