Well…remember how I was trying to make plans for the trip earlier today? I’ve made no progress since then. We are still waiting on answers to a few questions like: Will my brother find reasonable flights to get him there and home at times that allow for minimal work missed while still allowing him time to visit with family? (The outlook is not good - he went for a run to mull it over. I opted to eat bean dip.) The other, kinda important question: WHERE IS MY SON?

He has been visiting family in Virginia for the last few days. The schedule shifted a little bit today and they headed south so they could make a stop in the Smokies and maybe hit up Dollywood. Unfortunately - cell phone reception seems to be non-existant for his Nana so no one has been able to locate them to tell them that we need to meet up at a different time and place than originally planned. And you know, I kinda hate to even go to bed without hearing from them, much less cross state lines. If I find out he’s been abducted by Dolly Parton, I’m going to be pissed.

So, we wait. And just pack and clean and organize like we know what our plans are, but be prepared to change them at any moment in time. Nothing like missing family members (possibly abducted by big-busted country divas) to ease one’s pre-travel anxiety.

Bless your heart, Zoot. My family is spread literally across the country. Both parents are young, but are both terminally ill. My brother and I are over 2000 miles away from them. It’s random, and the total reason I joined the blogging sect.

Coordinating family is tough. I’m empathizing for you as I sit in CA watching after my parents while my brother is in TN and my husband is in NC.

I can’t imagine needing to get in touch with my child across the country.

Again, best to you and your family.

I’m sorry about your uncle, and you are so right about telling people how you feel about them! We’re not that kind of family either…

Best wishes with your trip (and the planning involved! and finding LilZ)

I’m so sorry to hear about your uncle Zoot. You guys travel safe.
