They don’t tell you about these risks at La Leche
Category: Motherhood, NaBloPoMo - '06 |

I just got back from feeding NikkiZ. Now that she’s in the toddler class, going to nurse her is becoming quite an endeavor. First of all, there is not a rocking chair to retreat to if the kids are trying to all pile on me while she nurses. Secondly, all of the kids are walking so the pile-ons are quite dangerous. They become more climb-ons as the kids scale my back, using NikkiZ’s head as a stepping stone.

But today? It reached a whole new level of dangerous. Today I got beamed in the head by a plastic vegetable. HARD. One of the kids just threw the toy at me and it hit me in the side of the face and it took every ounce of willpower I had not to scream, “SHIT!”

Now - this kid is not normally a problem and I didn’t feel the need to make sure any action was taken or anything - but it hurt like HELL. I already planned on taking the mid-day nursing time out starting next week because I don’t think NikkiZ needs the daytime supplement anymore. But now it seems like a necessary move if only to protect me from future fake-food assaults.

I can see it now: Nursing Mother Dies in Freak Toy Tomato Incident.

I think your nursing looks dangerous just because of the recent pic of The Teeth on Nikki!! But toddlers with an arm…that sounds a little risky too.
