THAT time of year!
Category: LilZ |

Guess what we just did? School supply shopping! This is the last weekend LilZ before school starts. NEXT weekend is another camp weekend, and the TWO weekends after that, are weekend’s he goes to his Dad’s. So - it’s now or never!

We also went to register at his new school, and let me tell you - that place is AWESOME. It’s a relatively new building with rockin’ paintings on the walls and people in the rooms. LilZ even got to meet his new principal who seemed just the right amount of crazy and hyper to be a GREAT elementary school principal. They also told us that 5th graders (Holy Shit. LilZ is about to be in 5th grade.) get to go on a WEEKLONG trip to Williamsburg, VA! LilZ is already VERY excited and talking about the trip.

So far? Great day. It’s hard to believe the summer is almost over. Of course, the heat is not gone yet. The head index is 105 today, which means I’ve sweat to death and am nothing but a puddle of goo on the floor of my kitchen. I melted trying to get to the water.

5th grade?? It’s amazing isn’t it, how fast they grow. My baby is starting 4th grade this year *sniff sniff*

OMG! Love, love, LOVE school supply shopping. (pens! paper! folders!) I think the world should revolve around “school calendar” (ie. Sept to May) just so we can school supply shop when we’re older! Love the smell of filler paper in the morning…

How many pens, pencils etc did you buy? I love that stuff. I’ve caught myself browsing the school supply sections of every store that has one…

I’m not ready for school supply shopping, not at all! Although I know that it’s about time. And my son went to Williamsburg in 5th grade, too, and had a blast. Unfortunately my younger son didn’ t get to, as he was in 5th grade in 2001/2002, and after 9/11, they canceled the trip. (Since we’re in Chicagoland, the trip involved flying.)

I did school supply shopping today as well. I still don’t have everything they’ll need, but I’m close. And I couldn’t resist picking up Kiss and Pink Floyd t-shirts for them!!

LilZ’s school sounds awesome! Does he go to a city or county school? We’re out in the county and we start on the 8th.

I love shopping for school supplies…take me along?

I don’t really get to shop for school supplies in college…probably because I wait until I get back to school…and then it is my money I am spending :(
