How am I freaking out? Let me count the ways.
Category: Pregnant |
  1. Text messaging amalah from the doctor’s office.
  2. Calling everyone on my phone list. Twice. Maybe three times in some cases.
  3. Walking around the house aimlessly. Trying to find things to do.
  4. Thinking about how much I want to pig out on Halloween candy and then remembering I don’t want to poop it out during labor.
  5. Trying NOT to google “Pitocin Contractions” to see how bad they REALLY are.
  6. Packing and repacking and packing again.
  7. Talking to anyone who will listen. About anything and everything labor related.
  8. Wanting to puke.
  9. Puking.
  10. Blogging.

And what is MrZ doing? Watching MacGyver.

Hey — am home from the hospital after being induced Friday/Saturday. Pitocin contractions? Do suck. I promptly got the epidural after 3 1/2 hours of them. The epidural? Wonderful. The actual birth? Easy as pie, baby. There is something to be said for second babies. She practically slid on out….

Good luck and God bless to you and your growing family!!!!

Which episode is it? It’s not the one where he gets stuck in the elevator when the power goes out with the pregnant lady and delivers the baby with nothing but a towel, a plunger, and a bottle of Jack Daniels (to be used as antiseptic/pain killer), is it?

  3. Broad Says:

You mock, but MacGuyver could come in handy, you know.

    ; )

I would like to point out that when I was in labor? I TRIED to text message you and couldn’t figure out how to on my stupid fancy new phone.

So I hope you got my replies, because it was haaard and complicated and I typed them while breastfeeding.

  5. Kay Says:

good luck. You’re not gonna poop, and if you do, trust me, you’ll be at the point of no caring!

  6. Nic Says:

Does it help any to know that the internet in wringing it’s metaphysical hands with you? I think you’re going to be great at this Zoot, I have total faith that you will do this will style and humor. Your baby is a lucky girl and she’s joining a fantastic family. I’m sending peace and loving thoughts your way, and I’m sure we’ll all be praying for you. Much love and best wishes.

EAT SOMETHING NOW- I swear just when you finally give in and decide to eat because oh my god I’ll die without food and pooping will not technically kill you - they’ll tell you no more food, and even take away your ice chips.
Pitocin contractions suck - but so do the regular ones - had both and don’t think either sucked any more.
    Good Luck!
EAT SOMETHING NOW! Soup - eat soup, you won’t poop that!

  8. Jessie Says:

Just for encouragement - my mom gave birth to me with no pain meds while on pitocin. As long as I’ve known her she hasn’t been able to handle pain very well. If she can do it, I’m sure you can. Just remember that it is only temporary.

I bet all this excitement throws you into labor all on your own. Here’s hopin’ anyway.

WOO HOO on the induction! :) I’m so excited for you girl. :)

Definitely stay away from the google. You just don’t want to know.

Having been around the induction block, if you need to distract yourself and want someone to gab with, I’m here. :)

  12. Carrisa Says:

    wait till the 27th to have her… that’s my bday… ha ha…

please don’t ban me cuz i told you to be in labor for 24 hrs

  13. TB Says:

Yay! Good luck Miss Zoot and NikkiZ!

  14. Dawn Says:

Hang in there Zoot! Ask for the epidural before they induce. Lamaze breathing is only good for when you stub your toe. You’re gonna be fine! You’ll be holding that beautiful baby very soon! Keep your eye on the prize!

  15. Hardtoimagine Says:

Good luck to you and your baby. Pitocin definitely sucks. I asked for the epidural shortly after the pitocin was started. Maybe you’ll get lucky and go into labor before they induce you. Thinking of you and yours during this exciting time.

  16. Lisa Says:

Induction? Sucks. There. No need to google it.

Drugs? RULE. There. No need to google THAT.

Knowing when you are starting this new part of your lfe?

    Priceless.

    Thinking of you, Zoot.

  17. Polichick Says:

Good luck! I’m sure everything will be fine. :-)

  18. Amanda Says:

  21. Michelle Says:

YOU GO GIRL! I am so thrilled for you. Can’t wait to see the photos of NikkiZ

  22. Brenda Says:

I am so excited for you!
Have the Halloween candy–how fast could it possibly go through a digestive tract that’s being compressed by an 8 1/2 pound baby!!

    Good luck, girl!

  23. Shala Says:

Good luck zoot!!! We cant wait to meet that pretty baby!! Its really happening!!

  24. Jenn (MDH) Says:

Totally eat, those damn hosptial staff won’t give you a damn thing. I didn’t eat for 3 days!!! 3 days!!!! The horrors.

I am now a big fan of the c-section, lol. No pooping involved ;).

I’d probably, shamelessly, show my cooter to the nation, but pooping? No. Can. Do. Thank you.

  25. Jabberwocky Says:

Woo hoo!!! Go Zoot, go! Best of luck to you, MrZ and LilZ.

    PS
    Eat the candy….

  26. Tracy Says:

1st child: cervix softening, pitocen, epidural, 16 hrs of labor, 3 hrs of pushing, forceps, lots and lots of stitches…beautiful baby.
2nd child: induced, pitocen & epi given at same time, so relaxed reached 10 cm before I could blink, no pain at all, pushed for an hour - no baby, emerg c-section, home in 1 1/2 days with beautiful baby.
    I’d take a c-section over a vag ANY DAY!!! Loved my c-section!!

  27. RockStar Mommy Says:

OHMYGOD, I’m so damn late here. Gah!

Good luck tomorrow. I was enduced and seriously? In labor for only 3 hours, pushed for 20 minutes. He was 8.1, almost a pound bigger than my daughter was, and he came out just fine. So, here’s to hoping everything will work out the way you want it to.

And you said the word pitocin which made me cringe… girl, if you get through that with no epidural, you are SUPERWOMAN. Feel free to tell me to shut up now for the assvice, but really, EPIDURALS ARE OUR FRIENDS! ;)

Good luck either way. I’ll be checking your site non-stop all day tomorrow!

Squeeeee!!! I’m so excited for you guys!

  28. bon Says:

    YAYYYYYYY!

    Go and do!
gotta tell ya…. Epidurals are HAPPY things. That’s just an opinion of course.

  29. char Says:

Oh, I’m coming out of lurkdom once again and echoing the comment about eating now!! Eat! ESPECIALLY since they are going to do the whole cervix softening thing before pitocin. I went through that about 6 months ago, and they only allowed clear liquids for 12 hours. And really - I think you should allow yourself a really good “last meal” anyway, since it will be a good long while before you’ll be able to eat without interuption. I’m hoping for a “cry-free” meal again someday! Babies seem to know when you are all ready to sit down and eat and relax for 5 minutes. :-) Anyway, best wishes for a quick softening and easy labor tomorrow!

  30. sam Says:

Hooray! I’m so happy for you guys. :)
