What Would You Do?
Category: Motherhood |

Remember how I mentioned that the rumor was that “they” say that since Halloween falls on a Sunday this year, we should Trick-or-Treat on Saturday? Well the newspaper printed an article saying that “They” are the cities mayors and that “They” SUGGEST that people Trick-or-Treat on Saturday instead of Sunday. However - several churches are coming out and saying that they Do. Not. Care. because they recognize that Halloween is just a holiday where kids dress up and get candy - nothing more - so there is nothing wrong with Trick-or-Treating the same day you go to church.

So, it should come as no suprise, I’m sure, that we are going to try to go both nights. I’m all for maximizing the QUANTITY of candy we get in order to assure we get a decent amount of high QUALITY of candy.

It’s a science…really.

and a brilliant one at that. I am in awe of the way your mind works..brilliant I tell ya. Anything that gets me an extra Reese’s is A-Okay in my book!

Ugh, I hate all this moving around of Halloween. It seems like it’s happening all over the place. Until “they” go back to letting people trick-or-treat on whatever day the 31st is, I say take advantage of the system.

I just checked the paper and there is no mention of moving halloween here.

Which is good, because the night before is when you go out and egg cars and wrap houses in toilet paper. I’m just saying…

I’m thinking I need to kidnap my youngest brother Saturday in order to up the amount of candy I steal from him! ‘Cuz you know, you need to leave them a good amount of crap after you steal all of their good candy!

one of my friends lives in a town where they voted to move trick-or-treating to the friday before… haven’t heard about what they’re doing in our town yet. then again, nothing wrong with going door to door a day before and after too!

All of the hoop-la lately about sugar and carbs has gotten me thinking that we may just avoid the whole trick-or-treat thing this year. We ingest way too much candy, and I think that I am ready to put a stop to it.

Yeah, right? You knew that was a lie! When my kids are 18? I will still be dressing them up. And, of course, still needing to privately “inspect” their candy. You know - you can never be too careful.

Same thing in my stepdaughter’s area. They are going both nights also. I think it’s stupid to change nights because it’s on a Sunday. But whatever. Two nights of candy kicks butt.

I thought it was so dumb the first time you mentioned it and now I can see that it’s pure genius!!

    Wicked! I like!

I’d try the same kind of thing but, unfortunately, the fundamentalist jackasses (oops, did I say that?) around here who think they run the fucking place have the nerve to think they can tell the rest of us what to do — even though most of them DON’T EVEN CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN.

  10. Mary Says:

Oh yeah, my point being that the city council doesn’t “suggest” anything here. They flat-out tell you to trick-or-treat on Saturday.

I think the kids at my apartment complex are going around on Friday. I think. I don’t remember. That’s the bad part of not actually having kids.

  12. Pamalamadingdong Says:

you know what’s weird? The town I grew up in always changed to day of halloween if it didn’t fall on a Saturday or Friday. That’s just what they did and everyone obeyed.
    Weird

The spousal unit & I are headed to our neighborhood Applebees both Saturday & Sunday evenings. Our kids are both off to college. Whether or not they trick or treat is up to them, but now I have no neighborhood candy debt to repay - and I am NOT running to the door every 6.3 seconds to dump some candy I don’t like into the goody bag of some kid I don’t know. It also seems like most of the kids we get aren’t even FROM our neighborhood. Bah Humbug on the lot of them.

That’s awesome. I say take full advantage of it. For real.
