I’m participating in the Thursday Thirteen again today, because I’m in a list-y kind of mood.
Thirteen Things I Need To Do Before Going to the Beach in Two Weeks.
- Find ideas for meals to cook for 10 people that require minimal ingredients to be frozen or refrigerated. We are doing shopping for the WHOLE group for the WHOLE week on one day and it needs to all fit in the fridge/freezer.
- Lose last 7lbs so that putting on a bathing suit doesn’t make me cry.
- Find out about things to do in Tallahassee, FL since we may spend a day there.
- Make sure my TiVos are all lined up to record the right shows while we’re gone.
- Reserve a spot at the vet for the dogs to be boarded. Sell house to pay for boarding them for a week.
- Finish preparing for Blogher since we’ll leave for that just a few days after beach.
- Buy new outfit(s) for Blogher that are NOT stained.
- Unbox books so I can find the ones I want to take to the beach.
- Decide what of NikkiZ’s possessions are truly “necessary” to take to the beach since we will be taking a small sedan and packing it full.
- Sell sedan and buy van.
- Decide what board games to take: Taboo and Apples to Apples are musts
- Paint toenails.
- Find my watch because I’m miserable without it.

2. You already look extremely awesome in a bathing suit, so just enjoy your softwiches and don’t stress about attaining some arbitrary number.
11. Both of the beach houses we’ve rented in FL had a full array of board games available to use. I don’t know if yours will for sure, but maybe. All sew, water bout mat gap?
Apples to Apples is our favorite game! sounds fun, I could use a beach trip…
I’m jealous. I wanted to go to Blogher too. Sigh. Enjoy the beach!
Hmm, sounds like you are coming awfully close to my neck of the swamps, I mean woods, in Florida. Hope you guys have a great time at the beach!
I live in Tallahassee and to be honest there is not that much to do here. You could take a drive down one of the canopy roads or visit some of the museums or the capital.
What beach are you staying at? We just came back from Cape San Blas and it was awesome.
Have fun!!
Suggestion: Since you’re doing 1,000 things to make everyone else happy, make #12 go for a pedicure. Let someone pamper YOU for an hour or so.
When our college group of 20 gets together, I’m the food buyer ($500, at least). One of the things that went over really well was buying small premade pizza crusts and then buying the sauce, pepperoni, cheese, bell pepper, green olives, etc. I cooked hamburger meat and sausage.Everyone could make their own pizza with whatever they wanted! A lot of the stuff doesn’t have to be refrigerated or it’s small. I also bought some emrils vodka pasta sauce and doctored it up with crushed tomaotes, vodka, and a few other things. All items that don’t have to be kept cold.
I go nuts when I can’t find my watch either. Makes me very sad. Sounds like a FUN time in store for the Zoots though. Good luck with the food thing. That’d probably drive me over the edge. LOL!
I’d suggest enchilada casserole. Get several packs of the shelf-stable flour tortillas, many cans of Nalley’s chili (or your favorite kind), a few cans of plain pinto beans to dilute the fat/salt content on the chili a little, and a brick of cheddar to grate over the top.
You can either put some of the chili/bean mix inside each tortilla and roll them up, or just put a layer down flat and cover it with the mix. Either way, keep layering, pour the last of your chili over the top, grate on some cheese and bake at 350 til bubbly and hot through.
I’ve made it for up to 30 people, it’s easy, and you only have to keep the cheese cold.
I just got back from the beach. Have a great time.
My T13 is up.
those are my two favorite games, too!
I hope you have a great time at the beach!
I’m funny about my watch … I can’t stand going out without having it on … but as soon as I get back home i want it off off off. LOL
I went to college in Tallahassee, there isn’t much to do. However, if you leave the city limits and drive to Wakulla (about 30 minutes out), you will find Wakulla Springs. There are walking trails, springs to swim in, a boat ride where you see alligators larger than your car, it’s really a nice day and it’s one of those $5 per car or whatever deals.
Have you considered getting business cards for Blogher? People there would probably be really interested in your design work.
Be sure the TIVO is all set, that needs to be moved up to the highest priority!
Have a great trip!
Happy Thursday, I played too…
7lbs? i still have 20 to lose and my lil darling is only 1 day younger than yours =/
i used to feel SOOO naked w/o my watch, but i somehow scratched my lil darling’s leg when she was 3mos old (i guess she rubbed against the winder thingie) and now she has a little scar. ever since then? i haven’t worn a watch…
i LOVE taboo, but never heard of the other game….
i agree w/Trish…make #12 higher up on your list and spoil yourself!
I love playing Taboo! Hope you have fun at the beach!
