Weekly Wrap-Up - Zoot Bullet Style
Category: Randomly |
  • LilZ amazingly offered me a nap when he got home from school yesterday. I declined the nap but asked if it was okay if I touched up my roots (I spelled that “routes” on the first publish of this entry. HEE. So Tired.) and sat in the garage for 25 minutes so they didn’t have to smell the hair-dye. “Yeah, Mom. I’ll watch the baby while you stink up the garage.” Hee.
  • I love that they’re predicting storms tonight, while I’m on the road late and without MrZ. Thanks Mother Nature, I appreciate that. It’s not rained hardly at all this summer, and you choose this weekend? You obviously didn’t get my memo about needing clear skies and safe traveling conditions, did you?
  • There was a kid in the ER the other night that had gotten bit by his dog. When the lady next to him asked what kind of dog it was, he said, “The Black one.” Those damn black dogs.
  • I’m trying to con everyone in our family into running the Big Spring Jam 5k with me in a few weeks. I think I’m figuring if they all sign up, I can’t back out. I’m sure they would rather me leave them out of it. I’m even going to try to get my Dad to come in town and run it with me. Whatever it takes. Do you want to run it with me?
  • LilZ said that one of his classes has 7th ang 8th graders in it. “One of the guys had a mustache.” DAMN.
  • I am so damn glad it’s Friday I actually woke up and immediately did the Happy Dance of Thank Freakin’ God this week is OVER.
  • MrZ would like all of you to know that if you liked either Angels and Demons or The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown, then you should go out today and buy James Rollins’ Map of Bones because it is BETTER. I’m going to read it after I re-read the entire Series of Unfortunate Events (the last one comes out Oct. 13th, I want to be ready). When he saw the title, he said “Two of my favorite things!” I think he met Geography and Forensics, not necessarily Maps and Bones. Hee.

*I almost bit MY black dog a few hours ago, he kept waking me up all. damn. night.

*OMG, we were just talking about the BSJ 5K last night! we were thinking about trying it because you get a free one-day pass, and we really want to see the N. Miss. All-Stars and the Wailers on Sat. night, but we don’t want to drop the full $25 for each of us to get in. Considering my bizarre string of recent injuries, I think I’ll leave it to my husband, tho. I’ll be your cheerleader, totally.

*I’ve heard in-depth descriptions and taxonomic classifications of middle school mustaches that would shake you to you very core. Ick.

*TOTALLY getting that book for Mike. He LOVES the dan brown books, and he kind of likes maps, too. hee.

*Is there a TGIF-like abbreviation for “you so deserve it to be Friday”? And can we throw a Z for Zeus in there somewhere?

  2. ambrosia Says:

mustaches look so stupid on kids. how scary that your son now has to face that every day.

  3. Jessie Says:

I did a “Happy it’s Friday” Dance this morning, too. I can’t wait to check out that book. I’ll add it to my list. I’m on a reading binge lately and am actually reading Angels & Demons right now. If that one is better I’m going to have to put it at the top of my list and read it right away.

  4. Haley Says:

Wow, you have the most thoughtful, wonderful and intelligent tween I have ever heard of. LilZ sounds like a great kid. Random acts of kindness sometimes blow my mind. Lucky you.

  5. junkie` Says:

Tell MrZ thanks for the tip……just bought two memoirish books yesterday, and I wanted a good fiction after blowing through those. And (from experience) I trust him.

  6. cursingmama Says:

I tried to warn you about this crazy facial hair thing - first it’s there arm pits - then it’s the chin. And then they run off and get married and I’m a grandma. (okay, we’re not that far along yet - but I can see it coming)

  7. Tara Says:

I’m going to have to try the Map of Bones book. Thanks, MrZ, for the recommendation!

And Zoot, you simply MUST tell me how to raise my son like yours, because LilZ? Is an ANGEL and a MIRACLE and the kid all of us wish we had. And you can tell him I said so. *mwah!* (he’ll make some woman very, very happy someday)

  8. Elizabeth Says:

Isn’t it wonderful having an older son who not only can take care of the baby, but wants too? I thank my lucky stars for Ryan every day. I don’t know WHAT I’m going to do when they go back to school!

Tell Mr. Z. thanks for sharing his book recommendation. I like all the Dan Brown books.

  9. Jill Says:

I didn’t realize the last book in the Unfortunate Events series came out in October. Whoo hoo! And thanks to MrZ for the book recommendation. And LilZ totally gets a props for being an awesome kid.

  10. Suzy Q Says:

If he liked Map of Bones, he’ll also love Decipher by Stel Pavlou.

No, I am not Stel Pavlou.

  11. jes Says:

If I lived closer, I’d love to run the Big Spring Jam with you. Or, it would be more like me heaving and crawling and complaining, and less like me actually running and moving my body in a form of exercise.

Additionally: I am jealous of you. I woke up thinking it was Thursday, and treaded off to another day at work. I heard them say it was Friday on the radio and I actually got ticked off because: Friday? It’s not Friday. What a tease.

And then just to make sure, I opened my cell phone to look at the day & date. And guess what? Today is FRIDAY.

    And lo, I am tired.

  12. Joy Says:

I love the fact that LilZ offered you a nap opportunity. This speaks loads in favor of having a baby when you already have a 12 yr. old. And what a good, generous heart! I know you’re proud of him. :)

  13. Silly Hily Says:

LilZ rocks. By the way, how was his first week of school?
    And seriously, a mustache!?
