I usually am a little frenzied on Sundays realizing, “Crap! One day left to get it all done!” - but the company I work for offers a day off for your birthday, and since my birthday was Saturday, I get my day off tomorrow! Happy Birthday to me! (Although, I made the mistake of checking my work email this morning…and couldn’t leave some of the support issues unanswered…which is WHY I should NOT be allowed to check my email on the weekends.)
So, Instead of working not stop until NikkiZ wakes up, I spent an hour or so cleaning the kitchen and then I sat on my ass for an hour because I have all day tomorrow! All hail guilt-free ass-sitting time!
Is it just me, or as you get older do you find yourself actually getting EXCITED about completing housework? Am I losing any bit of coolness I’ve ever had? Am I losing my mind? Or am I just really lame? Because, I went to put some boxes out in the garage and saw how clean it looked after yesterday and I got giddy. Like - I was more excited seeing that and remembering our progress than I was about my birthday in general. I AM A LOSER.
But seriously - it takes me ages to motivate myself to clean something, but once it’s clean? It’s like a choir of angels singing every time I see it.
Of course with 2 kids, 3 dogs, 2 cats and one husband - nothing stays clean for more than 3.2 seconds. So the euphoria is short-lived.
A day off for your birthday?! You’re kidding… and you expect us not to hate you?
Congrats on your birthday. And also like big cleaning. I smile every time i put something in my cellar since i cleaned it last week. Unfortunately this doesn’t work with the daily stuff i have to do…
After I vacuum, I have to walk around and gaze at the crumb-free zones. The euphoria is short lived but worth it.

Happy Birthday! I got my apartment clean earlier this week and it felt sooooo good, and relaxing, and exciting. Yes, I too get super excited when the housecleaning is done.

happy birthday one day late! Enjoy your extra day - spend it doing something fun … I find cleaning my bathroom is the only cleaning task that remains fulfilling because I lock the door when I am done and the kids still don’t know where I hide the key!
I let things pile up so anything clean is a cause for celebration.
I’m still riding the high of sweeping out my shop and building some shelves. That was two weeks ago. I wear it like armor during the day - interminable list of requirements? I don’t care, you should see the vacuum system for my chop saw. Haha! Cool points gone.
