Excitement Abounds!
Category: Stuff I love |

I just wrote an entire entry about Summer that when I went back and re-read? I fell asleep it bored me so much. So - instead? I’m going to make a list of other things that excite me way more than the average person:

  • Lists. Man, I love lists. Especially bulleted ones.
  • Pens, but I talk about that enough already so I won’t add anymore to that item.
  • Pretty papers. Amy got me into making my own greeting cards and I admitted to her I loved the hobby because it gave me justification for keeping scraps of pretty paper that before had no use.
  • Socks. Having to take off my shoes when I go into NikkiZ’s classroom has inspired in me a sock-obsession.
  • My Entertainment Weekly in the mail. I hide them from the family if I get to them first because I don’t want anyone reading it before I do.
  • A virgin calendar. I love love love writing things in a new calendar.
  • Postcards.
  • Freshly vacuumed carpet. Makes me SO HAPPY.
  • The ice cream man. Yep, we still have one in our neighborhood.
  • Buttered movie-theater popcorn. (Has anyone else noticed how many of these are food-related?)
  • Cool dishes. My dream is to someday have enough dishes for 8 place-settings, but none of them match each other.
  • Blogging. I know you are almost all bloggers so you think blogging excites you like it does me, but have you noticed how often I post? And how many blogs I have? Yes. It’s a sickness.
  • Seeing new photos from my Flickr contacts.
  • Stickers. Man, I still love stickers. As soon as I come up with a good use for them again as an adult? I’m going to start another collection.

What weird things get you excited? Wait. That sounded bad. I don’t want this to become a “Dear Penthouse…” type of entry.

Or do I?

I scrapbook and I am obessed with Stickers!! Everytime I do a page I HAVE to have a sticker that goes with the theme of that page!! I have at least 3 holders full of them! Alphabet stickers…Name stickers….destination stickers! I love them all!!!

  2. Tiffany Says:

Can you elobarate on the sock thing, is it because they now have to look new because you have to take them off???? And is the sock fetish like your pen fetish (which by the way I also have)

New underwear and bras that match is one that is exciting to me.

I might have more but I can’t think of anything right now. I just also thought it’d be neat to be the first commenter on this entry.

  3. Tiffany Says:

    Dang it someone beat me.

  4. Kate the Shrew Says:

I love lists, too. Also all office supplies– pens, paper, folders, sheet protectors, notebooks– but I think best of all I love my label maker.

I get excited about a lot of non=Office Depot things, too, but they’re pretty high on the list!

  5. Carrisa Says:

I get excited about cell phones. I got a sidekick color, then a sidekick II complete with lots of cool ringtones and games and stickers to make it look pink… and then just now… I went to the website and ordered me a magenta razr phone. I was strong enough not to order the sidekick 3 because man.. that magenta razr phone is one purdy phone. and my dvr excites me. and big brother excites me.. and the combination of watching big brother on my dvr excites me to the point where I might have just tinkled a little bit in my chair.

  6. Janet Says:

I heart Amy! She was my secret spoiler awhile back! How do you make the greeting cards?

Dude…if you can believe it I wrote a poop entry today ;-)

  7. AJ Says:

    Dear Penthouse:

    Hah, jokes.

    Things that get me excited:
    -Postcards
    -New chapstick
-Knowing that a surprise is in store for me

  8. momto1 Says:

You should scrapbook…you can have pretty paper, stickers and pens…lmao

I scrapbook so new supplies excite me. :) Oh and going to Disneyland…I’m a wee bit obsessed with going to Disneyland. hehe

  9. Floyd Says:

All about pens - and just about everything else at Office Depot.

I also obsess over my Entertainment Weekly.

I also get excited about the new fall TV season and the Oscars. (really all award shows). I’m a total dork.

  10. Jessica Says:

I too have a sock “issue”. I lurve me some socks - any and all kinds…funky, pretty, just brand-spankin-purddy new ones. I’ve always had a thing for socks. And my Target never lets me down in this department.

I also have a bit of an obsession with photo frames; a new, fresh notebook - any kind, sprial bound, marble, or really fancy; and baskets, and PJ pants.

  11. Elleana Says:

Okay, this is weird, but I love soap. OH MY GOD - the smell of fresh and clean and the feel of a brand spankin’ new bar of soap.

(I think they’re reserving me a room at the crazy house as we speak.)

  12. Wacky Mommy Says:

You are so dang cute, Zoot. That rhymed! Ha! I like:

    1) rhyming
    2) the fairies in our garden
    3) swimming every day
    4) the honeysuckle in our yard that Ate Our Fence it is so ginormous
    5) at night, when the kids finally fall asleep
    6) getting cards in the mail (hint, hint)

  13. Jezer Says:

Am wiith you on the pens, paper, and virgin calendars.

Also, containers–boxes, bottles, canisters, jars, anything that holds stuff.

  14. honeybecke Says:

    The likes of me:

-garage sales (you can seriously get some cheap, good stuff)
-buying new shampoo and laundry soap. I cannot WAIT for them to be gone so I can go out and smell new ones and buy them
    -pens, notepads, and magnets
-gardenias and sweetpeas. i just got back from louisiana and brought two gardenias on the plane with me so i could smell them in my carry on. i had one in the delivery room with me too.
-a night time shower and then clean sheets. even better if i shave my legs.
-am i weird that i get excited when it’s time to buy new diapers? i hunt around for the best price and find as many coupons as i can. i get great satisfaction for buying a box of cruisers for $20!

hmm well that’s enough about me.

