This summer has been insane. With the drama classes, the summer camps, the fevers, the birthdays, the traveling, the beach, the traveling some more, the BlogHer, the heat, the boob sweat, the broken cars, the fixed cars, and the heat. INSANE.
But the last few weeks? With two out of state trips, one requiring a plane? I feel like I’m a little, well, spent.
I told my husband last night: “I am now declaring that I am not going to do any domestic chores between now and the weekend before school starts. I will only do what needs to be done to keep us alive. No more.” I will wash my own clothes, and maybe NikkiZ’s - but possibly not. I will probably make MrZ do that. I might cook, if I’m hungry. But possibly not. I may just wear dirty clothes and eat straight from the can for the next 10+ days. I also may soak in the tub every night, but possibly not shower. Showering is tiring. I think I will catch up on my trashy tabloids and my TiVo - but I won’t even think about looking at one bit of HTML or CSS. I am dedicating the next 10 days to the rotting of my brain and my body.
You may call it: Wallowing in Filth. I call it: Therapy. And also: Revitalizing.
On August 6th? The Saturday before school starts? I’ll pick up the broom. Until then? Help me make sure NikkiZ doesn’t eat any kitty litter, okay? Thanks.
SHIT! I just clicked “publish” and then looked at my calendar and realized August 6th is WAAY closer than 10 days away. LilZ’s middle school orientation is THURSDAY. Where is my brain? His school starts one week from TOMORROW. Which means two things: 1) I don’t have time to be lazy, I have to get the kid ready for school and 2) SHIT!

i remember the “good ol’ days” when school started after summer actually ended, like after Labor day.
of course, I also walked uphill, both ways, in the snow, with no shoes just newspapers bound to my feet, to school everyday - even Satruday and Sunday….
wow the school starts way way early in your neighborhood. my son doesn’t start until first week of sept.
Actually Aug 6th is a Sunday… I know this because I get married on Aug 5th THIS SATURDAY. So um… yeah.. It’s close. But you can take 3 days of laziness… we all know you’d crack after day 3 anyways…

I hear ya. I just want to sit in my bedroom and watch TV, maybe even just Miami Ink (have you gotten into that one yet?) for 10 days straight.
I just need someone to bring me refreshments periodically.

I would sooooo like to take a hiatus from all things household!!! Sadly my work is just beginning as we just moved and now have to pack for vacation. Kind of ironic.
school starts next week? that’s even earlier than when some of the colleges start the fall semester.
