I got tagged by Chrispian to do the 7 things meme. BUT - I’ve done a few variations of that the last few weeks and am out of “unusual” things to tell about myself. (Other than my mayonnaise fetish, but we won’t talk about that.) (Hee. Just Kidding.) (Or am I?) Anyway - so I thought I’d make a variation I could complete, because I’m a rebel like that.
7 Things that I’m Uber-Excited About this Summer
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, of course! I’m having a big party for LilZ and some of his friends (and possibly some of mine who may be more obsessed than I am…if you can believe it) and we are going to the midnight celebrations like we have every year before. And then I’m going to read it as slow as possible to savor every last word.
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie release. I think I’m buying my midnight release tickets today (for 7/10) just to be safe. The book was my least favorite, but it’s going to be a kick-mega-ass movie!
- One of my BFFs is coming in town from Seattle with her daughter and I haven’t seen them since September. I’m so excited! I’m hoping to lock her up in my attic (I don’t have a basement) so she can’t leave, but don’t tell her that.
- We’re trying to plan a camping trip for a weekend in July and I’m simply excited about the prospect of it. I haven’t been camping in ages and I miss it. It’s going to be FUN! FUN! FUN! (Until Daddy takes the propane grill away?)
- I’m going to Knoxville this weekend to visit my Mom and Dad. I’m thrilled about that especially because my Dad’s travels have been cut short and I’ll get to hang with him a little longer than we had originally thought. He is in the process of trying to get rid of some of the “stuff” he’s accumulated over the decades in our house and told me, “If you see anything you want while you’re there. TAKE IT.”
- SCHOOL SUPPLY SHOPPING. LilZ had accumulated at least one solid ton of pens/notebooks/pads over the last several years and we finally cleaned it all out and decided this year, we’ll start over. I’m trying to encourage him to get organized, so as soon as he finishes reading his summer reading list, we’re off to Staples! I LOVE SCHOOL SUPPLIES.
- My 32nd birthday. I actually filled out paperwork yesterday that said I’d be over 35 when this baby was born. And it wasn’t really and accident, I did it intentionally because for that moment I thought I was turning 35 this summer. I am so bad with ages, ask my permanently-23-year-old husband. My birthday is July 14th and I’m totally thrilled b/c it is smack-dab in between the HP movie and HP book making it the best birthday week EVER.
What 7 things are you looking forward to this summer? Or do your own variation like, “7 Foods I Like to Put Cheese On” or “7 Recreational Drugs I Did Last Night” - you know, the usual type of stuff.

1. Harry Potter book (going to the midnight release too - will schlep the newborn along and will definitely dress up in my Professor McGonagall costume! How soon in life can you embarrass your kid?)
2 Harry Potter movie (this is dicey when I will get to go - dependent upon when this kid decides to arrive)
3, 4, 5, 6 Giving birth counts for a few item numbers, right? I am most definitely excited about meeting this kid.
7 Spending the rest of the summer hunkering down with my kids while we all recover from the shock of adding a new family member.
While that looks like a pretty Lame-O list, I personally am VERY excited about it.
You always make me chuckle.
hahaha… That was funny!
Zoot, you so kra-zee!!!
Maybe you can do a post about why camping is fun. We camped out last weekend just overnight and by the morning I was over it. That was enough camping to last me the next couple of years.
How do you deal with the heat? I know it’s hot in July where you are.
One thing we found at Walmart was a Coleman overhead light/ceiling fan for the tent. It attaches with a magnet to the tent and suprisingly put out a good breeze. Runs on batteries.
Hmmm…how about “7 Recreational Drugs I Have Done in my Life”? Dude, I’m coming down there to read the book and see the movie with you
You’re cute.
7 Things I Like to Put Cheese On:
1. Pizza
2. Pretzel Rods
3. Ritz Crackers
4. Spaghetti
5. Burritos
6. Nachos
7. MORE CHEESE!!!
1. HP book 2. HP movie 3. HP book 4. HP movie
5. HP book 6. HP movie 7. HP movie & book
Any more questions?
Don’t you love the French fireworks on our birthday?!!?!
How about the 7 recreational drugs I like to put cheese on? Nah…
You will understand my pain - joyful pain, of course - in that my due date is right smack dab in the middle of all the Harry Potter craziness. I have already ordered the book so it will delivered to my house, and am simply hoping and crossing my fingers that I will make it to the movies. I hate to miss all the fun of staying up late and getting the book at midnight, but at least I’m hoping to enjoy the movie to distract me from all the baby expectation!! I will live vicariously through you and LilZ.
