Blogging instead of running

I am about to walk out of the door on a run I don’t want to do because (a) I’ve gotten bad with my training and the runs hurt more because of that and (b) my uterus hates me. Lucky for me – I got tagged with a meme so I can’t go run – yet. Yay for distractions!

Top 5 Reasons I blog

1. Because I like to talk. Seriously. I’m always sitting at gatherings and having to say to myself, “Okay. You’ve talked too much. Give someone else a chance for a few minutes.”

2. I love to read blogs. I’ve been reading blogs since back when they were called “Journals” – with my original favorites belonging to the writers I discovered through TWoP. I still read most of those that I discovered then, although most of them only update a few times a year. I started several online journals during that time but they all failed miserably with me only writing to them a few times before quitting. Something about starting a “blog” seemed to require less commitment and grammatical discipline, so I stuck with it.

3. I can’t complete a scrapbook to save my life. I haven’t done Baby Books for either of my kids and my wedding photo album is simply an album with sleeves in it that I put my wedding pictures in. I long for some sort of documentation of my life, but I lack the intestinal fortitude to do anything crafty. Therefore, my blog is a way to document my life and my kid’s lives without the need of glue.

4. Meeting people. I’ve made so many amazing friends through this silly website. Some locally, some global. All important to me in ways I always feel silly describing to non-bloggers. I have tons of stories I tell that start out with, “One of my blogfriends…” You all have much cooler stories than I do and I like to share them with my real world friends.

5. To give MrZ a break. MrZ is my best friend, but even he gets sick of hearing me talk about TV, or how much I love donuts, or how much I hate left-hand turns. My blog gives me an outlet so my husband can have a break from my mundane chatter. He is more grateful for this site than I am at times.

Now – I don’t know who to tag and I really have to go run. SERIOUSLY. MUST. GO. RUN. So, if you do it, leave a comment and I’ll pop by and see if I should have used some of your answers instead.

I’m in the same place as you with the running. I kind of dread it every time, and I’m not even training for anything. I’m proud of your dedication!

Zoot, you like to talk? Nah! Say it isn’t so!!! Hee!

I finally started running and now I’m down with freaking strep AGAIN. Gah! The universe hates me.

    OMG.

I’m hyperventillating…Zoot…THE Zoot visited my blog and did a meme.

    LOL.

Seriously, though, you’re awesome! Thanks for stopping by and doing the meme…enjoy the run!

I think I’ve already done this one. I should know this stuff, shouldn’t I? *lol* Good answers. I agree, except for #1, I’m a bit shy at gatherings.

  5. maricar says:

I’ll definitely do it but it’d have to be later this evening. I wish I could run like you! My ankles and shins always hate me. :)

  6. Sarah says:

    I totally did it.

Cause it’s Spring Break, and I feel like I’m the only adult at work.

Thanks for curing ten minutes of boredom!

  7. Could you do my run for me too? I’m about 3 years overdue.

    Great meme!

  8. Sarah says:

I did it over at my blog. Nice distraction.

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
