I just went to get gas (Don’t worry, no fire departments were called this time.) and across from my pump (my pump, my pump, my lovely lady pump) was a VERY beautiful girl. She was skinny, had a cute figure, and a very stylish outfit on. And her sunglasses? Were of the HUGE variety. And of course, they looked great on her.
What is up with the GIANT sunglasses?
They’ve been around for awhile now, finally creeping their way into mainstream fashion here in Huntsville. I see a lot of girls wearing them and a lot of the time they just look so cute. When they first showed up on the racks at Target, I decided to try a pair on to see if they looked as cute on me as some of the celebrities I’ve seen wearing them.
They didn’t. As a matter of fact? Think of the opposite of “cute” and that’s where I’ll be. Wearing those glasses.
A few weeks ago I noticed my sister-in-law had a cute pair. They looked SO good on her. They next time I went to Target? I decided to give it a try again. Why do I do that? Why do I think that if they didn’t look good on me the first time, they’ll look ANY different the second time? I have no idea, but whatever the reason, I still tried on a pair.
They looked dumb as HELL.
So I tried on a few others in similar styles.
They ALL looked dumb as HELL.
And I’m sure, because I saw that gorgeous girl today wearing a pair, that the next time I go to Target I’ll try again. And I’m sure, that they’ll all look just a hideous then as they have the dozen or so times before. I just can’t help myself. Those damn things look so cute on so many people, I’m determined to find that they look just as cute on me.
Now, gauchos on the other hand? I’m not even going to try those on one time.
Gouchos and I have not become friends either. BUT I just got back from the beach and all those pencil thing young girls looked so CUTE in them. I will try again, but I know deep in my heart…there’s no hope. (I don’t own a pair of big sunglasses, capris, or 80’s looking sycadelic purses either. Couln’t pull that off.) I’m a trend failure!
Do you know what I think is best in this situation? A picture. The internet needs a picture of you in these sunglasses.
Who knows? Maybe we will think they look awesome on you and the whole thing will boost your confidence for the day!
I am that way with glasses too.
I am due for some new glasses and I want some Lisa Loeb-like catty glasses because they are cute AND that is the recommended type for round fat faces like mine.
I know they will look silly though.

Gauchos on the other hand? I put a pair of A’s on the other day just b/c they were the closest things to me and surprisingly enough? I loved them on enough that she might not ever see them again.
So you should at least try…..you’ll prob be pleasantly surprised like I was.
I have yet to find any pair of sunglasses that does not look utterly ridiculous on me. And yet? I keep trying. Figures.
OH MY GOD! I had that same thought today. Noah’s daycare teacher (young & hot) had the BIGGEST brown sunglasses on…and I was like “WHOA those are huge sunglasses while at the same time thinking…those are the perkiest boobs I’ve seen all week”
I look like a 12 year old boy circa 1976 when I try those on.
Um, yeah, the huge sunglasses - they ride up on my cheeks when I smile. Not very flattering. And the gauchos - well, let’s just say they aren’t that flattering to a short, chubby girl with stubby legs. And I SO wanted them to look good.
If you insist upon aspiring to look like Nicole Richie, I am going to have to stop reading you, Zoot. Please don’t make me do that.
Oh I think those huge sunglasses look ridiculous on EVERYONE! Especially the tiny skinney girls, they dont have big enough heads to balance them out! Same with gauchos, they are just a hideous item of clothing and make everyone who wears them look stumpy. They cut your leg off at an akward point making even thin gals look stumpy…just because they make something, doenst mean its attractive…..
I am with you with the glasses, no good for me. And the gauchos really too. However… I am pregnant (28 weeks in Atlanta, so I am starting to understand your obsession with ass and boob sweat) and the only pair of something close to shorts that were comfortable at Target or any other maternity store were the gauchos…. So I was forced by circumstance, I still think they look silly though…

On the other hand, i’ve got a bone to pick with you Zoot. I keep seeing all this stuff about High School Musical, so I Tivo it (well, DVR but same diff)….
And then I wonder why I get strange looks from my co-workers when I start singing “Just keep your head in the game”….ADDICTING!!!
Zoot, I couldn’t be more with you on the outrage over these behemoth sunglasses. Any time I see a woman wearing them, I mistake her for a welder.
I do not like the big glasses.. I cant seem to think they look cute on anyone.. makes me wonder what they are covering up..
As for gauchos..I have friends that love them..Sorry not happening on this preggo body!

I don’t blame you on the gauchos. They really don’t look good on anyone. I have to admit though, I do have a pair of (semi)big sunglasses that are pretty much the style, and I don’t think they look too bad on me. My husband asks where the papparazi are every time I wear them though. He thinks it’s still funny after the 500th time he’s asked. I don’t have the heart to tell him it’s really not.
