Okay - so I have a few domestic questions for you so that I can see where my habits rank amongst the typical behavior. As in Am I Lazier than Normal?
- Do you clean your counters with a sponge or paper towel?
- Do you re-use towels after you shower or get a clean one every time? How long do you re-use them before getting a clean one out?
- Do you do all of your grocery shopping for the week at once or do you make several medium-sized trips?
- How often do you clean your bathtub?
- How often do you clean your coffee-maker?
- If you bake something like biscuits on a cookie-sheet, but put aluminum foil under it, do you then wash the cookie sheet?
- Do you clean your blinds?
There are hundreds more I’m curious about - but this will give me a good feel for your habits as compared to mine. No - I’m not giving you MY answers until I see YOURS. And then I will probably lie.

1. sponge
2. yes - probably 4-6 times per towel
3. 1-2 medium size trips
4. never. But lately I’ve been considering spraying that bleach/shower spray along the edge that collects mold
5. I don’t drink it but I clean my teapot maybe twice a year
6. hell to the no
7. hell to the no
(I suspect you’ve met your match!)
1. Do you clean your counters with a sponge or paper towel? WHATEVER I GRAB FIRST.
2. Do you re-use towels after you shower or get a clean one every time? How long do you re-use them before getting a clean one out? YEP, WE RE-USE THEM, USUALLY A COUPLE OF TIMES.
3. Do you do all of your grocery shopping for the week at once or do you make several medium-sized trips? I TRY TO GET IT ALL DONE AT ONE TIME, BECAUSE I HATE WASTING TIME AT THE GROCERY STORE.
4. How often do you clean your bathtub? PROBABLY ONCE EVERY 2 WEEKS.
5. How often do you clean your coffee-maker? I DON’T DRINK COFFEE ON A USUAL BASIS.
6. If you bake something like biscuits on a cookie-sheet, but put aluminum foil under it, do you then wash the cookie sheet? ONLY IF IT SOMEHOW GOT DIRTY!
7. Do you clean your blinds? I NEVER DO… IT’S LOW ON MY LIST OF PRIORITIES, BUT WHEN WE HAVE A MAID COME, SHE DOES IT.
1) Chlorox wipes, but if it’s been a few days and something is dried on, a little Comet and a sponge
2) I reuse a towel unless the dog has gotten it down and rolled on it. I figure I’m clean, so if I use the towel after a shower, it’s clean. I use it for 5 days, usually. Maybe that’s gross? My MIL is apalled by this.
3) I try to make one big trip but I always forget something.
4) Not often enough.
5) I don’t even know where our coffee maker IS.
6) I don’t put anything on cookie sheets, but I probably wouldn’t wash it if it had foil on it. Probably gross.
7) No, I’ve never even considered it. Again, probably gross. Oh well.
1. It depends on what is on it.
2. I use a fresh towel each time I shower. My husband will use his 2-4 before putting it in the laundry.
3. I try to do it all at once, but usually end up going back 1-2 because I change my mind about what I want to eat.
4. Same as Kelly, once every two weeks or so.
5. I’m lazy so I drink instant so I don’t have to clean a coffee maker and a mug
6. Ditto. I will only wash it if something seeped through.
7. No, the dust does not like to be disturbed.
No need to lie. I’m VERY lazy domestically.
1. Clorox wipes, or paper towels and a cleaner if necessary.
2. I reuse towels about 3 times (so usually use 2 towels a week).
3. I try to do all of the shopping in one trip, but I usually need to go back.
4. Probably once every 2 weeks.
5. I run my coffeemaker through the dishwasher once a week, but I never do that monthly vinegar thing you’re supposed to.
6. I bake directly on the sheet, mainly because it never occurred to me to put aluminum foil underneath. It doesn’t stick when you do that?
7. I clean my blinds about once a year - usually I will notice that they are really dusty & filthy. I can get them all done in one day, usually.
It should be kept in mind that I have no kids, so this will likely change a lot once I do.
1. Sponge
2. As long as it is dry and doesn’t smell, I re-use a towel. (I HATE smelly damp towels)
3. I do my grocery shopping all in one day - because I drag the hubby and kids along to keep me company - I send the older one (and the hubby) off on “treasure hunts” so that they can help me while not annoying me LOL.
4. You’re supposed to clean your bathtub? You’d think, with the fact that people are getting CLEAN in a bathtub, that it would stay clean! Probably once a month…maybe…umm…yeah, once a month
5. I clean the pot once every two weeks or so - whenever I notice it starting to get grungy. I HATE grungy coffee pots.
6. Umm..no?! Why would you clean the baking sheet when it didn’t get dirty? Although I’m so lazy that I usually don’t put aluminum foil under it in the FIRST place! Then I just shove the baking sheet into the dish washer.
7. I don’t have blinds, but let me just say that I’ve lived in my house for 5 years and have not ONCE washed my curtains!!!
1. Sponge once a week, the rest paper towels.
2. I reuse towels for the week, more because I’m lazy and don’t have that many towels.
3. Once a week (notice a pattern), but I always seem to have to go back at least once because I forgot something.
4. No clue on timeline, but really, I need to do it more often.
5. Maybe once every couple of months, only if I start noticing a really weird taste.
6. If I’m using aluminum foil, nope, I don’t wash it.
7. Ha! Um, no.
Love this post!!!
1. “METHOD” wipes.
2. Reuse towels. I know, i think it’s gross, but i don’t have the time or energy to wash them every time.
3. usually one big delivery (we have them delivered) but maybe 1 or 2 small trips
4. when the cleaning lady does it (every 2 weeks)
5. no coffee-maker
6. no, don’t wash
7. they are scheduled to be done (BY ME) once a month. In 12 months, haven’t managed it even once.
1. Sponge (my husband does a Sunday clean with bleach wipes)
2. Two times (three if I forget to get a new towel before I get in the shower)
3. One big trip and several “oh crap I forgot” trips
4. My husband’s job (I don’t do bathrooms, I mow the lawn, he does the bathrooms) He probably does it once a week.
5. Never
6. No
7. Don’t have blinds but when I did have them, I didn’t clean them.
1. Do you clean your counters with a sponge or paper towel? sponge, but that is only because no one else in my household even does that….it’s narsty in my kitchen right now
2. Do you re-use towels after you shower or get a clean one every time? How long do you re-use them before getting a clean one out? re-use…about a week. Is that bad??
