Damn you, camera…
I was taking pictures two nights ago of NikkiZ in her new dress that Brit sent her when like that…it went crazy on me. It was trying to adjust the lens by my command to zoom in or out, but the motor was stuck and it couldn’t zoom it all the way out or all the way in. It was broken. AGAIN.
This is the third time I’ve had to send it in for repairs. Luckily I bought the Best Buy service plan so they send it in and pay for the repairs for me, but it’s still a pain in the ass. Part of me wants to blame the camera, but I hate to do that because other than when it breaks – it’s a really awesome camera that makes it easy to take good pictures. But in reality, I believe it’s my fault. When I opted for that camera, I wanted to go up a notch from the one before. I wanted more complexity, more options, more freedom. Unfortunately, I also carry the thing with me everywhere and a camera that bulky doesn’t need to be toted around in my purse.
Luckily – we still have my old camera which now belongs to LilZ. It doesn’t work great, it gets stuck on settings and doesn’t always let you zoom. BUT – it takes pictures. Allowing us not to miss out on documenting nights when NikkiZ has her awesome excited sessions where she laughs and squeals and dances over something as simple as a Livestrong bracelet.
(Of course, her brother was there cracking her up too…he has that power over her.)
We ordered the Canon S3 and now I am a bit worried about it. I don’t see other users of the S3 mentioning that they have problems like this, so maybe they are resolved? Anyhoo, the camera arrives today and I am so excited! Sorry about yours.
I am sorry about your camera problems, Miss Zoot, but that picture was totally worth it!
You know…our camera is starting to go and I was thinking about getting that model (I don’t remember you saying what it was but it says on the photos in your Flickr account) and now I’m thinking maybe not? Do you think it’s just this camera that’s evil or the model?

This is the third time you’re sending in that camera?
You know, the first two times they’re supposed to send it in for free repairs. If you bring it in for a third time while it’s still under the plan, they’ll replace it for you free of charge. Just go up and ask.
My laptop (which I’ve had for a grand total of four months) is on it’s second run right now. I’m asking for a new one next time something happens.
I lug my camera around in my purse everywhere and always have and never have problems. It’s definitely your camera, not you. You need to rant and rave until they just give you a new one already!
Zooty, dang 3rd times a charm hope it’s fixed once and for all or they give you an upgrade / replacement camera.
I’ve got a Olympus Camedia C-735 or something like that does good pictures it’s fairly new but well see how it goes 2-3yrs down the line.
