LilZ has had an earache for about a week. After trying homepathic drops (from Target!) for a few days, it wasn’t getting any better. I decided I’d take him to the doctor, even though I’m totally hating on doctors right now. They always have bad news! Bastards!
Anyway - turns out he has a “pretty bad ear infection” and was offered a shot or medicine to take for several days. LilZ opted for the same thing any sane kid would opt for: medicine. Why do they even offer the shot? What kid says, “Yes, please. I’d rather have the shot.” LilZ hates doctors worse than I do, there’s no way he’s opting for needles over liquid medicine that can be flavored any flavor you’d like. (Strawberry!)
He also offered pain medicine in pill or drop form. Since LilZ is still not a big fan of the pill-swallowing, we opted for the drops. LilZ’s ear hurts, but it’s not killing him or anything, so hopefully the drops will suffice. If not - I’m a big fan of the Beat The Kid Over The Head With A Pan So They’ll Stop Thinking About Their Other Pain Method of pain relief.
LilZ: WHAT???!!!

LilZ: So, you’re not really going to hit me on the head with a pan?
Me: Not unless you read over my shoulder again.

My dad always said stuff like “How about I drop a brick on your toe — then you’ll forget about your ear/tooth/headache.” Yeah, I don’t trust him either.

Haha. My dad did that, too. I’ll never forget when I rode my bike into a brick wall (yeah, that was intelligent) and tore all the skin off my knee… my dad sat there and started tugging on this one piece of hair behind my ear, which is excrutiatingly sensitive, because he knew if he did that, I *might* start to forget about the big gaping wound filled with stucco on my knee.
Or maybe it made him feel better so he didn’t have to see his baby girl all torn up like that.

A home cure for earache which I ALWAY use and it really works,heat a teaspoon of crushed garlic in a teaspoon of olive oil,cool and then put a few drops of the oil (now garlic oil) into the sore ear preferably at night (with some cotton wool in the ear to stop it leaking onto his bed).Sound disgusting but Works like a charm honest!Garlic is apparently a natural antiseptic or something.
by the way i am 29 years old not 99 but this old wives tale honestly works,i should know as I always get earache!
