I’m thinking “a little behind” is an understatement
Category: Grumblecakes, NaBloPoMo - '06 |

Wow. It has just occurred to me this morning how many things are on my To Do list and have been there for weeks, if not longer. I’m thinking the majority of the reason is the marathon training, but the new workday schedule and change in commute time doesn’t help either. In case you were wondering: Here is a list of Crap I Need To Hurry Up And Get To Already.

  • I am five episodes behind on Supernatural. That doesn’t reflect on how little I like the show, more on how MUCH I like it and don’t want to just watch it while I’m on the computer because that shows takes a little bit of concentration. Unlike, let’s say, Family Guy.
  • I haven’t vacuumed in two weeks. When you have 3 dogs and 2 cats? That is waaaay too long.
  • NaBloPoMo is not going to end in success over here, I think I’m starting to see. Maybe setting a goal of 100 posts this month (as opposed to my usual 70+) was a little ambitious considering I started a new job and I’m training for a marathon. Oh - and there’s the whole family thing I have going on too…
  • I haven’t done our family calendars for MrZ’s side of the family yet. We will be seeing them all at Thanksgiving so I kinda need to get those done before next week.
  • I have not checked any of my Harry Potter news sites in about a week. I usually check them at least once a day. Is there anything I should know about? Is there a book 7 title yet?
  • We never did carve our pumpkin for Halloween, or go to the corn maze. Two things LilZ loves and me “forgetting” them kinda makes me feel like the crappiest mother on the planet.
  • I am not one for eyebrow maintenance…I have only gotten my eyebrows waxed a few times in my whole life. But even I look in the mirror and think: “Man. Those things need some work.”
  • Halloween decorations have been taken down, but they are still in bins either on the porch or in the garage. Not in the attic yet, where I swore I would take them the weekend after Halloween.
  • I have not even thought about MrZ’s birthday which is coming up in two weeks. What do you get the guy who only wants things you can’t afford?
  • I really, really, really need to shave.

My list is just as long … and I don’t have little ankle biters around to complicate it! Mine is long because I took that vacation to NY to visit family at the end of last month … not nearly as grueling as a marathon!

As far as what to get MrZ, it depends on whether he is sentimental, a grown-up, or still just a big kid at heart.

I have a similar gift problem. What do you get a man who buys himself everything he wants as soon as he wants it? And he seems to have selective hearing when I say “stop, I’m Christmas shopping.”

my husb’s birthday is next week. he asked for a tool. I’m getting him said tool becaue he didnt’ ask for anything else. NOT ONE OTHER THING. i don’t even know the name/pourpose/size/function of this tool, but dammit, its either that or socks, and frankly I have enough laundry to do as it is!

good luck with your list! I’ll be working on mine today as well!

Noah’s birthday is in 2 weeks too.
Our house is BURSTING with toys (I cannot throw anything out, it makes me wonder what normal people do with old toys. Do they just not buy as many toys as I do). This year he needs a party and I need a venue since we are under construction here. blah

I wish I had some brilliant idea for a birthday gift. Considering I am two years behind on my sister’s gift? I will be of no help. But know I feel your pain! :)

  6. Kym Says:

My list is growing as well, but I have a question, what do you do with the calendars for Mr.Z’s side? I am curious if that means events you will attend?

I just want to give you a little bit of encouragement (maybe?). You have inspired me to train for a half marathon. I’m not going to do it until April, so I’m starting off training for a 5K. My sister-in-law is going to do it with me as well. You truly have been my inspiration!

my list is pretty pathetic as well. i did a quick run down on one of my posts, but i think i really need to lay it out / type it out / write it down or something so i can just see it and do it already! i still have summer clothes that need to get put away!

Ya know, we didn’t carve pumpkins or go to the corn maze either. And I felt like a really shitty mom. At least it’s nice to know that I am not the only mom who spaced that out!

OMG Let me know when you find out because my husband is the same way! On top of that I’m a SAHM with little to no income and it always feels weird buying him gifts with “his” money!

oh my god…i’m crazy behind on tv…it’s not normal.

  12. Janet Says:

Not too much going on at the Leaky Cauldron, other than a blow by blow description of the trailer (which will be shown in theaters on 11/17) for OOTP…

And I’m the same way with Supernatural and vaccuuming, btw LOL!

My to do list sucks today because I basically took yesterday off from life (in bed all day with a cold) and that was the day that things decided to pile on my to do list. Not to mention the fact that I don’t think I’ve vaccuumed in about two weeks either and ditto for shaving my legs.

I have a list…but I can’t find it. I lost it during my errand running. And I just don’t care to make a new one!

  16. Linda Says:

I say that your posting this month has rocked! I don’t know if you’ll hit the 100 mark, but it’s been so much fun for this reader to check out your blog knowing that there will be something new and fun to read. (I guess what I really mean to say is thanks!)

As for the birthday gift thing - when you figure that out, please let me know.

Don’t be so hard on yourself. Isn’t it ironic that the more stuff we have to do, the more we throw our hands up and feel too overwhelmed to want to do a dang thing about it? Well, that’s me anyway. I basically stop thinking, and just do it. I realized long ago I’m not Super Woman and just try to do a little bit at a time. Before I know it, everything is done and it’s time to start the cycle all over again. Congrats on the race. I think it’s inspiring that you did this for yourself.

You answered this in your next point… a shave.

    *ducks and runs*

Does MrZ have a place to hang his clothes yet? Maybe a closet organizing system for Christmas?

And I’m with you re Nikki’s presents. Get her maybe one thing and just let her enjoy what the grandparents and aunts and uncles pick out.

Old toys go on craigslist, they’ll be gone in less than a day.
