I’ve been trying to clean-up my blog a wee bit the last few weeks. I’m slowly scanning my way through my archives, starting at the first entry and working my way up. It’s a slow process since I’ve written over 2000 entries in the last three years. I’m trying to add categories where there were none as well as delete entries that were part of the “post funny pictures I found on Yahoo! News” phase. As I’ve been skimming through the entries, usually trying to decide how to categorize them, I’ve noticed a few changes in my blogging style. Hopefully, for the better.
- I used to cuss a lot more. I even used the f-word several times. Can you believe it? I stopped using the f-word for LilZ’s sake, because he didn’t like me saying it. It wasn’t that big of a deal to stop because I don’t use it often in real life. I’m more of a shit-damn-crap-hell kinda girl.
- I did a lot of quizzes. You know - those quizzes that tell you What Kind Of Shoe Are You? or What Dessert Are You? I bed I’ve done fifty of those. Way to come up with exciting blog material there, Zoot.
- My husband and son were Mr. Zoot and Little Zoot. Isn’t that weird? I just always thought they were MrZ and LilZ.
- On Fridays I always did “Friday Bullets” where I just listed random stuff from the week. Usually, it was about the TV I had watched. I don’t remember intentionally stopping that practice, but it sure does trace my love of bullets back to the beginning.
- I did a lot of photo challenges. There were (and still are) many web sites that offered daily photo inspiration in the form of random words they would email you. This would always be good for a few entries a week. I guess this faded when I started my love affair with Flickr. Now, I just submit photos to new groups constantly and you all are spared my boring photo quests.
- There are a lot of bloggers I used to read, and linked to quite often, that no longer exist. It’s kinda sad, really. I miss Oliquig.

Aw, crap. I miss Oliquig, too.
I’m doing the same thing, except I’m going thru and turning off comments on ALL of my old posts to hopefully stop some of the spam.
I was wondering. Have you upgraded to MT 3.3? I think I remember you doing that but just wondering if you had any pointers.
Last night when I should have been studying for my Business Calculus II exam I have tonight… I was playing with my old posts and downloading the .zip file that took 10 minutes to extract.
I used to call my guy Mr. X as an homage to Anne Sewell who used to refer to major characters in that fashion. I never understood why she did that, but it mystified me as a kid.
Now, I write just X - probably because I am lazy.
Hey, don’t rid of the bullets!
Having just transferred archives over to my new blog, I can relate (although I only have a couple hundred entries so far). I am appalled at how much I wrote about the WEATHER. I found myself thinking, seriously? another post about weather? was there NOTHING else to write about that day? I also did a lot of those surveys - the ones that ask 50 questions about you and are always the same.
Needless to say, not ALL of my archives made it over to the new blog.
I would use bullets if I knew how. So I use lawyerly numerals. Sometimes I switch it up and go with the a, b c thing. Tres exciting!!
Way off topic, but whatever… what did you think of HIMYM last night?
And now we lose Fluid Pudding. It is sad. It’s like when your favorite tv show or book ends…and you just one more. But it ’s different because some of these people you exchange email with and interact and you just wonder…whatt’s up. How are you? But they’re gone
I miss Oliquig too!
Her roommate still updates from time to time.
hmm I wonder what the hell happened to her
