You people who said the mystery dessert from hell had a hidden image of a p3n!s in it? ARE ON CRACK.
(Speaking of crack, MrZ is watching an episode of MacGyver right now where some kid is “on crack” and he told me they did a whole season where several episodes revolved around kids smoking crack. I would have smoked crack too if MacGyver and his stone washed blue jeans tucked into his white hightops and his mullet tried to set me straight. I’m just saying.)
NikkiZ woke up several times last night feverish from her vaccinations yesterday. As a result? I am so tired I have almost cried several times this morning for no real reason. When I was in college exhaustion made me giggly and goofy, but now? It makes me anxious and depressed. That’s kinda unfair, dont you think? Although I don’t think MrZ would have asked me to marry him if the first two years of our relationship I spent in tears. I think he would have run for the hills. Instead? I was always goofy and giggly. TRUE LOVE!
Now? Not so much.
I’m letting NikkiZ sleep in before taking her to daycare today. I don’t like bringing an irritable and fussy baby and leaving her in someone else’s care. I’m going to see how she feels when she wakes up and then possibly take her to school once I’m sure she’s not running a fever.
Questions for the masses:
1) How long do I feed my daughter rice cereal and watch her spit out every bite, before I accept she doesn’t like it? I’m not sure the difference between her not knowing how to swallow it, and her thinking it tastes like shit.
2) Do you know anyone who can get me any crack?

I would give her a little while on the cereal. It may also be that she is just not ready. Maybe just wait a couple of weeks and try again. When she is ready, she will be ready and will totally down it. Also, if you are making it with breastmilk still try water or formula. My friends daughter would not eat it made with the breastmilk and actually still (4 mos later) prefers it with water.
And sorry my crack dealer is currently sold out.
Okay, now all can think about is: what amazing things would MacGuyver be able to make out of crack? A bomb? Building materials? Jest wonderin’…
They saw it too? I saw that image in the dessert as well! You could make a ton of money marketing that photo on the internet!
I started my kids on rice cereal with bananas. I know it’s against the “rules”, but they liked it.
I saw switch to oatmeal. My kids hated that rice shit. But LOVED the baby oatmeal.
I never followed the rules when it came to when I fed certain food to my kids, lol… I was a naughty mom, lol.
All 3 of my kids perfered oatmeal and oatmeal with bananas. And I started feeding my kids cereal by the time they reached 3 months old… they all slept through the night like champs, lol.
Might help if I filled into my name… Gosh I need more coffee yet this morning, lol
Round two…

I breastfed exclusively, but couldn’t express any milk to save my life. We always mixed the cereal with apple juice. But I’d wait another couple of weeks because she may just not be ready.
She may hate rice cereal. You could try something else equally non-allergenic, like sweet potatoes or bananas. Our ped told us breastmilk is sweeter than fruits/veggies in the first place, so there’s no reason to do the old-fashioned rice-oat-barley-pea-greenbean sequence.
She might just be a little young, rather than not liking the taste. Baby rice cereal is fairly bland - the point of it is more to introduce the baby to the concept of food ie the idea of texture, their gut actually having solid substances passed through it, but without allergy or intolerance risk. If she pushes the spoon out regardless of what is on in, then yeah, she still has the “extrusion reflex” that babies have until at least 4 months, but often up to 6 months. But if it is the taste, maybe try sweet potatoes?
She is probably just holding out for Lucky Charms (which are more valuable than Crack at our house. It should be obvious from the commercials, they are always chasing around that little green dealer - “Catch lucky, he’s got lucky charms!” That and the ‘magically delicious’ shoudl be clues to parents. I always thought that pot was ‘magically delicious’ too)
Anyway, good luck with all that.
I’m on it, girl! Don’t worry - crack is on the way!
I am so casual about solids. i figure when they start grabbing my food off the table and trying to eat it, I will start offering a little here and there. If she is totally spitting it out at this point, I so would not worry about it. Kids can live totally happy and healthy on breast milk alone til they are a year old. However, most are interested in solids by 9 months, in my experience. I’d give her another month and try again.

Dude, you didn’t see the p3n!s?!
It took my daughter a MONTH to decide she “liked” rice cereal. But we stuck with it, and were rewarded with a child who, at 2.5 now (knock on wood) still eats pretty much everything!!! (Including Ethopian, Indian & Mexican!) I think it took her a while to decide she liked the texture. My point is stick with it. I think some of it is that they just keep checking to make sure you mean it.
OMG! I totally see the p3nis now! I didn’t even notice it before.
I don’t have crack, but I DO live in Amsterdam…
I started my son on oatmeal and bananas a few weeks ago and he would constanly spit it out. Recently I tried again, and he ate it. The only thing was after a couple of spoonfuls, he started crying and didn’t want anymore. So I think that was the real indication that he didn’t like it. It’s probably just her reflex coupled with her inexperience with eating solids. Give it time. (I can’t believe I am trying to give someone parenting advice! The blind leading the blind.)