3. Do you do all of your grocery shopping for the week at once or do you make several medium-sized trips? well since it just me I am usually shopping for? I go once a month usually. I stock up for the month and go from there. Sometimes it is every 2 weeks.
4. How often do you clean your bathtub? Not enough. I feel it should be done every week, but if it happens once a month it is a minor miracle.
5. How often do you clean your coffee-maker? after each use.
6. If you bake something like biscuits on a cookie-sheet, but put aluminum foil under it, do you then wash the cookie sheet? nope.
7. Do you clean your blinds? have curtains…and no I don’t clean those either.
1- Whichever is handier!
2- Unless they smell, I we change the towels once a week.
3- We do one large grocery shop on the weekend, because it’s tough to do all the heavy lifting on your own with a baby in tow. But then, I usually pop in for a few more items–like produce–halfway through the week.
4- I’m with Randi here…maybe I clean the tub once a month. Okay. Lie. We moved into our current apartment in February and I scrubbed the tub for the first time at the end of April. (Eeeeew.)
5- I too hate the acidic taste of old grounds, so I probably stick the coffee pot in the dishwasher once a week, and we rinse it out with water after every use.
6- I’m with PP on this one too.
7- Blinds don’t self clean?
Also, congrats on the pregnancy, Zoot! Just think: these household details will become even less important in a few months!
1. Paper towel. We don’t own sponges.
2. Re-use, usually for a week
3. Try to do one trip, always need something else later.
4. I have one of those automatic cleaners; only scrub if company is coming to stay over
5. Only the husband uses the coffee maker; he cleans is daily. If only he would clean the rest of the house.
6. Hell, no. That is the point of the foil. (Oh and someone mentioned sticking above; try reynolds release foil, it is the best!)
7. No.
Do you clean your counters with a sponge or paper towel? Clorex wipes and I go through a big container per week …
Do you re-use towels after you shower or get a clean one every time? We each use ONE towell per week. I wash them on Sundays
How long do you re-use them before getting a clean one out? WEekly
Do you do all of your grocery shopping for the week at once or do you make several medium-sized trips?
All the above. I make One big trip every other week but end up picking up odds and ends. I hate grocery shopping
How often do you clean your bathtub?
Never .. I never use it. But the shower gets done weekly. But we all use the same shower so I don’t have to clean the other ones in the house. Even the baby (2) showers
I’m lazy like that
How often do you clean your coffee-maker? Put the parts in the dishwasher once a week.
If you bake something like biscuits on a cookie-sheet, but put aluminum foil under it, do you then wash the cookie sheet? No .. unless something is spilled.
Do you clean your blinds? Um …. hubby did them a few weeks ago and we have been in the house for almost 4 years ..(OUCH)
1. Normally, Clorox Wipes, because I love their lemon scent. Otherwise, paper towel unless it’s something sticky that requires a sponge.
2. I’m a new-towel-every-shower kind of girl [actually, 2 towels - one for body, one for my full head of hair], but alot of that is due to being very lazy and never hanging the towel up, so it’s a pile of wetness in the floor.
3. We do our grocery shopping every 2 weekends, and try to never go inbetween. I hate grocery shopping almost as bad as I hated Sanjaya’s singing.
4. Everytime time I shower [hey, it gets its fair share of soap, LoL]. But, a good thorough cleaning? Not nearly often enough.
5. Not a big coffee drinker, but we go through a gallon or more of tea a day, and our tea maker gets a rinse out after every use and a good cleaning once a week or so.
6. Not really, since I discovered the awesomeness of Reynolds Release Non-Stick Foil.
7. I’m scared to…there’s some HUGE dust balls there…
1. Paper Towel, only because for me it’s easier.
2. Of course, until I think they have an odor. Probably longer than I should.
3. Lots of small trips.
4. Not very often. (read: never)
5. Again, not very often.
6. Heck NO
7. Also, Heck NO!!
1. Papertowel - more hygienic.
2. I have 2 towels (hair and body) and I wash them about every week or so. I make sure they are carefully hung so that they completely dry out, though. Why wash CLEAN towels?
3. I shop at least 2-3 times a week.
4. About every 2 weeks (either I do it or the cleaning service)
5. Eek. I just bought a new coffee maker and am determined to thoroughly clean the thing out every month (are you talking the vinegar cycle?)
6. I don’t bake. Period. I will proudly be one of those gals bringing storebought goodies to my kids’ functions.
7. Those things need to be cleaned?
1. I use those Clorox disinfecting wipes.
2. I will reuse towels for showering, as long as they’ve had time to dry. Usually I’ll use one about two or three times.
3. I try to do all mine at once, but sometimes end up with several trips.
4. Honestly, not often enough, but I do spray it with that Tilex clean shower stuff after each bath/shower. All you have to do is spray it on and go.
5. Every time I make use it–but that isn’t very often.
6. No
7. Sometimes, but not regularly.
1. I use a dish cloth.
2. I reuse 3-4 times.
3. I hate shopping so I try to do a major trip once every 2 weeks then stop and pick up extras until the next big trip.
4.
4. right now I clean it when they are getting ready to show the house, but normally I would clean it about once a month.
5. Im supposed to clean the coffee maker?
6. Ive been known to not wash it, but I usually get something on it somewhere. Lots of times I just put it in the dishwasher though.
7. No
sorry about the split post…Im a dork!
I will say this first - i have some OCD issues. Dirty HURTS me on the insides. Seriously. My cleaning habits are in NO WAY normal, and i realize this. Now, that said:
1. a clean sponge and that Lysol kitchen disinfectant stuff.
2. i use a clean body towel, but my hair towel gets used three tiems. My husb likes to use his body towel at least twice, three times if I forget to change his out. He really hates that I prefer to wash them daily.
3. we try to do one huge trip twice a month, then suppliment with mid-week trips. It rarley works out that way though, and is typicalyl a huge trip twice a month with 5 or 6 large trips in between. We cannot jsut buy what we need, ever.
