Happy E/K Day!

Today is E/K Day – and I am almost as excited about this as I was about Christmas. E/K Day is the day following Christmas that LilZ and I spend the entire day shopping and eating and possibly seeing movies if we have time. It’s the day we spend gift cards we received on Christmas (the entire family knows of the tradition and some give gift cards just for it), and pretty much LilZ is in charge the entire day. It is loads of fun and it is especially important now that there is another kid around the house taking some of LilZ’s attention away.

I am lucky enough to have today off work, so it worked out great to have it on this day because we don’t have to worry about anyone else losing time with us by doing it on the weekend. This also gives me the luxury of taking NikkiZ back to her old daycare and having some free time to hang out with her teachers and classmates that I have missed so much.

I’ll post later about my New Year’s resolutions and how they’re going (So far so good! Day number 1 was a success!). Until then – I’d like to hear about yours. That way I’ll have time to change mine and steal yours if they sound good.

I resolve to eat more chocolate.

    So far, I’m on track.

I set a goal to live healthier overall. Not the typical “lose weight” goal, but make doctors appointments, quit some bad things, you know…overall healthy lifestyle.

  3. I’m so jealous. I love your family’s traditions, Zoot. Why is it called E/K though?

  4. Jennifer says:

We have a day just like that! It’s Girl’s Day here and we do all the fun girly things that my husband hates -which means bookstores, museums, and French food. How fun. Have a great day!!!

  5. Amanda says:

That does sound like so much fun! Hope you guys have a great day together.
Please tell me you aren’t giving up Diet Coke for the new year? Then I really will hate you… running and being so healthy.

    Happy New Year!

E/K Day sounds like so much fun!

I’m posting my resolutions on my website today, so you can check them out there, if you’d like. It’s quite a list.

  7. Frema says:

This might be a silly question, but what does “E/K” stand for?

  8. Zandria says:

    E/K = eeking kookiness. :)

You’re such an awesome mom! I hope I’m half as cool as you are as the girl! grows…

I’m not typically a resolution type o gal, but this year I am going to try to be more patient, care less about the cleanliness of my house, and more about enjoying moments with my daughter.

    Enjoy your day!

For some reason this year I decided to make resolutions.

    1) Go to bed earlier.
    2) Turn my computer off at 8pm. (this will help w/ #1)
    3) Drink less soda by not keeping it in the house.
    4) Learn Origami (I bought a 365 day Origami box Calendar half priced; have already made a “dog’s head” and “nightingale”)
    5) Read a book a month
    6) Try a new restaurant every month (cheap or fancy; just new)
    7) 55 pushups a day

But see, I’m waiting till you post yours so I can steal them. So we’re at an impasse. ;) Honestly though, I need five minutes to sit down, clear my head, and firm mine up. I feel like I’ve been set to “whirling dervish” for the past two weeks. Where the heck did my brain go?

  13. Elyse says:

    1. The usual fitness one that I make EVERY year and then break about March. So here’s to two months of working out!
    2. Get organized!!
    3. Stop procrastinating!
    4. Learn to be chill. Life is too short to freak.

  14. angie says:

    Isn’t the “E/K” their initials?

  15. Have a great day today! I am so jealous!
I had a whole bunch of resolutions written up but I trashed ‘em- I thought, who am I kidding?
Seriously, though, I just want 2007 to be better than 2006- 2006 sucked, at least for me…

  16. Susan says:

Happy E/K day – sounds like lots and lots of fun. And I am very sure LilZ enjoys “mom” time.
Thanks for the great Christmas card from here in PA…and ps – Penn State stomped Tennessee…….

Wow I love this idea. I may have to steal it and have a day with just my daughter.

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
