Damn. Hospitals suck. We’re getting really severe cases of cabin fever being here. MrZ got to escape for a wee bit today, but not enough to actually take that hospital funk away. We’re icky. We’re also a wee bit moody. Crying over our daughter, our beautiful new daughter. Crying over her hands, her feet, her healthy little body that could have not survived delivery if it weren’t for a perfect set of circumstances. I think the reality of how close we came to losing her is starting to hit us now that the chaos of her arrival has passed.
I’m more mobile today and less drunk. The morphine I was on all day yesterday made the day VERY fuzzy and I’ve had to get MrZ to piece bits of it together for me. Especially the parts where I seem to remember falling asleep WHILE talking to someone. Which, I evidently did a LOT. Mid sentence? I’d fall asleep.
LilZ was up here tonight loving all over NikkiZ. It is so cool to watch. He doesn’t even hesitate before wanting to hold her, which is great because I was worried he’d be scared of her being SO small. MrZ’s family has been taking good care of LilZ this week, we’re lucky to have them here in town to help us.
It looks like we’re going to be here until Saturday, and then they’ll discharge us to the real world. Where we go back home and try to introduce the dogs to their new sister. And try to keep them all from licking her to death!
You are going to think I am a psycho stalker! This is the 2nd I was first to post haha - Just in awe over your lovely family! Congrats, again- glad you are feeling a bit better today - keep on resting, let the nurses take a lot of the care - once you leave, you are on your own! Best wishes, again
I’ve been a lurking reader for awhile, but never commented until now. Is it crazy- I liked my hospital’s food too when I had my little girl! The best part? SOMEONE ELSE cooks it FOR you! And brings it to you, and throws it away for you. It’s great.

What wonderful pictures! You can tell how thrilled LilZ is to be a big brother, and it’s obvious MrZ is going to be a protective dad. I just have one question: where’s all the pictures of NikkiZ with Mommy?

First of all - Congrats on the wonderfully amazing addition to your family. The pictures of MrZ and his daughter have brought me to tears. Any girl would be lucky to have a father who loves her as much as he - you can feel the love in the pictures you have posted. Big brother is going to stick up for that little girl and protect her through life. And Mom will be queen, in NikkiZ’s eyes, well, until she turns 15 and then unfortunately you will be the devil until she turns 20, and then you will be her closest friend for life.
It has been a trip reading your blog for the past few months and I have to thank you for teaching me the phrase “Filthy Whore”, I am sure that several people in my town are not so thankful.

All week I have been coming here for my daily dose of happies. Sounds like there was some scariness around her delivery but man look at what you and MrZ CREATED and look at how my LilZ ADORES her. I would be crying too. FYI have you had morphine before? It takes quite awhile to fully get out of your system.
aw man was MrZ crying in that last picture? because if he was… well it makes me want to cry TOO. I can’t see a grown man crying without turning into a crying mess.