4. I scrub it down once a week. My daughter pees in it nightly. (she;’s 9 months old) I rinse it out with the shower head nightly after teh child’s bath (see the whole - she pees int he tub reason)
5. I run some viegar water through it maybe once a month? I never think about it until my coffee starts to taste “stale” all the time.
6. depends, really. if stuff got ont eh sheet I will, but if it is clean and there is no sticky residue left over, it goes back in the cupboard.
7. I do, but I wish I didn’t have to. the husb and girl have bad dust allergies. the blinds are the biggest dust collectors in the house. I am very lazy about it though - i only swiffer dust them, or use the vacuum attachement and go over them as bexgt as I can. can’t wait to be able to afford nice blinds….
Ok - now I want to read the other comments so I can see if I am really as crazy as the husb thinks I am.
wow - I AM a freak. i kinda wish i could delete my answers now so the internet doesn’t fel sorry for my hubby. Acutally, if I am wishing for things, I wish I weren’t such a freak!
1. i use a disinfectant spray with paper towels…sponges gross me out, they seem like big bacteria factories
2. i re-use my towels for at least a week or two…i don’t know, maybe that’s gross, but i’m a poor college kid, i can’t afford to do a load of towels every couple of days!!
3. i go to the grocery store about 3 times a month…but we eat out a lot around here
4. whenever it starts to look dingy i’ll scrub it…not too often :S
5. N/A because my roommate broke it
6. i’ll usually just take the foil off and put it back, unless food has gotten onto the pan. otherwise…isn’t that the whole point of using foil?!
7. uh…i’ve never done that.
i feel gross compared to everyone else! but, once again, in my defense i AM a poor college student (although i only have 1 semester left to use that excuse)
1. Do you clean your counters with a sponge or paper towel?
I like those Clorox Wipes. Never a sponge. I think sponges are germ filled.
2. Do you re-use towels after you shower or get a clean one every time? How long do you re-use them before getting a clean one out?
About a week.
3. Do you do all of your grocery shopping for the week at once or do you make several medium-sized trips?
One big trip every two weeks.
4. How often do you clean your bathtub?
Hmm… Maybe once a month? Is that horrid? probably.
5. How often do you clean your coffee-maker?
dont drink coffee.
6. If you bake something like biscuits on a cookie-sheet, but put aluminum foil under it, do you then wash the cookie sheet?
why do I never think to use foil? Great idea.
7. Do you clean your blinds?
if I notice they are bad, then yes, but when would I have time to notice?
1. Paper towel and a quick spray of glass cleaner…
2. Definitely. In fact, how often do I change them? Erm… ok, to be honest, when I notice they smell funny *blush*, or when I realise I can’t remember the last time I di.
3. Lots of medium shops, with one bog shop for staples about once a month
4. Oh god… my cleaner does it once a week (I’m feeling very exposed at this point)
5. We’ve only had a coffee maker for about the last 2 months, and we’ve cleaned the sieve bit quite often, but never done the whole insides yet…
6. No. What’s the point in foil if you have to do that? OK, if I noticed it was dirty, I would, but not just for the sake of it…
7. Oh god, people clean their blinds??? Ours are never closed (we have curtains in the bedroom, and live on the thrid floor, so only ever close the bedroom curtains and leave the blinds alone…) - should I be cleaning them anyway?
1. Do you clean your counters with a sponge or paper towel? We usually use a paper towel, but are trying to switch over to washcloths due to the fact they’re reusable. My husband hates sponges for some reason, so we don’t use them very much.
2. Do you re-use towels after you shower or get a clean one every time? How long do you re-use them before getting a clean one out? We reuse, probably for about a week. My husband changes them because I’m an airhead and usually forget.
3. Do you do all of your grocery shopping for the week at once or do you make several medium-sized trips? I make a meal plan/shopping list for the week every Sunday, and we do most of our shopping all at once, unless there’s something that we need to get fresh the day of (like fish).
4. How often do you clean your bathtub? About once a month. Husband does that too.
5. How often do you clean your coffee-maker? We wash it once a week, do the clean it out with vinegar and water thing about once every other month.
6. If you bake something like biscuits on a cookie-sheet, but put aluminum foil under it, do you then wash the cookie sheet? Not wash, but rinse.
7. Do you clean your blinds? My husband dusts them once a month. He’s obsessed with clean blinds, I’m obsessed with clean baseboards.
1. neither–I hand wash all my dishes so I use the dishrag then wash it.
2. reuse about 3 times
3. I do one big shop every two weeks and hit the little grocery near my house 1-2 times during the week for milk, bread, fruit, veggies
4. not near enough–about once a month
5. we don’t drink coffee
6. I use parchment paper when I bake cookies, otherwise I cook on the baking sheet. So I wash it.
7. **blushing when I write this** no, I’ve just gone out and bought new ones when they got so dusty
1. I use a sponge after I wash the pots and pans, my husband likes to use the dishcloth.
2. I use two towels over and over until they either start to smell mildewy or I use them for something other than drying *me* off.
3. In a budget friendly world, we would shop once a week (with coupons!) but we never do. We go to the store at least 3 times a week. More if someone has pop on sale. For two people. It’s lame and sad, I know.
4. Our tub is old and always looks kinda gross but we clean the tub once the rust in the water starts leaving reddish areas on curtain (we wash it in washer) and edges of tub. This is about every 2-3 weeks.
5. We don’t drink coffee so I only wash the dust off it when someone comes over that drinks coffee. Course, the last time was probably in 2005, so I’m ready to move the coffee make into storage. heh
6. Isn’t that the reason you USE aluminum foil on the cookie sheet? So you don’t have to wash it later! I only wash it if something gets under the foil.
7. Well, I just threw the kitchen blinds into the tub in hot water and soap because they were disgusting from a couple years of cooking and smoking in the kitchen. Though I think next time I’ll just pay the $10 and buy new ones.
Remember, though, that I only have two dogs, no kids, and my husband’s tolerance for dirt is way lower than mine so he usually cleans things first.