That’s pretty bad when you write a whole post and then it puts YOU to sleep when you reread it. LOL! It’s nice that it’s the little things in life that can excite us.

  16. Chris Says:

So this one time? No just kidding.

Hey seriously. Have you ever tried Raisinettes (I think I spelled it wrong) in your popcorn?

Wait! Before you hurt, try it. Bring plenty of napkins but it is rrrreallly good. My dad turned me on to it years ago, now my husband is secretly hooked.

P.S. I hate lists but am envious of people who make them, much less love them. Hats off to you!

  17. MoMMY Says:

I’m just glad someone else likes bullet points because I just did a blog using them (and admitting my love of them).

    Also, the office supplies? Obsessed.

  18. stacey Says:

OMG I do the SAME thing with magazines!!!

  19. Mary Says:

There used to be a sticker store here back in the 80’s. All it sold was stickers!

They have really cool dishes at the Dollar Tree. They are SO cute. SToneware with all different colors and patterns!

  20. Meg Says:

On the sticker thing? I make my own cards (stamping mostly) and seal them wiht a sticker. Actually. I put stickers on my bills too. I have seasonal, and kittens, and muppets, and everything under the sun…

  21. Leslie Says:

Getting pretty stamps and not flags at the post office and at Café Press stores, which can now design usable stamps.

My unmatched set of handpainted dishes from all over. So far I can seat 10 people, plates, mugs, saucers, etc using hand painted pottery in vibrant colors that do not match. You are the first person besides myself I’ve run into who likes their dishes to be more fun than matching.

Flea Markeets, Swap Meets and Yards Sales. I don’t even buy anything usually, I just go look at other people’s junk.

Music. I would rather drop $60 on collectible vinyl albumbs or a bunch or CDs or iTunes songs than a pair of shoes. (Can you tell I’m shoe shopping on pricey, pricey Zappos right now?)

    Art supplies.

  22. Randi Says:

New kitchen gadgets! Especially expensive ones that I can’t afford but drool over!

I’m totally with you on the pen obsession…it has to write JUST right…

Address books! I LOVE to get new address books and re-write the addresses. Too bad there aren’t too many names to write.

MY DVR! It’s still new to me.

Have you noticed that no one, absolutely NO ONE said new clothes or shoes excited them? Damn, are we sure we’re women?

  23. crazyforher Says:

I don’t feel so bad now! I love stickers too but my god I am 31 years old and it ain’t cool to break out your sticker collection with other adults. I still have my sticker collection from my childhood and my daughter once saw them and I thought “Oh hell no! I am not giving up my stickers so that you can stick them all willy nilly on every object in the house.” Okay, that is a little weird but I am now out of the closet. Thank you Zoot for making it ok.

  24. Rhi Says:

Oh Zoot…I heart you right now:

    Mine are:

    - things for ridiculously cheap
    -pretty yarn
-matching hats and scarves (in winter, duh!)
    -thank you cards
    - ANAL RETENTIVE ALERT!! I love using something up - recycling the container, and then opening up the new one in my cupboard, undoubtebly that I bought 2 months ago because it was on sale.
-and, lastly dessert plates, I cannot have more than 4 people to my house for dinner, but damnit! I can have 40 over for dessert, and everyone knows, that is ALL that really matters.

  25. Liz Says:

A couple of your lists will be on my list too.
    - list, yep I love them . I have to make “To do list” each day, and grocery list. Otherwise I always forget some item.
-Virgin calendar. I use different color for different occasions when writing things in
    -The $ section at Target.
-Magnets from all the places we have visited
-Pens. A big thank you goes to my husband who always goes to those vendor shows. Everytime he brings back tons of different kinds of pens for me.
    -sleeping on frensh laundried sheets
I think that is it for now.

  26. junkie` Says:

Reading this post reminded me once again that I still have the postcard I got for your collection when I was in NYC! Forgetful much? So remind me when I see you SOON!

  27. jomama Says:

  28. Lindz Says:

the best pen used as of lately..PILOT V-BALL GRIP EXTRA FINE., but I am gonna be drooling next month when they start coming out with the new school supplies! that is my personal holiday!

LOVE PENS! IS THERE A LOVE PENS CLUB?

  29. Belle Says:

Ooooh, Im a fellow dish freak! I do currently have eight places of my formal stuff AND informal stuff, but I always want moremoreMORE dishes.

So do you want one place setting to have matching dishes and be different from other place settings, or do you want each piece of each place setting to be different?

You know what else I love? Though it still counts as dishes….wine glasses and goblets!

I also like pitchers and barware, too, but love dishes and wineglases and goblets most of all, obviously. Okay, I’m going to stop now.

  30. 31 Gil Says:

I am a secret fan of lists. I have so many that I need to make a list of all the lists I have.

And I totlaly get excited when you write another post on here. I check back ALL THE TIME to see if anything has changed.
