Category: I spilled something |

Today is MY Friday for this week, is it yours as well? I’m so excited for Christmas (minus the wrapping, of course). Do you know that even though MrZ and I have been together for almost five years, this will be our first Christmas spent with each other AND with LilZoot!? Our first Christmas as a FAMILY. And I get to host Christmas Dinner!

This is NOT my first Christmas Dinner, though. My first was in this apartment, Christmas 2001. My Ex-husband and I had been split for 2 years, but for various reasons including geography, home renovations, and insanity on MY part, I ended up hosting HIS family’s Christmas. Not only was I hosting Christmas Dinner for my ex-husband’s family (which was ODD to say the least), but I blew up a glass casserole dish, I dropped the ham on the floor (served it anyway - heheh), and I spilled Diet Coke in the homemade mashed potatoes (did NOT serve those).

I’m hoping this one goes a WEE bit smoother.

oh man, I did that once, blew up a glass baking pan, with the yummiest smelling pineapple upside down cake in it! My boyfriend at the time was all, it’s ok, we’ll pick out the glass from it…um…NO! I shudder to even think of that. YUCK! You, of course, are awesome, kind, and loving to host something for your ex’s family ;)

It’s my Friday, too. We aren’t making a Christmas dinner, we’re hopping in the Sillyvan tomorrow to go see family (and THEY have to think about dinner)

Hope this one is smoother. I’ll have to try the diet coke potatoes sometime…

    Gross story:
One Thanksgiving, my sisters were helping to clean up (which is odd in itself), and one of them was taking apart the turkey basting pan. It has a plate at the bottom that holds up the turkey and keeps it out of the fat. When she lifted it up, she found a HUGE SPIDER, fully cooked, basting in the turkey fat below. Guess he had crawled in while the pan was in storage and nobody bothered to look in the bottom before cooing the turkey. YUMMY!!

My Friday is tomorrow…until noon anyways. It was supposed to be today, but I am short a few hours and don’t want to take any vacation. We’re spending Christmas with my family, and I’m going to be a bum and not cook anything. I hope my family will like something from the Publix bakery ;)

Diet coke mashed potatoes don’t sound too bad to serve to ex-inlaws to me :)

My Friday is Friday. But then I’m off until the 4th. My birthday.

    Always working on the birthday.

If this helps at all … Before you begin with dinner, have ALL the Zoots clean the kichen and put everything away. Prepare salads, stuffing, mashed potatoes & dessert the night before, and heat the potatoes and stuffing in the oven or microwave.

And have a GREAT Christmas! Woo-Hoo!

  20. Beth Says:

    So that was what, revenge?

  21. Casey Says:

good luck with the dinner thing……and a very merry Christmas to everyone in the Zoot house

One New Year’s eve I was working at a bank that foolishly stayed open until 7:00. Myself and another teller manned the empty drive through windows. The heat shut off to “night” (which means brr!) and EVERYTHING around us closed and ALL of the lights in the parking lot were shut off. It was deader than freaking dead. SO. BORING. AND SO. DEAD.

It’s good to have time off before Christmas, and New Year’s, too.