1. Dish cloth.
2. A clean one every time.
3. All the shopping is done once a week.
4. Rince out daily after my shower, scrub once a week.
5. I only use it once a week, and I rinse it out immediately after. I vinegar it every couple of months or so.
6. I usually put the cookies right on the sheet and put the sheet in the dishwasher afterward.
7. Most of my house is drapes and sheers, and I send those out to the cleaners once a year. I have light filtering cloth shades in the kitchen so I can’t clean those, but I send them out every six months to be cleaned.
1. paper towel.
2. re-use. sometimes for much longer than i should, but usually about a week. although my boyfriend gets a new one every time, so i’m still having to wash butt-loads of towels.
3. we grocery shop whenever we want to eat at home! so several times a week.
4 & 5. you’re supposed to clean these?!?!?
6. nope.
7. i think i’ve cleaned one blind once, but other than that, never.
1. Paper towel. Sponges can get super-dirty and just spread germs
2. Re-use, for a long time. It’s just clean water getting on there, right? I usually wash them with the kitchen towels and bathmats, so maybe once a month?
3. Hmmm, depends on how industrious I am feeling/how busy I am. Sometimes we are so lazy we get our groceries delivered.
4. I have one of those scrubbing bubbles automatic cleaners, so my fiance’s job is to press the button when he gets out of the shower. So I never clean it, and he presses the button once a day.
5. Almost never. I guess I should do that (to my credit, I have the one-cup coffee maker).
6. No. You put aluminum foil on so that you you don’t have to wash it!
7. Never. We live in a rental, so that falls under “Not my problem”
Do you clean your counters with a sponge or paper towel? I use a washcloth but change it to a new one every other day. If I handled meat or something that could cause contamination, I clean my counters with antibacterial pop-up wipes.
Do you re-use towels after you shower or get a clean one every time? How long do you re-use them before getting a clean one out? I wash all our towels once a week. My husband uses a towel twice and then gets a new one. I use the same towel all week long.
Do you do all of your grocery shopping for the week at once or do you make several medium-sized trips? Both because it seems we always forget something on the big trip.
How often do you clean your bathtub? Um…never? No, more like once a month. For sure before company comes over.
How often do you clean your coffee-maker? Once a week with vinager and then run the coffee pot and filter holder through the dishwasher.
If you bake something like biscuits on a cookie-sheet, but put aluminum foil under it, do you then wash the cookie sheet? I don’t put foil on and I do wash.
Do you clean your blinds? I dust them a couple of times a year and have washed the dirty spots once in the last year and a half.
1. It depends on the mess. If it is dry, I use a paper towel. If it is wet or sticky I use the scrubbing part of a hot, wet sponge.
2. Yes. We use them about three days. Since I use two towels (one for my hair, one for my body), I swap which one gets used where until I get a fresh one.
3. I prefer the once a week method, but if I am without a car for long, I may have to swap to a few times for little bits, since I have to walk.
4. Not enough.
5. Everyday, since I use a single serving kind.
6. I use a non-stick sheet and don’t wash it afterwards. You never use soap on non-stick anything. Just hot water and scrape off anything that stuck.
7. I don’t have blinds. But when I did, I didn’t.
Congrats on the pregnancy, Zoot!
1. I hate sponges. I use a dishcloth and about once a week, I wipe everything down with a clorox wipe.
2. I reuse them. I use them for about a week before I wash them.
3. I have no shopping plan. If I go to the store for one thing, it usually turns into a shopping trip. I go about once every two weeks.
4. I rarely take baths, so I have to clean the one in my bedroom every time I use it, which is only a few times a year. I clean the tub my son uses about once a month and I clean my shower about once every few months. I’m due to clean my shower now as a matter of fact.
5. I don’t have a coffee maker.
6. I leave it on the stove and I’ll use it for the next few times I have to bake something. I thought I was the only person that would lay down aluminum foil and then not wash it.
7. I don’t have blinds, but if I did I wouldn’t clean them. I don’t do windows.
1. Paper towel…sponges harbor gross bacteria.
2. I use 2 towels…one for my hair, one for my body. The one for my hairs reused twice. On my hair. Then it goes to the hamper.
3. I make an attempt to get everything in one trip. But I always forget something which leads to several small trips during the week.
4. Every other day. With a Magic Eraser.
5. I don’t own a coffee maker.
6. Nope
7. Hellz no!
1. when I can’t get the jelly off with my nail? brillopad!
2. I air dry
3. Only go if I could not kill enough meat in the Spring to feed the family. Rule#56, always have a full meat fridge!
4. I use it to skin kill from #3, so end of huntin season
5. Never, tastes stronger that way
6. deer muffins taste better on dirty “cookie sheets”
7. blinds are for commies! I use deer fur!
1. Both, sponge to clean, papertowel to dry
2. re-use; when I think of it
3. several trips
4. um…hmmm…whenever it looks like it needs it?
5. n/a (I have a Keurig)
6. yup
7. don’t have blinds!
Ladies and Gentlemen? That’s my brother 2 comments up! He just turned 82 on the 25th - so he’s a little senile. Hence his bizarre rant.
(hee.)
The one for my hairs reused twice=The one for my hair GETS reused twice.
(doofus.)
This is a great idea, Zoot! I’m happy to see that I seem to be fairly consistent with the other commenters:
1. I use a sponge, but I do make sure to get a new sponge frequently.
2. I use my towels (one for hair, one for body) for about a week. I know, I know. My boyfriend would use his until doomsday if I let him, so I figure I am better than he is!
3. I HATE grocery shopping and try to go once every 2 weeks. Sometimes I will go once a week, but never more than that. I figure if we eat produce once every other week that is good enough. The second week we can live on stuff that doesn’t go bad as quickly!
4. I hate scrubbing the tub, but I can’t stand a dirty bathroom. See the problem here? So I discovered that if I spray Soft Scrub all around the tub/shower, let it sit for a few minutes, and then turn on the shower, it works good enough for me. And no scrubbing required!
5. I usually wait until I am at work to get my coffee, so the pot at home does not see frequent use.
6. That’s the whole point of the foil. Who would wash it??
7. We don’t have blinds now, but when we did I don’t remember ever cleaning them.
1. Do you clean your counters with a sponge or paper towel? Both
Do you re-use towels after you shower or get a clean one every time? How long do you re-use them before getting a clean one out? I wash towels on the weekend. that’s when we switch to new ones.
