It’s like 50 degrees and sunny as HELL here people! And it’s only 9:30am. So I’m doing some spring cleaning. I’m going through those “junk” areas of the house where I hide stuff from myself and throwing the crap away. MrZoot would keep everything forEVER, whereas I would throw everything away after a month of no use. To compromise? I sneak and throw things away when he’s not looking.
I keed! I keed!
But I do have a theory that - if we’re moving in August - I do NOT want to just box stuff up because it’s HERE. I want to box stuff up because we want it to go with us. So, I’m taking some time now to get rid of stuff that has no USE or SENTIMENTAL VALUE (to ME of course, EVERYTHING has sentimental value to MrZ).
Want to help? There’s a junk drawer calling your name!

You go, girl! We’re doing much of the same here… getting ready to put our house on the market in the next week or so. Lots of tossing out, or at least sending things to storage so that the house is easier to keep clean (with 4 kids in it 24/7, it’s no easy task!).
Can you box up some of that warmth and send my way?….It’s much needed here!
I think the problem is that guys aren’t allowed to be mushy outside the home, so they get all mushy about ratty t-shirts and won’t give them up.
At least that’s what I say when I box up The Boy’s shirts so that he can slowly let go…
I would do it for you, but I’m just too tired. At 6:30 this morning I started painting the trim in my kitchen. I just finished an hour ago. Talk to me on Wednesday when I’m recovered.
We must have the same sickness today. I’ve been spring cleaning too
I’m trying to preserve the cosmic balance by sitting on my ass and not doing a damn thing around the house.
It doesn’t feel like spring, so I don’t have to clean. I just made that up. Justification is a thing for me.
Just call those “Clean Sweep” bastages and let them shame you into throwing everything important you’ve ever had in your life away. And after they leave you can go find all your crap and stuff it in the attic (I’m pretty sure that’s how it’s supposed to work)
I’m a little late to the party but congrats on the great Beta! The due date is sometime around Halloween?
p.s. I’m looking for a good graphic for my new site. If you have anything lying around It would be appreciated.
It’s beautiful here today, too! Not quite that warm tho, but I’ll take the sunshine
I’m like Mr. Z…I keep EVERYTHING!!! I need an intervention!
It must be the weather cause I”m cleaning out too…………mmmm……….ITs beautiful her today too…………..
I really need to do that too…I can be such a packrat.
First of all, I am so jealous of the sunshine and nice weather you had today! Secondly, good for you for doing your own “clean sweep!” When we moved back home a year ago, we did the same thing. We had half of the garage stacked full of trash and things we didnt want to bring with us, 3 hours away, back home! It’s time to go through everything again! It’s kind of liberating really. Have fun!
good for you, i wish i had your “get up and go” mentalitiy, i just got up from a nap, LOL!!
If you feel deprived after finishing your junk drawers, there’r a few here you could work on heehee!!
oh! I LOVE to clean! i’m like the female version of Bob Saget on Full House, only I don’t have two television shows and bad hair, but i do laugh at my jokes.
i’m on my way over…this could be fun
Here in Boston it is sunny like Janet said but still cold and crappy. We are due for more snow this week….I figure I have another month before it is spring-like enough to have to worry about spring cleaning….I might offer to hire you to sneak things into the trash from my house when you come to visit!
You and your design have changed so much since I visited here last!
bah! it’s -20!!
My husband is the exact same way! Yesterday he was pulling clothes out of the salvation army bag (of his, that I put there) and trying them on just in case. Clothes he hasn’t worn in literally 15 years. I’m like, honey, no one wears acid washed jean jackets anymore. Geesh!
We do you live and why is it so warm there??? (shines a flashlight in your eyes)
SPRING cleaning? I’t’s freakin’ winter up here!
(did you know ’spring’ means ‘jump’ here? :))
Have fun cleaning & throwing old stuff away.
Oh I wish, wish, wish it was 50 degrees here. Stupid Northeast!!! I’m a reformed packrat… Not having space taught me a lesson and my dad gives me the eye every time I come home to put another box in the basement for storage!
Oh and I was out with Janet last night. Congrats on the good news, and crossing all my finger and toes!!! Also, have a proposition for you. If you talk to Janet before me, she’ll let you know. If not just email me and I’ll let you know…
My wife is as much of a packrat as I am. With us moving so often (9 times in 9 years) we end up with boxes that are 90% crap, but just might have enough stuff in it worth keeping that we pack it around from state to state. There are at least 2 boxes in our basement that have been oacked since 1994. Sad.
The expression sunny as HELL kinda strikes me as odd. I’m thinking there’s not so much sun as there is burninating providing the mood lighting.
Feb 26, my birthday - and I’m sick =( About 3-4am, the tummy flu that is running around the US hits me. I know I don’t have any apple cider vinegar (ACV) because I took some to someone and left it there, so I patiently wait for the store to open at 6am. I get there and they still don’t have Bragg’s ACV =( so I buy a generic brand. Not as smooth, but does the trick - 15 minutes after downing that in some tea sweetened with honey and my tummy settles down as does the nausea.
But the pain!!! And I think my pains had pain!!! But I survive the day and night and Sunday I’m all bright and perky again - if a little weak.
So those of you who haven’t got that nasty tummy flu - get some ACV PDQ!!! It does the trick as far as settling the tummy. You can dilute it as much as you want so you can stand it - I use 2tsp to 1tbs sweetened with equal amount of honey in 16oz water/tea.
Sometimes I chug it straight followed with a water chaser.
I was very tempted to buy some bottled water in the store and do just that too. 4-6 miles driving oneself with motion sickness is not fun! =( Thank God I was in the Navy and learned to deal with it!
I’m pretty bad at saving things - but I think part of it is because I’m an artist. I’ll see something and think, “I can’t throw that away - what if I need it for a project in the future?” Therefore I have tons of boxes and containers full of stuff that I “might” use in the future. I guess I’m just a pack rat in denial…
