Remember how I re-set up my TV Blog under Wordpress to tinker around with it? Learn the ropes of the blogging tool the cool kids are using? Well, let’s just say I’m having way too much fun with the tinkering.
(That sounds waaaay kinkier than I intended.)
Look what I did over here. I coded it so that (a) the commenter boxes alternated in colors and (b) my comment boxes have their own color different from everyone else’s. So, if you want to ever find out what fantastic commentary I add to the discussion (like, “WHEEE!”) - it will be easy to find because I’m pink! And no one else is! Just me!
I don’t know if it’s necessarily that Wordpress is better or easier, but something about it is more fun than Movable Type. It may be that it’s new and I’m bored with MT, but for right now? I’m having loads of fun. And for the first time in years, I’m entertaining the thought of switching my main blog to WP.
I mean - my own personal color! How cool is that?

I’m using a wordpress blog over at homeschooljournal.net…. I don’t have the customization luxury that you have, though. And I’m frustrated that I can’t figure out a way to put coding for statcounter’s invisible counter on it without some of the coding showing up as text on the page.
I just saw the colored comment boxes on someone else’s blog the other day and thought it was cool (that the blog owner had a different colored box). WordPress is getting more and more tempting for me too.
I use Wordpress and I’m pretty happy with it.
I like my different colored comment boxes. Sadly, I have very little clue how to tinker with it.
I’m slightly jealous of your tinkering, because I’ve been wanting to tinker, but have no site with which I can tinker.
So, next time, be sure to include screenshots.
But, for those of us who are blocked by our employers from any image-viewing-on-the-internet, don’t upload it to Flickr or Photobucket.
This is me, living vicariously through your tinkering.
How can I get a personal color? Is it something easy that an Amy can do?
Yay! Wordpress will take over the WOOOORRRRLLLDD!
It is fun, isn’t it? I’ve done the alternating comment color with a past design of mine and am going to use it again in a new design fairly soon. I just love playing around with all the nifty things WordPress can do.
Yay for pink!!
That is pretty cool. I just have to say one wee little thing. That teal/blue/whatever IS BLINDING. But still tre cool.
I’m getting jealous. Should you say, need another lab rat blog, you know where to find me.
You know, I’ve heard about Wordpress before, but I never visited their website until just now when you raved about it.
It does seem like their product is pretty user-friendly. And it offers features that either Movable Type doesn’t have, or else I’m just too tech-unfriendly) to figure it out on my own!
I might have to look into switching myself. Like I said though, I’m tech-unfriendly, so I wonder if I could switch my current layout over, along with my posts/comments? I wouldn’t want to have a boring, standard layout if I switched.
Ahahahaha, you’re so silly. I did that, like, two years ago in my stylesheet, and I use MT.
It’s a simple ifcheck, and I use a modified version of it now. Check the comments on my “WTF” entry.
My constant refrain is “please teach me (us)!!”
Granted I don’t know how or when you’d EVER find time to write a tutorial (or 12), what with your job, children, blogs(!!!) and all but I think if you ever put together a “how to” entry (or blog!) it would be dynamite: easy to read, clear and just plain rad!