Do you do all of your grocery shopping for the week at once or do you make several medium-sized trips? Even if I tried to do one big trip, I’d forget something. So several medium sized is the way it usually goes.
How often do you clean your bathtub? As infrequently as I can get away with cleaning it.
How often do you clean your coffee-maker? that’s my husband’s job. I don’t drink coffee, so I shouldn’t have to clean it!
If you bake something like biscuits on a cookie-sheet, but put aluminum foil under it, do you then wash the cookie sheet? Hell, no.
Do you clean your blinds? Every once in a while I’ll dust the blinds. Maybe twice per year.
1. whatever dish rag is within arms reach
2. same towel is used for the work week (laundry is done on weekends)
3. grocery shop every 2-3 weeks
4. 2-3 times per year
5. Starbucks
6. no
7. only if desperate
1. Paper towel and Mr. Clean spray. We have a gazillion cats that like to walk on the counters. They need to be disenfected hourly.
2. Re-use…for about a week. You’re clean when you get out of the shower so its not like the towels are getting dirty from drying clean water off of you.
3. We are constantly running to the grocery store. I would *like* to be able to go once a week but that’s never going to happen.
4. I clean the tub every other week. Should do it more often. One of the dogs likes to sleep in the tub and she makes a mess.
5. Never-I dont drink coffee, its my husbands coffee maker, he can clean it if he wants. I have no idea if he ever does.
6. I don’t put aluminum foil on my cookie sheets.
7. Not often…just once or twice a year.
1, Do you clean your counters with a sponge or paper towel?
Sponge and anti-bac spray, I’m paranoid about food poisoning and bacteria.
2, Do you re-use towels after you shower or get a clean one every time? How long do you re-use them before getting a clean one out?
Re-use for about a week.
3, Do you do all of your grocery shopping for the week at once or do you make several medium-sized trips?
We go once a week and get everything we need. The less time I have to spend in the supermarket, the better!
4, How often do you clean your bathtub?
I’d like to say once a week, but sometimes it might be a couple of days longer than that… We never take baths though, only shower so that’s my (poor) excuse!
4, How often do you clean your coffee-maker?
We threw out our coffee maker a few months ago and only use a cafetier (sp?) or coffee press like some people call them. Much easier.
5, If you bake something like biscuits on a cookie-sheet, but put aluminum foil under it, do you then wash the cookie sheet?
I use baking sheets on the baking tray, no need for aluminum foil, imop.
6, Do you clean your blinds?
Nope, we have roller blinds on our bedroom windows, much easier and no need to to clean.
I love that you think the rest of us are “normal”!
1. Do you clean your counters with a sponge or paper towel?
Either. My countertops are black & tan granite & show nothing, so half of the time, I forget to clean them at all.
2. Do you re-use towels after you shower or get a clean one every time? How long do you re-use them before getting a clean one out?
Re-use. Maybe 3 or 4 times?
3. Do you do all of your grocery shopping for the week at once or do you make several medium-sized trips?
All at once, although I usually go to a farmer’s market or specialty market every other week also.
4. How often do you clean your bathtub?
Oh, this is embarrassing. My bathtub is light grey & (like the countertops) never looks dirty. So it never occurs to me to clean it. We’ve lived here for 2.5 months & I think I’ve cleaned it 2 times. Ew. By the way, by “clean”, I mean that I sprayed it with Scrubbing Bubbles & walked away. The shower is ceramic tile & I normally clean that every 10 days or so.
5. How often do you clean your coffee-maker?
I don’t drink coffee. Don’t hate me! Coffee makes me crazy.
6. If you bake something like biscuits on a cookie-sheet, but put aluminum foil under it, do you then wash the cookie sheet?
Seriously? Of course not.
7. Do you clean your blinds?
Yes. See, I’m not a complete slob!
1. Paper towels, for the small stuff. Every so often I break out the scrubbing cloth and scrub down the grunge.
2. We re-use our towels (in fact, we even share towels). I pull all of the towels and run a load on laundry day (Friday) and put them back up. I don’t think my husband thinks I’ve washed the towels in a year — why am I ok with that?
3. Grocery shopping? Ok, I freely admit that given my choice I’d go as little as possible — but I’m highly forgetful and fickle. Thus, I end up going once a week, and making do with the fact I forgot to buy enough food to make any real meals. (Fortunately for my son, we have a milkman out here in the boonies.)
4. The bathrooms are my husband’s job. That said, I have no idea when the last time he really cleaned them was. I have been known to clean my son’s bathroom while he’s in the tub — does that count?
5. I have one of those thermal coffee pots that you can’t put in the dishwasher. So, I empty it every day and don’t bother cleaning it. Every so often I ask my husband to make a pot of coffee (which I SWEAR he screws up on purpose) and he’ll attempt to wash it, but then cusses and gives up.
6. Under normal circumstance, I don’t use foil (though I’m thinking maybe I should. But, the few times I have used foil, I’ve washed the cookie sheet anyway. I have no idea why.
7. Blinds aren’t self cleaning? WHAT? Could that be why everyone in my house is having an allergy attack?
1. Sponge
2. I use my towels at least twice
3. Ahh, in a perfect I would only shop once a week. But we ALL know that doesn’t happen much. So it ends up being 2-3 times a week…what a waste of time!
4. Let’s see. I’ve lived in this house for 2 years..and I think I’ve washed it 3 times… yeah. gross. but in my defense I don’t take baths, and my son was washed in the sink for the first 6 months of his life…I guess it’s still gross. whatever.
5. As much as I enjoy a good cup of coffee, I don’t make it at home much. I can’t bring myself to make a whole pot for just myself. So it gets washed before I have company and after they leave.
