Box!
Category: NikkiZ |
Hmmm...Cuteness doesnt fit in a boxWhat's the number?Brother is a GENIUS.

LilZ went through some of my boxes of books yesterday, looking for a James Patterson one about winged kids. In the process, he emptied a whole lotta boxes (and made a giant mess, why did I tell him to do that again?) and came up with the idea to push NikkiZ around the house in one. She loved it. He threw in an old phone we’ve given her for good measure. And some measuring cups. I learned with LilZ not to spend a lot of money on toys, so we went to the dollar store instead and bought a buch of kitchen stuff for her to play with. She loves it all.

Seriously. Measuring cups are the secret to happiness, you heard it here. That? And old phones. If only I was that easy to please.

Box, phones and measuring cups. What more can a girl ask for. Besides a big brother to push her around.

  2. RockStar Mommy Says:

Old phone and REMOTE CONTROLS! they’re like baby crack.

  3. Meg Says:

Too cute! And that book? The one with Max, and the kids are like hybrid angels? Way cool.

  4. Rachael Says:

OoOoooOoo, I LOVED those multi-level toys-inside-toys when I was little. Like those russian doll things, whatever those are called. I totally grok the measuring cups.

I bet when xmas comes along she loves the paper and bows, lol. Cherish these days until she gets old enough to want everything she sees on TV :p

So cute! Why buy toys when there are cardboard boxes and measuring cups to be had on the cheap? Excellent idea.

Anyone know the name of that book? I’m dying to read it now. Seriously. EMAIL ME.

She just gets cuter by the day and what a great older brother.
My kids always went more for the boxes rather than the toys…at least at that age.

  7. Randi Says:

And that’s the benefit of having and older sibling, someone to push you around! Just wait until she’s old enough to start pushing HIM around, and I don’t mean physically LOL.

  8. Irony Queen Says:

Too funny! LilZ is a great big brother.

I love that this particular box is labeled “Fragile.” Uh, YE-AH.

Back during our Extreme Poverty era, my mom used to save the plastic scoops from powder laundry detergent for Aidan. Seriously, HOURS of free bathtime fun.

  10. Michele Says:

Wait! So babies are like cats? Because mine prefer boxes to anything else. Well, actually one of them likes to be pushed around in a laundry basket. LilZ should try that.

  11. Y Says:

Is it a girl thing? Because my boys loved their toys. Gabby, however, will play with a new toy for 2 minutes and she’s over it and playing with my keys again. GIRLS!

    (her eyes are beautiful.)

  12. Janet Says:

adorable pictures, especially the one on the upper right!

  13. LizzieP Says:

The book you mentioned? The Lake House by James Patterson. I am WAY impressed that LilZ is looking for that book. It is really good. If you guys can’t find it let me know. I think I have a hard and paperback edition I would send ya! (I’m cool like that)
Oh and the kid in the box? The cutest….as usual!

  14. motherbumper Says:

those pics are priceless. Thanks for the dollar store idea I’m headed there after naptime. We gave Bumper an old remote and she loves it like no other toy.

  15. janjanmom Says:

I love the fragile on the box too!! My kids even though 9,8, and 4 still prefer boxes to toys. They still have to be big enough to climb into and they entertain them for hours.

I second your few toys philosophy!! It has worked for us as well! My daughters play with sticks and rubber bands all day long, making bow and arrows, slingshots, etc. We paint rocks. Imanginary toys are way cooler because they are different every time you play them. Barbie is always Barbie.

  16. Kestrel Says:

Yay! Boxes! When I was a kid my parents would buy me a toy and I’d play with the box, lol.

  17. junkie Says:

    LOVE the pix!

And the book is “Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment”…..my favorite James Patterson book EVAH!!! I’ve got it packed up somewhere, too. Heh. LilZ will love it!

  18. Tasha Says:

My 6 month old is so into the remote control. if we’re watching tv and I try to move it away from her she lets out a growl. LilZ is such a good brother. You are very lucky to have such great kids.

  19. Penny Says:

Great Pics! She’s a cutey. I’m a little disconcerted by the bottom right picture. How is she doing that weird twisty thing with her leg? Is she an acrobat? Kids. The flexibility!!

  20. Kym Says:

So funny on the kitchen gadgets. When I was little one, my favorite thing to play with was my Grandmothers hand mixer. NOT one with a cord, it was the one that had the handle that turned 2 beater things. I would pretend it was a telephone and dial it. Sooooo cool, I might just have to blog about it myself. I saw one tonight at the Old Time Pottery, made me smile, and now telling you guys…
