OH MY GOD. This photo showed up in the random section of my sidebar and I thought, “Who in the hell are those kids?”
But seriously! What happened to my kids? This picture looks like it was taken years and years and years ago. They are both so much bigger. And older. And taller. And less like babies.
Yes, I know it has been a long time since LilZ has looked like a baby, but you get my point. He’s practically a grown-up and it’s killing me.
This one was taken on NikkiZ’s birthday and it’s hard to believe there is only a year between the two photos. I find this all incredibly overwhelming and would like to petition the gods of time to stop with the progressing already and give this frazzled mother time to sit back and savor a few of these moments before replacing them with new ones.
With as hectic as this week has been…seeing these photos together really gave me a slap in the face. I need to take a breather, quit freaking about laundry and dinner and try to hang out with my kids a bit before it’s too late.
And by “hanging out with my kids” I mean “make them cook dinner and do laundry while mommy soaks in the tub.”

I have to tell myself the same thing all the time. Stop and enjoy it, they are only like this for a fleeting period of time. If only mine were big enough to do the laundry…
Whoa! That is a crazy difference one year made. I think it is LilZ’s longer hair that makes him seem so much older. With the longer hair he definitely looks much more high school heart throb. Or rather junior high heart throb. I can see why you are having all that phone trouble - the girls love the long hair!!
Also - I love, love, love NikkiZ’s dress!
LilZ has changed A LOT since the last time I saw him - when he was 5!!!!!
You have such beautiful kids.
I think the last one is a great idea
I actually noticed that LilZ looked like he had grown up a LOT this past year a few weeks ago in one of the sidebar pics. I was going to say something, but I didn’t want to freak you out. Or I just forgot. One of the two.
This is so true. Where the hell does the time go? How do the kids grow up so fast? I just watched the movie “click” last night, and omg, it made me realize that we forget to just be happy with our lives and our kids. Time goes by too fast. So enjoy that bath!
Wow!
You just have such a beautiful family!
You always make me laugh. I have three boys and my oldest is ten. He is already pulling away and it breaks me. I get the same shock every year when I compare the Christmas card photo.
