We just got back from the doctor’s office and all is well with NikkiZ. She weighs 7lbs 6oz which is 3oz more than when she was born, so she is right on track. She also grew an inch and a half in length, which was suprising to us. She also go her second PKU test which she hated sufficiently and screamed like she’s never screamed before. It was quite an experience.
I’m spent for the day. My incision has starting hurting worse since yesterday and I’m so tense about it all the time that my back is killing me. MrZ is having his own share of back issues today too - so I don’t know how we’re going to manage. Anyone want to come take care of all three of us? Thanks.

I’m THERE!!!
Glad NikkiZ is doing great, 1.5 inches! is amazing!!!!
Amazing! I think most babies loose weight at first, but it sounds like she’s doing great!! Good job!
Glad to hear she’s growing so well, and sorry to hear about the tense-ness and back pain. At least you got some sleep yesterday, right? I hope it all gets better soon.
Awww, hang in there. Wish I could catch a plane and come help out. Sending Cyber hugs and get well wishes though.
I’m probably the best candidate, considering our close proximity, but my seven-yr-old is home sick today, awash in a sea of green snot. He is a very demanding patient — he actually asked me, a few minutes ago, if I would be his “waiter.” “I really need one,” he explained, in all seriousness. (I think he meant ‘butler,’ but the demeaning servitude implication is still pretty clear.)
So sorry, zoot, I am contractually obligated here, so you are going to have to find another “waiter” to help y’all out.
Glad to hear that the boobies are functioning!
On my way………………..Sorry about the troubles…
Ooh, I hope you are all feeling better soon!
Haven’t had a chance to comment before, but you and MrZ made one hell of a beautiful baby! Congratulations!!!!
Totally! I’ll be there on the next plane
I would totally help out if I were closer. Hope you all are feeling better soon.
We would be there in a second - we are such suckers for a baby
I wish I could come! As a 3 time veteran c-sectioner here are the things that made me feel better:
1. Make sure to take pain meds on time, don’t try to skimp, it can raise your blood pressure.
2. Hydrogen peroxide on the site (although if you have a bandage I guess that won’t work).
3. A hot bath. I know this is controversial, as some say tub water can breed infection, but if you take a really hot one I swear it will relieve pain and assist healing.
4. Listen to your body. If you hurt, sit or lie down.
5. Beer.
Finally made it cross-country. Just settling in and am VERY excited to hear lil pumpkin is doing good. Looking forward to more pics!
p.s. Would vollunteer to take care of y’all, but alas- can’t take care of myself. Or my blog for that matter…
I know - you want MORE advice - re the gas, my daughter had major problems w/gas. constipation when she was an infant. My pediatrician said put a cool, wet wash cloth on her belly - AMAZING! I even used it in the hospital on post-op patients who needed to get their bowels moving! Another thing, MrZ can do this on - lay her with her head in his hand, on her belly w/her legs on either side at his elbow - this also is wonderful when little ones have belly pain. Your family is beautiful - thank you so much for sharing!
