I’m always amazed at what fantastic friendships I’ve made in this here blog-world. Janet used her Spidey-Sense yesterday to recognize I was feeling a little blue. She also gives rockin’ gifts that match my personality SO well! AND she’s even helped me pick out the basic design for my Next Tatoo.
Then? Oliquig didnt even FLINCH when I started an email out to her with “Dude.” Of course, that wouldnt have been so bad by itself, but in the follow-up email where I was apologizing for channeling my inner teenage boy from the 80s, I actually used the word “Totally” followed by the phrase “Easy as Pie”…
Heh. I TOTALLY started that email off to you as “Dude….” I’m NOT a 14-year-old surfer boy from the 80s, I swear. But sometimes I feel possessed by one.
removing babble about hosts to use…and they are EASY AS PIE to work with…so it will be a breeze.
Does anyone under the age of 90 use the phrase “Easy as Pie” anymore? And really - unless you’re buying a frozen pie - is it really that easy? Regardless, she didnt flinch at that either. Of course - maybe she is just accepting my schizophrenia as fact and no longer questioning the derivatives of my slang.

As I wrote back, I routinely refer to people/animals as Dude. Not only that, I was thinking about it later, and I especially call people Dude when I am pissed about how bad they drive: Dude! Those white lines, are called lanes! Stay in yours.
I will say that out loud. Whether I’m in the car by myself or not.
that is totally tubular….I know feel the urge to go and watch “Valley Girl” like totally gag me with a spoon ok….
well, you know, I was watching Ellen yesterday…and it was a rerun, but…her monologue was discussing the phrase “easy as pie” and how it really isn’t that easy…
and so…you, in some way, must be like Ellen.
On the pie question, it depends. If you’re talking about eating, then yes, pie is very easy indeed. If you’re talking about making it, well, it’s not quite as easy as eating it, but almost. Reeeeeally close.
On the Dude question…I picked up my own dude habit when I worked for Tower Books in Philadelphia and 3/4 of our opening crew were transfers from Sacramento. Somehow it’s just so easy to fall into it. Then The Big Lebowski came out, and I felt vindicated.
I always say “Easy Like Cake”, and “Piece of Pie”
What movie did that come from, anyone?
Well, your BARELY under 90 mom uses both “dude” and easy as pie all the time. **sigh**
Sixteen Candles?
Easy as pie, I thought, was a Southern saying. Sounds better with the twang, too…
*blush…I use it. Either “easy as pie” or “easy as punch”. I don’t know why I do. Must be the southern influence!
I don’t say “Easy as Pie,” but, uh, I have been known to say a “Good Gravy!” in place of “Holy Shit!” from time to time.
Just call me Blanche.
Love the tat and as for Dude? That’s my son’s nickname because we use it ALL the damn time. I don’t think the hour goes by that it doesn’t cross my lips. And just to reinforce Bakerina’s comment, I’m just down the road from Sacramento! *blushing*
Heh. I say “dude” and “totally” all.the.time. I even call my mom “dude” when I’m trying to explain something to her. She HATES it.
Hey Dude! Blog on!
Dude, I usually say Piece of Cake, but I think Good Gravy would be a great addition to my vocabulary. It’s funny what we pick up, last year this girl I used to work with started saying “shit the bed” when things just didn’t work our…I kept getting a visual..Ugh.
Dude! You are still totally cool in my book!
By the way, how was the movie yesterday?
Dude? 80’s? Really? Our developer group is called “the dudes (& dudette)”. I was reading some report off of CNN that Dude is still very much in!
Dude!
Dude, I must’ve used ‘dude’ 3,000 times today while driving, also the eff word & gay, altho I don’t know why! Hugs!
I don’t know if you’ve noticed …but I use Dude quite a bit…..I just can’t seem to find my way out of the ’90’s
but “easy as pie”?…haven’t heard that one in a while
I promise not to laugh at your easy as pie if you don’t laugh when I call you dude..hehe
That is a very cool tatoo design. Does it have any special significance. I have met Janet and trust me she is just as cool if not WAY cooler in person than via blog. Really you need to come to Boston and meet Janet and me and others such. Ohh we would have such fun. Happy New Year!
Dude…how about, “Piece of cake!” One of my favorite lines. Hope your feeling less blue, and more like a dusty purple ;o)
Dude, it’s easy as pie to see why we get along so well. We talk so much alike
My 70 something grandpa says Dude all the time. It’ freakin hilarious because he so wasn’t a teen surfer boy in the 80’s.
I sometimes say “Easy Peezy” because I’ve seen the Naked Chef one too many times.
I’ve also been known to say “Bam!” at random moments just to keep people on their toes. And, of course, when we’re taking it up a notch.
Got cable?