6. WHat’s the point of putting foil down if you’re still going to wash the cookie sheet?? So no.
7. I don’t have blinds, but I’m pretty confident that if I DID have them, I wouldn’t wash ‘em unless I have to.
1. Do you clean your counters with a sponge or paper towel? With the cloth from cleaning the dishes
2. Do you re-use towels after you shower or get a clean one every time? How long do you re-use them before getting a clean one out? We reuse towels, and will usually use them for about a week before replacing them. Getting a new towel for every shower would increase my laundry load by a million
3. Do you do all of your grocery shopping for the week at once or do you make several medium-sized trips? We try to only go once a week, unless we run out of something important (like milk or ice cream)
4. How often do you clean your bathtub? Depends on how dirty it is. As little as once a month, or as often as once a week. These days? I can’t bend over to get in there, so my husband does it when I ask
5. How often do you clean your coffee-maker? Ummm… I don’t use it very often, so rarely. When I was using it a lot, probably about once a month
6. If you bake something like biscuits on a cookie-sheet, but put aluminum foil under it, do you then wash the cookie sheet? I don’t know… I don’t do the dishes, Husband does. So, sometimes yes, sometimes no
7. Do you clean your blinds? Once a year, we’ll vacuum them all down, and that’s about it
At first I thought I would be the only one with my answers, but now I don’t feel so bad!
1. Depends on what is closer
2. reuse all week…Laundry is donw on Sundays
3. once a week, and if we run out oh well, grocery shopping is on the weekends
4. doesn’t it get cleaned when you shower???
5. We just got one for our wedding shower in March and it has yet to be cleaned
6. No
7. NO

2. Re-use…a few times, before it somehow ends up on the floor
3. We try for 1 grocery shop, but usually end up with 2 smaller ones
4. Always right before a bath…but other than that not nearly as frequently as I should.
5. You are supposed to clean the coffee maker? I clean the pot and the permanent filters, but not the maker. Oops.
6. If I use foil, I don’t wash the sheet.
7. Basically never. But occassionally I’ll run a duster over them if I feel like an over achiever. This is rare. Very rare.
Oops, I meant to delete the questions before I posted.
1. I clean my counters (and dishes) with a sponge. Sometimes I even remember to microwave it to kill the germs.
2. We reuse towels for a week or so.
3. I grocery shop pretty much every time I plan to make something. Occasionally I can manage to get the stuff for two days in a row, but I seldom plan beyond that.
4. Our shower gets cleaned every other week when the cleaning lady comes. If it were up to me, I’d probably clean it quarterly.
5. I clean the coffee maker’s carafe about every third pot, but I don’t think I’ve ever cleaned out the entire unit.
6. If nothing touches a cookie sheet during the baking process, it’s still clean as far as I’m concerned.
7. I clean my blinds occasionally, but only if they’re looking really, really dusty.

If you bake something like biscuits on a cookie-sheet, but put aluminum foil under it, do you then wash the cookie sheet? only if it is dirty
Do you clean your blinds? you are supposed to clean your blinds??????
1. paper towels
2. We always hang them up and then reuse them until I think about washing them, which is usually when my hubby’s towel starts to look a little yucky. I still haven’t figured out how his towel can get gross when he’s using it AFTER a bath, but whatever. Growing up, it was always a new towel each time, but my hubby taught me the reuse the towel method…lol!
3. All at once, although once in awhile I forget something and have to get hubby to stop on the way home from work.
4. You’re supposed to clean the bathtub?
5. don’t have one
6. Well, how about this one - if I need to use a cookie sheet and it’s already been used and there isn’t a clean one, I put aluminum foil on it and use it again…lol!
7. don’t have blinds
1. A cloth (I couldn’t stand to waste paper towels), which gets rinsed and reused for a long time.
2. Does anybody really wash their towels after every shower? Think of the planet/electricity bill/effort! I wash ours every week or so.
3. We live across from a supermarket so we tend not to be organised and nip in more often than I would like.
4. We have a crappy old, badly fitted shower cubicle which grows mildew depressingly soon after cleaning, so not very often. I take the view that it is cleaned to some extent every time we take a shower!
5. Don’t have one, sigh.
6. Probably not.
7. Don’t have any, but do have louvred doors which catch the dust in the same way - I clean them if I notice them looking really bad and it annoys me.
There are better things to do in life than clean!
1. Do you clean your counters with a sponge or paper towel? A Cloth and dishwater, right after doing all the dishes
2. Do you re-use towels after you shower or get a clean one every time? re-use How long do you re-use them before getting a clean one out? about a week
3. Do you do all of your grocery shopping for the week at once or do you make several medium-sized trips? I get one grocery delivery a week, and make about 2 supplementary trips to the store
4. How often do you clean your bathtub? Uh… probably every 2-3 months… but I use shower spray every day
5. How often do you clean your coffee-maker? probably every 6-8 weeks - whenever I notice it’s super gnarly and have the time to do something about it
6. If you bake something like biscuits on a cookie-sheet, but put aluminum foil under it, do you then wash the cookie sheet? I use stoneware, which isn’t supposed to be washed. Just scrape off the crumbs and put it away for next time
7. Do you clean your blinds? No, but considering the layers of grime, I really REALLY should…
1. I use cloth and soap or anitbacterial cleaner. I also use clorox wipes often.
2. I reuse. I’m not sure how long, a couple days or so?
3. I meal plan, make a list, and grocery shop about every 2 weeks. Rarely do I make in between trips. We buy milk from a local farm store that is near the house and it is a weekly (more or less) purchase.
4. I shower spray the tub daily and clean it 2 or 3 times per month. About every 10 days probably.
5. I clean it everytime I use it.
6. I don’t use foil and I do clean it everytime. I also use stoneware which I scrape and rinse everytime.
7. I clean my blinds, but not as often as I should or as well as I should.
Don’t compare to me….I’m a freak of nature and I know it!
1. Paper towels, of course. Sponges are gross.
2. I use them for a couple of weeks.
3. One big visit, but many other small visits for the things I forgot I needed.
4. Not often enough. But I do spray that foamy cleaner all over sometimes in the mornings, then just hop in the shower. The water and steam kinda clean it by itself. Or least this is my illusion.
5. Not very often. But I do clean it with vinegar which works great.
6. Hell, no. Why make work for yourself?
7. I would LIKE to clean my blinds but I haven’t figured out a good way to do this.
1. Microfiber cleaning cloth. Usually get a fresh one every few days, depending on how much it’s used.
2. Reused every day for one week.
3. Literally every day.
4. Every other week. (Although I’d like to be able to say once per week!)
5. Not applicable
6. Only if the foil tears and grease gets on the cookie sheet
7. I dust them with the brush attachment thingy on the vacuum once in while, if I think about it.
My question - how often do you clean your ceiling fans?
