Okay. Here it goes. We are on our way to MrZ’s parents house to drop off LilZ. We will discuss plans for the next few days, assign duties (dog walking, carpool, etc), and try to get everything organized before we head to the hospital at 7:30pm. They will give me cervical softener (I heard the stuff is made out of pig semen. Yum.) once when we get there, and once at some point in time during the night. We’re hoping that will stimulate natural contractions, but since I probably won’t be that lucky, my doctor will come in at 6am to start my Pitocin drip. Hopefully NikkiZ will be born several hours later.
We hear the hospital has WiFi, and we are armed with our laptop. MrZ and LilZ both have authorship on this blog, so hopefully SOMEONE will be updating throughout the process. If the WiFi works okay, I may even update in the middle of the night because I’m sure sleeping will not come easy. But - just in case - I sent out the notify on this entry to let you all know that the baby is on her way.
I am scared. REALLY REALLY scared. I am also so overwhelmed with excitement I might poop. We have worked so hard and traveled so many dark and bumpy roads to make it to this point. This is a big moment for our family. LilZ is about to finally become a brother, something he has wanted since he was five. MrZ is finally going to become a Dad, something he has wanted since I first met him six years ago. And ME? Well, I’m about to have a daughter. A daughter. A girl who I will try my best to raise, even though I still don’t understand a lot about being a girl myself.
We’re ready for you, NikkiZ. We’ve been ready for you for years. You are about to be born into a very strange family. But, no matter how weird we all are, we already love you more than you’ll ever know. You will have the best Daddy a girl could ask for, and the best big brother in the world. And your Mom? She’s nutty, but she loves you very much.
Please try not to hurt her too bad on your way out.
Dude. Way to go. Really. Congratulations!
