Tomorrow is the 24 Hours of flickr event. I’m looking forward to this because I’m sending the last of the sick kids off for the weekend. Actually - he is much better, so he’s going to spend the weekend with his Dad. I have learned a valuable lesson with this stomach bug. The bigger the kid? The better they are at caring for themselves. Which is a good thing. But also? The bigger the mess they make. And that’s all I’ll say about that.

So - LilZ is going off to his Dad’s for a relaxing weekend taking advantage of his Nana’s HUGE garden tub. I’m going to take the opportunity to get out of the DAMN HOUSE for the day. If the weather holds out, we’ll head to my favorite outdoor spot: the Botanical Gardens. This will be an awesome outing for a day that flickr commands us to document. (And I do everything flickr tells me to.) If the weather does not hold out, we’ll head to my favorite indoor spot: My bed. And I’ll nap all day. And I’ll make MrZ photograph me in my sleep.

Here’s hoping for sunshine.

Regardless - I’m going to document the day. I have always wanted to do this type of project, and there are several groups on flickr built around the “Day in the Life Of” concept - but I’ve never had the motivation. Now I do! Now I can take my fancy camera and show you exactly how true the current tagline of my blog is: “This level of boring can only be achieved by a true professional.”

If you decide to do the same, let me know. They only want one photo from the day submitted to the group, but I’m going to add all of my photos to a set. If you do the same, leave a link so I can see what a day in YOUR life looks like. If nothing else, this task forces you to look for beauty around you: every second of the day. You’ll be surprised where you’ll find it. It may be something as mundane as your favorite coffee cup or the bottle of hand lotion next to your sink. It may be something inspirational like the face of a loved one or a marvelous work of nature. Whatever it is - you should share it. I’m going to.

I just joined the group today. I’ve been trying to get myself to start taking more photos and I think this might do the trick. Here’s my Flickr account, if you wanna see: http://flickr.com/photos/averagejane

Is it not enough that I signed up for a half marathon in October because of you? You’re SO demanding.

I may do this tomorrow, I feel like I’m coming down with a little something, so if I feel okay, I’ll do it.

Tomorrow happens to be my birthday, which I may document up to a point, but I don’t think the intimate moments between me and Jose Quervo are fit for the whole internet!

And so glad your babies are better! I’ll drink to you avoiding the evil stomach bug!

Sounds like fun! Tomorrow is Fun Day in my little itty bitty town, so I will actually have a lot to take pictures of…I love flickr and have been trying to find time to take more pictures. I tried 365days a few months back, but I only made it to day 50 something since I’m a bit of a procrastinator. But I think I can handle one day…

Glad everyone is feeling better- now don’t you get sick!

I’m doing it, too. I heard about it somewhere else (Mighty Girl, maybe?).

As it turns out, Ill be doing the MS Walk that day with my 16 year old daughter (this is the 10th year I’ve done it–yay!). But sadly, it’s only a 3-mile this time. In the past they’ve had a 6-mile and even long ago a 9-mile. You really felt like you were doingsomething, you know? But it’s really all about the money, and most years I don’t even raise enough for the T-shirt (heck, I have too many T-shirts anyway). So MS Walk pictures? check.

Then there will be cinco de Mayo celebrations around town, I’m sure. And a birthday dinner for a friend at a Tex-Mex restaurant. And then a Carrie Newcomer concert at a local funky college hangout bar called “Avogadro’s Number.” Might not be able to take pictures there, but it should be a good day.

    Let’s see, I have a flickr account, but haven’t used it much… (checks settings…) Is it http://www.flickr.com/photos/26111928@N00/

You can also go to http://www.tabblo.com and search for “PHS Wrestling” to see other photos Ive taken (organized into albums called tabblos). I started out posting pictures there of the wrestling team, so that’s why it’s my username.

Hmmm, I am intrigued as I am a very novice Flickr-er. I know you always say how much you love love love it, but I am a little slow. Perhaps I will participate just for fun and for the love of Flickr.

Your pictures are beautiful. I was low on camera batteries and don’t post pics of family members’ faces, so my public submissions are few. But, here they are: http://www.flickr.com/photos/flyonthewall78/sets/72157600184096542/show/
