I leave for the airport in an hour and am beyond thrilled. I barely slept at all last night because I’m so excited and desparate to see my family. If the storms in Texas delay my flights at all I may simply start walking home. Just watch me.
Something weird was brought to my attention this morning. There’s someone offering blog designs and blatantly using my templates in their “slideshow” showing the templates they offer. You don’t even have to be familiar with my Free Templates because she left my name in the screenshots. It’s very weird. The site looks a bit defunct because every link I followed was dead, so I’m not too mad, but how weird is that? I know their free, so I guess there’s nothing wrong with other people offering them, I just hope she’s not selling them - that would piss me off. Strange, regardless, to see my templates with my name on them scrolling through her slideshow. I’ve been so busy the last six months I’ve not touch any designs anywhere, so I guess maybe it’s good someone is using them, it’s just weird.
Anyway - I’m on my way home. I’m going to pick NikkiZ up from daycare, increasing the chances of her running towards me when she sees me and I’m going to take your advice and bring cookies to buy her love with. I (heart) scruples.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? Or some bollocks like that.

I dont know if you noticed but down at the bottom she says you have to buy her templates. I love your templates and have used a few of them, it really sucks that someone is so desprate, that they have to steal other’s work.

OH! The running toward you thing? That is the cutest thing ever. I still remember walking through the airport with an ex-co-worker and seeing her 2 year old squirm out of her dad’s arms to run toward her mom. It was then, at 20 something, that I decided that maybe having kids was kind of neat.

And if she is charging for them? That is wrong.
I thought even more blatant that the fact that she steals these was the fact that she tried to kind of blur that fact by calling herself “missyz”. Hmph. As if she could EVER be as great as our Zoot! Imitation may be flattery, but plagiarism and/or intellectual theft is just WRONG.
Here’s hoping (and betting!) NikkiZ just ran straight to mama as soon as you got home!

Now as for the thief in question, I guess I couldn’t muster the proper outrage because:
A. Who would buy a template from somebody who has a blog with a broken template?
B. The template she is using isn’t even one of her own designs (but oddly she leaves the proper credits in place).
C. In her listing that shows you blogs she does say she “has access” to more blogs, but doesn’t actually claim to create them.
D. She is “offering” free Yahoo! Groups and Free Slide.com slideshows, proving unequivocally that her only potential clients are those that are dumber than she is.
E. She “blogged” for less than a month in total, yet lays claims to quite an impressive list of “awards” her broken blog has won. (Naturally without links to the actually awards)
So laugh it up. It may be creepy to be stolen from, but when it is done by somebody this dumb it is just downright funny.
What a freak. It’s like that girl who was stealing all Amalah’s stories and making them her own. Freaks.
NikkiZ is gonna be so excited to see her Mama, you won’t even NEED no stinkin’ cookies!!
Weird is right. That’s how I saw them in the first place, seeing your name right on the samples. Very strange. And she WAS selling them. I don’t know about now, but you should contact her with a cease and desist order.

I would be pretty choked about the template stealing. I use one of yours for my book review site, and I luuuuurve it.
It’s just dumb on her part (and even more so on her “customers”) if they buy from her when they can get them free from you!

I like that she offers blogs for singers, dancers, rappers and actors. I am sure they wouldn’t know where to go for blog design, so it’s a good thing she’s offering her services.

I just received a LOT of hate mail, calling me a theif and liar. I am a work at home mom offering a service. I include the free templates I have found online, but NEVER do I claim to have designed them or do I charge for them. I charge for my service of equipping artists’ blogs with free add-ons and also updating their blogs with artist fliers, tour dates, etc. I’m very sorry you were misinformed.
