Sometimes my mind lets my body make decisions

I woke up at 5am. I can’t believe it. Some of you may be thinking, “Damn. That’s early.” But for the last couple of weeks, I’ve been waking up between 4-4:30am every morning. Naturally. No alarm, no nothing. Just my mind telling my body it was time to get up. And my body not putting up the fight it probably should.

For much of this time it was race anxiety causing me to get up early. This week it was more the domestic part of my brain saying, “If you don’t get up and do laundry no one is going to have clean clothes to wear today!” I mean, you know, LilZ has already had his share of middle school embarrassing moments. But I think having to go to school in my clothes would be something he wouldn’t be able to live down.

But this morning? I woke up, looked at the clock, and it said 5am. Of course – part of me is in panic-mode. How am I going to write three blog entries? And make lunches? And shower? Ha! Yeah, like I’m going to shower. But the other stuff is kinda necessary . But really? I’m kinda glad. It means my mind is letting my body get what it needs for a change. Which is sleep. Good for me.

Now – do you think just throwing some jars of NikkiZ’s baby food into LilZ’s lunch box will be sufficient?

Pudding or Jello might be a tad less embarassing for him. ;-)

This may sound crazy, but I envy you sleeping until 4-4:30 a.m. I have terrible insomnia and average four hours and rarely consecutive. Since the beginning of October, it has been less.

    And yes, good for you.

In 6th grade I used to steal jars of my little brother’s pear baby food. That stuff is like candy. Maybe not so much with the strained meat though.

As long as it’s Gerber’s Dutch Apple Dessert you’re sending him to school with, I don’t see a problem.

    Damn, that tastes good. What?

Do you have to get up as early for the new job?

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