Wow, you certainly have everyone’s interest with this one … here’s my two cents and my dirty secrets, too.
1. Paper towel. I have been using paper towels with abandon since I left my parents’ house. Mostly because it would make them cringe if they knew.
2. I reuse them twice, but three times if it’s the last towel before I do laundry.
3. Both, depends on the what kind of week I’m having. I always forget key ingredients.
4. Before company comes and when I think it’s too slippery and I might fall down.
5. Rinse daily. Using soap, about once a week or so.
6. Never thought of aluminum foil … heh!
7. Me? No. I’m allergic to dust. The husband does it before his mother comes to visit us. That goes for tops of ceiling fans and baseboards, too.
1. once a day with cleaner and a dishtowel, then the towel goes in the wash.
2. reuse - til it starts to smell, or i realize it’s been in there a looong time.
3. i’d like to do 1 big trip, but there’s not room in the cart with 2 babies, too!! so usually 2 trips a week.
4. not often enough. but there’s no mildew or mold, i hose that sucker down with cleaner on a regualr basis.
5. never? i make coffee maybe 4 times a year
6. foil 80% of the time. usually the cookie sheet goes in the dishwasher if it’s grubby.
7. heh, i have no blinds, only curtains. though my lampshades could use a vaccuuming…
1. Paper towel always. I don’t like sponges. My husband does most of the cleaning, though, and he always uses paper towel.
2. I NEVER re-use body towels after a shower. Hair towels I WILL re-use but only once, maybe twice. I do NOT want to dry my face tomorrow with something I dried my behind with today. (my husband and I “argue” about this all the time.)
3. My husband does most of the grocery shopping. He usually will do a large one-time trip with an occasional stop here and there for something he forgot or that we run out of.
4. I shouldn’t admit this, but, our tub doesn’t get cleaned that often. I mean, once a month if we are lucky. OR, when it starts to look a little…not clean. I know, ew.
5. We don’t drink coffee, so no coffee maker. But, if we had one, my husband would probably clean it once every couple of weeks or something. Who knows…
6. We rarely cover our cookie sheets with foil, but I know when we do, the sheet still gets washed. It just doesn’t seem right not to for some reason.
7. Now that swiffer dusters have come along, our blinds get dusted way more often than a few years back. We dust them when we think of it. Maybe once a month or so. As for cleaning them , eh, not so much.
Can’t wait to see your answers.
1. I use a dish cloth a day and then toss it in the laundry at night and then start with a fresh one in the am.
2.We reuse or towels at the most twice. Everyone has thier own color. After all arent you drying off a clean body
3. I use a monthly menu and make a big shopping trip once a month. I buy my bread at a bread store and freeze the bread. We just run once a week for milk and it is usually to CVS it has the cheapest milk in town
4. Bathtub gets clean once a week.
5. I run the decanter and the filter thingy threw the dishwasher once a week. I wipe up splashes as they happen.
6. We never cover the sheet so we wash it. I do though use liners for the crock pot and I still wash the crockpot.
7. I only do them as needed.
I look forward to seeing your answers.
1. Sponge or dish rag.
2. Reuse, use each one for about a week.
3. I try to make one trip for the week, but it’s usually a few trips to Costco, grocery store, target, etc.
4. I would like to say I clean my bathtub once a week. Actually it’s about every 2-3 weeks, sometimes a month.
5. Don’t have a coffee maker
6. I only wash the cookie sheet if it needs washing. Usually the foil keeps it clean.
7. I dust the blinds when I dust the room. Every so often.
*disclaimer* I am lazy.
1. Do you clean your counters with a sponge or paper towel? I use a dish rag … it then gets heaped behind the faucet turner-onner-thinger until it gets stiff and then I’ll wash
2. Do you re-use towels after you shower or get a clean one every time? How long do you re-use them before getting a clean one out? I will use a towel for about a week (six or seven showers) before I wash it. I let it dry completely (if it doesn’t dry, I won’t re-use it because I think it smells funny, though) and then I just re-use it. I am CLEAN after I shower!
3. Do you do all of your grocery shopping for the week at once or do you make several medium-sized trips? I hate grocery shopping. I try not to. Seriously. I don’t remember the last time I actually went grocery shopping. I buy in bulk and since it’s just me it lasts forever.
4. How often do you clean your bathtub? Once a week or so. I have to have a clean bathtub before I’ll take a bath.
5. How often do you clean your coffee-maker? I was out the decanter after each time I make coffee. My roommate doesn’t and that drives me crazy since I just bought a new coffee maker and it’s all clear and pretty still!
6. If you bake something like biscuits on a cookie-sheet, but put aluminum foil under it, do you then wash the cookie sheet? I don’t use foil under the sheet, but I wash it no matter what I cook on it.
7. Do you clean your blinds? Nope!
1. Neither - I use a clean washrag and Pine-sol
2. I re-use up to four times.
3. Try to do it in one big trip but end up making several small ones too.
4. Once or twice a week.
5. We don’t drink coffee so my dad only uses it when he visits which is rare.
6. Nope
7. Only after walking up to them and they appear to be a tanish color instead white.
Congrats on the pregnancy. I read your blog daily. I’m embarrassed to admit I check back two or three times a day.

1 Dishcloth, at the end of doing dishes. Paper towels if we get lucky and everything fits in the dishwasher.
2 Re-use towels. Hell, you were just clean, right? Only use them 2 or 3 times though.
3 Several medium-sized trips, plus big trips once a month or so.
4 How often do you clean your bathtub? Huh? I work out every morning and shower at the Y. Tub isn’t my problem. (Once a month minimum though)
5 More often than cleaning the tub. Quick rinse daily, solid cleaning when ever there’s room in the dishwasher.
6 Hell, NO.
7 Every spring we take the blinds down, hang them in the back yard and hose them down.
1. Dishrag…occasionally paper towel.
2. yup, reuse. Umm…until I remember to change them?
