Does the Backyardigans theme song count?
Category: About Me | 20 Comments »

I got tagged again for a meme and I have no idea how to deal with this one. I’m supposed to do something about Seven Songs I’m Listening To At The Moment. As someone who used to pride herself on her diverse music collection, I now spend all of my time listening to Top 40 radio and couldn’t tell you when the last time I bought a CD was. My musical tastes have deteriorated over the years. Along with my ass. I’m almost embarrassed to try to do this meme because it will show how musically lame I’ve truly become. But – here it goes. I am not adding commentary because that will totally make me look even more lame as it would all be like: “I luv this song! It rox!”

  1. “Cupid’s Chokehold” – Gym Class Heroes
  2. “Candyman” – Christina Aguilera
  3. “Irreplaceable” – Beyonce
  4. “My Love” – Justin Timberlake
  5. “Runaway Love ” – Mary J. Blige and Ludacris

Okay. This is hurting my head. I can’t even think of any more songs I like right now. I am so ashamed of my lack of musical taste. But not as ashamed as I am of my apathy. I just don’t care that I’m so lame.

So – what are your top songs right now?

Did you actually read my top 7? Only one or two have ever played on a radio EVER. Well, radio that isn’t PBS. How sad is that????? Thanks for playing along though!

  2. Randi Says:

Sadly, I have Fergie’s Glamorous Life stuck in my head.

    I.Hate.Fergie.

Yet I will now know, without a doubt, how to spell glamorous for the rest of my life.

  3. Ida Says:

The Backyardigans theme song totally counts as well as all of the songs from the Surfs Up episode.

  4. Rachael Says:

To the left, to the left…

“Candyman” is cool, but it’s actually a pretty Dirrty song. Heh. Heheheh. See what I did there? *gigglesnort*

But dear GOD, that last one grates on my nerves SOFA KING BAD that it actually induces road rage when I’m not even the one driving.

  5. Miss W Says:

I’m sad to say that I’m diggin the Gwen Stefani song “The Sweet Escape.”

My musical taste have evolved from alternative (and the more alternative that never played on “alternative” radio) to now mostly country and top 40…and kids’ music.

I try to justify some of it by saying that I like the more singer/songwriter style…the Tori Amos vibe of just a voice and a piano…But then there’s that Gwen Stefani and Gym Class Heroes…

  6. Mary Jo Says:

I totally do the whole top 10 thing… I can’t help it. It’s the music that makes my heart happy!

What Goes Around… – Justin Timberlake
    Girlfriend – Avril Lavigne
It’s Not Over – Chris Daughtry
    Glamorous – Fergie feat Ludacris
Cupids Chokehold – Gym Class Heroes
I Wanna Love You (CLEAN) – Akon feat Snoop
    Candyman – Christina Aguilera

Meanwhile the dirty version of that Akon song? Yeah, gives it a whole new meaning and SCARES me. Whew.

  7. Jenny H. Says:

Don’t feel bad, I did it too at my old blog:
    http:www.projectmoose.vox.com

While doing the open thread over at Mamapop last week Joy from Gingajoy mentioned that she had been tagged to do it. Since I LOVE meme’s I asked if I could do it too and it has evolved from there!

My songs were a little lame because I have been listening to a c.d. I made forevah ago. I am also listening to a lot of Top 40. It is weird, isn’t it? Did my super-cool musical taste forsake me after the birth of my children?

  8. Sarah Says:

My tastes varies so much. But most recently J. Timberlake makes me happy. Oh, and I have been listening to a lot of Allman Brothers lately. Can’t really explain that one.

  9. Heather Says:

I don’t even like “Inescapable” but it’s just so dang catchy that now I’ve got “to the left, to the left…” stuck in my head and if i didn’t like you so much I’d prettymuch hate you. You get off easy this time though ;-)

  10. Kyla Says:

This meme has made the rounds, and sadly, yours is the only one with songs I can identify on it. *lol* We’re in the same boat.

  11. courtney Says:

    i played! :)

    http://courtney903.blogspot.com/2007/03/seven-songs.html

you and i had opposite problems. i couldn’t pick JUST seven. i made a list of honorable mentions as well. and there were more of them than made the actual list…

  12. Cara Says:

Everything by Jack Johnson – starting with Better Together and Banana Pancakes is playing constantly on my IPod. Edwin McCain used to be my first and is still a close second. And may very well come in first again after I have had a few more months of Jack.

  13. stacey Says:

okay…i am gonna do this because i can’t think of anything else to blog about….besides pain and that is even boring me!

  14. Lori Says:

Oooh, I love that Beyonce song. And I love Justin Timberlake, especially “What Goes Around.” And I am right now downloading the Amy Winehouse album because I can’t get “Rehab” out of my head.

  15. kimblahg Says:

“In the place where we belong, though we’ll probably sing a song…”

I’m stuck on Amy Winhouse right now.

  16. Floyd Says:

My sister gets so angry with me when Irreplaceable comes on. I tend to turn it up way loud and do my best Beyonce impression….and let me tell you, I got NO business doing any Beyonce impression.

  17. jomama Says:

Amy Winehouse “You know I’m no good”, “Rehab” and “Tears Dry”

Lily Allen “Absolutely Nothing”, “LDN” and “Smile”

    Lupe Fiasco “Daydream”

And for the record, the Backyardigans are awesome.

  18. carrisablog Says:

    I did this meme yesterday.

    http://carrisablog.com/blog1/?p=679

And I haven’t heard any of the 5 that you listed.

  19. Tiffani Says:

    Grace Kelly–Mika
    What I Want–Daughtry
Miss You Much–Janet Jackson (yeah, I just got the CD.)
    Hallelujah–Jeff Buckley
    Read My Mind–The Killers
    Say It Isn’t So–The Outfield
Rock Around the Clock–Bill Haley and The Comets

    :-)

  20. Jem Says:

I don’t really listen to pop much, but I have to say I really like Irreplaceable and sing (what I know of it) to myself all the time.

I just listen to 80s glam rock most of the time though!
