Happy Valentine’s Day!
Category: Randomly |

In honor of this day of luvvvvv…a list of Things I Love!

  • My family. (I figured I’d better add that in before the other things lest you all think I love them less than some food items. Which is probably debatable.)
  • Hot! Fresh! Now! Original Glazed Krispy Kremes!
  • French Fries dipped in Frosties. (Although in a perfect world it would be McDonald’s french fries in Wendy’s frosties.)
  • Talking in bed with my husband. They say having a TV in the bedroom reduces that time, but not for us. Last night we paused the TV to talk about MRSA. If that’s not quality time — discussing antibiotic-resistant flesh-eating bacteria — I don’t know what is.
  • Office supplies. Namely: Pens, calendars, and notebooks with pretty covers.
  • Converse all-stars.
  • Top 40 Radio.
  • Warm and/or fun socks.
  • Reading blogs. (I know! Right?)
  • Taking pictures obsessively and pissing off everyone around me. (Although I’m really behind in uploading them to Flickr. That’s for sure.)
  • Maps! You can take the girl out of the Geography, but you can’t take the Geography out of the girl!
  • Southern Food. Specifically: Sweet Tea. Fried Okra. BBQ (pulled, not chipped.).
  • Neil Patrick Harris.
  • Drinking coffee with my Dad in the early mornings when we’re visiting each other. Whether I’m at his house or he’s at mine, we tend to get up early and drink coffee and chat. It’s awesome.
  • Well, shit. Make that the entire cast of How I Met Your Mother.
  • Except for Robin. She’s okay - but I don’t love her.
  • Where was I?
  • Lotion!
  • Phone calls with my Mom.
  • Sandalwood and Rose scented stuff from Bath and Body Works. (Thanks to Janet for introducing me to that.)
  • Baths. Even though you’re not supposed to soak in a warm bath after a race (Bad! Bad! Bad for your joints!) I love it anyway.
  • Eating with chopsticks.
  • Gerber Daisies. I know that’s pretty generic, but I’ve always loved them.
  • Wine from a box. (Don’t tell my brother I said that.)
  • Sunday dinner with the in-laws. I have become desperately dependent on that time with my mother-in-law and sister-in-laws. It’s like that weekly dose of Adult Female that keeps me sane.
  • Popular Fiction. Dean Koontz, James Patterson (specifically: Alex Cross Series), Patricia Cornwell (specifically: Kay Scarpetta Series) and Dan Brown.
  • Hazelnut Coffee with Coffeemate Hazelnut creamer.
  • Bath bombs from Lush. One of those luxuries I never buy myself, but cry when other people buy them for me.
  • Seeing movies with LilZ. This usually involves copious amounts of buttered popcorn and candy.
  • Facials. Something I got hooked on Valentine’s Day two years ago. I had one recently done with non-Aveda products. I’ll never do that again.
  • Tattoos. I’d have more if I were (a) rich or (b) creative.
  • Harry Potter (duh). But I’m seriously already suffering extreme anxiety over the coming end of the series. But I don’t want to talk about that right now.
  • Yoga. I don’t do it, but I love that it exists and I love people who love Yoga and hope to someday be one of those people. Especially because they get to carry those cute mats in those cute bags.
  • Turquoise and silver jewelery.
  • Strongbad.
  • Philosophy books. I don’t read them as much as I used to, but I still buy them constantly.
  • Magazines. I’m a total whore for magazines. Except for Parenting mags - for some reason they always end up pissing me off and making me feel guilty and crappy as a mother.
  • Birkenstocks. One of those things I splurge on every few years.
  • Hiking and Camping. A hobby I’ve neglected the last few years, but have sworn to my family we’re going to pick up again this spring/summer. I’m not sure if they’re excited or scared.
  • Bulleted lists.

What do you love?

My husband makes fun of me for LOVING Neil Patrick Harris!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially after he came out of the closet. But he is still too cute :) I always loved the Doogie Howser show.

    Happy Valentine’s Day!

I had a dream last night that I had finally seen someone with the perfect planner and I was going to rush right to Staples the next chance I had to go buy it. I kind of even woke up excited with the possibility that, finally, there was a planner out there that was exactly what I wanted! Then, I realized it was a dream.

I don’t know which is sadder… that I get excited in dreams about office supplies, or that I am genuinely disappointed when I wake up and realize it’s all a dream.

Oh My God - I thought i was the only person who LURVED LUSH. Like, I lurve it so much, with all my heart and soul, my friend who lives in Chicago has to always bring me the Olive Oil Shower gel. And if he doesn’t? I refuse to hang out with him when he is in town (OK, I’ve never really tested that, becuase he always brings it, but I like to pretend) When I get low, I ration it out - I “allow” myself to use it only when I can truly ENJOY my shower. Bath Bombs are saved for the special occasion where I can take a bath in peace, with some wine and a good read. (which means liek twice in the last year. so sad for me)

Ok, now that I have declared my mad, insane love for bath products, I also love:

    Happy Valentine’s Day!

I noticed we have the same taste in poular fiction so I thought I would recommend another series for you. The Alex Delaware series by Jonathon Kellerman is fantastic. Its about a child pyschiatrist and his homicide detective friend. They’re “can’t put this book down, must know ending” reads. Faye Kellerman, Jonathon’s wife, also writes a series of detective type novel about a detective named Peter Decker and his wife Rina. They’re awfully good too. So, since I’m sure you have just so much free time what with the raising children, training for a marathon, working full time thing, I thought I’d recommend them!

  9. Amy W Says:

I love shoes and good fitting bras. Crazy, I know! :)

Speaking of doughnuts, I have a race you need to come to Raleigh to run. It starts at the NC State Bell tower, you then run to Krispy Kreme downtown, eat a dozen hot doughnuts, then run back. And they have puke stations along the way!

  19. Dad Gone Mad Says:

You had me at Krispy Kremes.

  20. lisa Says:

Wow, substitute “alternative” for “top 40″ (but god, they’re almost the same these days) and “sci fi” for “popular fiction” and we’d have the same exact list. Good taste Zoot, good taste.

  21. Chris Says:

I love my Sister, we don’t get to see eachother much, but when we do it sure is nice, and she is a solid go-to-girl for any issues. The only thing, and I guess I will confided in you because you don’t seem to be like this, is that she doesn’t love me as much. Sometimes, on special days when you recognize things you love, she doesn’t even mention me. It is so sad. Nothing a couple of bottle of tequila can’t remedy!!!

    Tequila!!!!

  22. Christine Says:

Have I told you yet how much I love you and your design that I am currently using in my blog? Well now I have! :) Happy Valentine’s Day! Oh, and, I LOVE How I Met Your Mother, - all of ‘em!

  23. Elizabeth Says:

The first ten things on your list? I love ‘em too! (Except for I love MY family, not yours, although I do love yours a little bit too).Movie dates with my son? Uh huh. The cast of HIMYM except for not exactly Robin? yep. Dean Koontz and P. Cornwell’s Kay Scarpetta series? yep. Whorish for magazines? Oh yeah. See how alike we are? ;)

I also love really good spaghetti and meatballs, Law and Order reruns, Warm Vanilla Sugar products from Bath and Body Works, Dream Angels “Heavenly” perfume from Victoria’s Secret, sleeping under a heavy comforter, and pink roses.

  24. johnecother Says:

I do YOGA four times per week although I don’t carry mats or cute bags of any kind. I just use the mats the gym provides.

I have found yoga not only helps my flexibility and physical well being but my writing as well.