3. Several small trips…sometimes consisting of getting enough for whatever is for supper that night..
4. We don’t unless there will be someone visiting who will care.
5. On occasion. It’s probably been clean once or twice in the 6-7 months we’ve had it.
6. No…the foil is so you won’t have to wash it
7. No. The only time I’ve ever cleaned blinds is moving out of a college apartment when it was on the checklist of things we had to do.
1. Do you clean your counters with a sponge or paper towel? - sponge. usually one of those ones with the little scrubby side then wiped clean with the other side

3. Do you do all of your grocery shopping for the week at once or do you make several medium-sized trips? - one big trip, then as things get used up small trips to replace if we need them before the next big trip.
4. How often do you clean your bathtub? - it depends on how dirty it is. when DH is working in the oilfield, daily, because he’s a grunge pile. or if we wash the dog, because she sheds like a mf-er. otherwise once a week.
5. How often do you clean your coffee-maker? - we very rarely use it, so once every couple of months.

7. Do you clean your blinds? - only when they’re totally disgusting or when we’re moving in / out.
1. Do you clean your counters with a sponge or paper towel?
A paper towel and some of that anti-bacterial multi-purpose windex stuff.
2. Do you re-use towels after you shower or get a clean one every time? How long do you re-use them before getting a clean one out?
If I remember to hang the towel up on the rack, then yes, I’ll reuse it. I’ll continue for a couple more times, then switch them out to wash.
3. Do you do all of your grocery shopping for the week at once or do you make several medium-sized trips?
All of it for the week. I don’t wanna come back again any time soon.
4. How often do you clean your bathtub?
I don’t. My automatic shower cleaner does it for me!
5. How often do you clean your coffee-maker?
I rarely ever use it, and even then it’s only to boil water for something instant like hot chocolate or something. I usually through the pot into the dishwasher before I use it for a quick rinse, because of all the dust that’s built up on it.
6. If you bake something like biscuits on a cookie-sheet, but put aluminum foil under it, do you then wash the cookie sheet?
Nope. I let it cool, then slip it back in the drawer.
7. Do you clean your blinds?
Nope.
1. Lysol/Clorox wipes, or if I’m lazy a wet paper towel
2. Reuse the towels, wash them every weekend (you’re clean out of the shower right?!)
3. All for the week, sometimes stretched into closer to two weeks and then we’re really eating scraps!
4. Oh the bathtub, every few months when I’m really starting to notice the build up.
5. Never clean the coffee maker, just rinse it out.
6. The blinds get dusted every so often/closer to once per year.
Great questions - makes me feel super lazy. Oh well.
1. Whichever is closest and easiest.
2. Reuse. Once a week, roughly.
3. One trip for the entire week.
4. When I finally can’t stand it any more. Maybe once every 3 months or so?
5. Never. Just buy a new one.
6. Newp.
7. Only if the dust obstructs my view.
1. Sponge
2. Reuse– probably weekly depending on weather
3. all at once
4. weekly (cleaning lady)
5. Every time I use it (French Press)
6. Use parchment and silpats, I do wash pans for drips.
7. Don’t have any blinds.
1. Do you clean your counters with a sponge or paper towel? Sponge reserved solely for cleaning the counters or antibacterial wipes.
2. Do you re-use towels after you shower or get a clean one every time? How long do you re-use them before getting a clean one out? We probably use each towel 2-3 times before I wash them.
3. Do you do all of your grocery shopping for the week at once or do you make several medium-sized trips? I do grocery shopping twice a month and occasionally might have to run into the store for something I forget.
4. How often do you clean your bathtub? Once a month.
5. How often do you clean your coffee-maker? I put the pieces in the dishwasher once a week and wipe down the rest at the same time.
6. If you bake something like biscuits on a cookie-sheet, but put aluminum foil under it, do you then wash the cookie sheet? It depends. If crumbs have gotten on the cookie sheet I’ll wash it or if it got greasy at all I’ll wash it, otherwise I won’t.
7. Do you clean your blinds? Not much, maybe I’ll swipe them with a swiffer but only when I really notice it.
1. Do you clean your counters with a sponge or paper towel?
I use method nontoxic granite cleaner and a paper towel.
2. Do you re-use towels after you shower or get a clean one every time? How long do you re-use them before getting a clean one out? We reuse them for a week, unless they seem a little less than fresh at some point… its fairly random. Never more than a week though.
3. Do you do all of your grocery shopping for the week at once or do you make several medium-sized trips? I usually actually shop a major shop about once every 3 weeks and then do little runs here and there for milk or bread if we run out.
4. How often do you clean your bathtub? Do I have to answer? hehe. Usually only if company is coming or I want to take a bath.
5. How often do you clean your coffee-maker? Every day. I make coffee, drink coffee, clean coffee maker for next day…
6. If you bake something like biscuits on a cookie-sheet, but put aluminum foil under it, do you then wash the cookie sheet? I don’t do the foil thing, but I’d not wash the sheet if it were covered.
7. Do you clean your blinds? Don’t have any. Hate them. got rid of them immediately upon moving in. I have curtains and sheers that block intruding outside eyes.
1. Usually a sponge or kitchen cloth. But those wipes are very handy for little stuff.
2. I re-use at least once. And sometimes use that towel (after I febreezed) to air-dry some clothing on. CB, however, is a one-timer. The odd thing is that he has 6 towels at his house and I have a ba-zillion. He is also amazing at washing his sheets EVERY WEEK. Me? Probably every two weeks or so. But to my credit, we usually stay at his house.
3. I shop on an as-needed basis, so I’m at the grocery store about 3 times a week. Or 4, if I forgot something on the way in.
4. Unlike my towels/sheets, more than CB. Probably at least once every two weeks or so, and I spray down with the shower/bath cleaner.
5. My coffee maker is still in the box.
6. I use a silpat liner (avoiding the aluminum sticking), which is washed immediately.
7. No.
1. Paper towel unless it is something really big.
2. Re-use to the point of totally gross!
3. Once every two weeks or so..?
4. I have a woman who comes every other week otherwise it would never happen.
5. Never. I don’t drink coffee and my husband gets his at work. Occasionally he’ll make a cup on the weekend and will be totally skeeved out by the moldy grounds that have been in there since the last time.
6. Tin foil.
