Ladies and Gents - you all know I’m “speaking” at Blogher this summer. I use the term “speaking” very loosely because it’s more like “instructing” or “teaching” or “imparting my wisdom onto others because I’m the goddess of newbie bloggers.” Okay - maybe that last one is a little extreme, but I like exaggerating my prowess whenever possible.
Well, I’ve been totally stressing over the trip because we’re having trouble (and by “we” I mean “me”) getting NikkiZ to sleep in her bed, sleep through the night, drink from a bottle, and be comforted by anyone but me because the best way to comfort her is with THE BOOB. Since I can’t leave my boobs behind, I’ve been worried how she’ll do for four days and three nights without me. I was also worried we wouldn’t have enough milk for her since we’ll be on vacation the week before and I don’t see me pumping a lot then (I’ll be too busy drinking). I really didn’t want to make it nine months without giving her formula, only to break the streak so close to our goal of a year.
So, in short: I was having trouble getting excited because I was too stressed. And my biggest fear? The one of my NIGHTMARES? That I would come back home and she would have forgotten how to nurse. Or just given it up. And I’m not ready for that AT ALL.
Well - enter the hero of the story: My Dad and his Frequent Flyer Miles. Guess who is coming to California with me? NikkiZ! And MrZ! And LilZ! It’s going to be a zoot-family outing across the country. BlogHIMS will be invading BlogHER. We’ve booked our flights, we’ve reserved our hotel rooms, and we’ve alerted the state of California to our arrival in July and told them they need to stock up on the doughnuts and beer.
(Beer for NikkiZ of course.)
So - Things I Love Thursday: BLOGHER. Because I can be excited now that I’m not worried.

I think that’s so awesome that you get to have your family with you.

YEAH ZOOTS, That is really cool. I just left Alanna, 6.5 months for 1 night with my mom and was having withdrawls, I couldn’t imagine for 4 days. I can’t make it to Blogher this year, make sure you bring back details..

I haven’t figured out yet what we are doing - I have heard rumors there will be some childcare we can pay for, but haven’t heard anything for certain, so I have to figure out who I can bribe to come with me be it a sister, a mom or a Cousin Babysitter.

Well, I’m not going to BlogHer, but since San Jose is just an hour or so away, I could always drive down and stalk you at your hotel….. I’m so glad NikkiZ gets to go with you; I could never have gone across the country when mine were that age (they were attached to my boobs, too… no bottles).
