I swear to all that is holy that I have died and gone to heaven.

The appliances came in yesterday! I have a working dishwasher! And a fridge…IN MY KITCHEN. Of course, I keep going to the one in the dining room to get stuff as a force of habit. I have evidently gotten very used to this bizarre setup.

But y’all? The fridge MAKES ICE. Did you know that a fridge could do that? And you know what else? It dispenses it in our glass when we ask it! Like a gift from some sort of omnipresent being who lives in my refrigerator. I have never in my entire life had an ice-maker before. I feel that now, I can die happy.

It’s funny, because the fridge was pretty inexpensive as fridges go. We paid about $700 for it but it is 10 cubic feet larger than the one that we had before. This, of course, prompted me to geek-out by photographing the food in fridge number 1 and the the same food in fridge number 2 so that you could get a good feel as to how much extra space we now have. Feel free to check out the flickr goodness while I go wash another load of clean dishes.

(Yes. I said clean dishes. I’ve washed all of the dirty ones but I’m still not done playing!)

I find it interesting that as your appliance problems are going away, mine are starting to happen. I came back from a family reunion only to discover that my fridge had been leaking the entire weekend, and when I ran the dishwasher it leaked water too. It’s been a week, and my apartment’s maintence staff STILL haven’t gotten the problem fixed.

You should totally keep the old refer in the garage…. and use it ONLY as the keeper for beer…… You could keep a pony keg in it… SWEET…… We have a “beer only” fridge at our house and it is fantastic…..

But fridges make ice from tap water. Ew, ew, ew!

I’m jealous! But hey, in our kitchen, we have a floor, and some cabinets now. And walls.

    I live like a queen.

  6. Jezer says:

That looks remarkably like the exact model fridge that we have! And Chrispian, it may be tap water, but it is filtered tap water.

    woot!

when your appliances are done with your things, please could you send them my way?

    and: ICE MAKIN’? faaaansay!

    (congrats!)

  8. I feel so much better now that I know I am not the only one who took before and after pictures of our old and new fridge.

Isn’t ice that is dropped into your cup wonderful? A little slice of heaven… until the kids use it on a hourly basis. Then it is “Will you stop getting ice out of the freaking fridge?!?”

(btw, our fridge was delivered a week and a half ago…)

Woo hoo! Love the new refridgerator.

    The kitchen looks great.

Where in the world did you get that fridge for $700? We just bought a $700 fridge, with ice maker (LOVE!), but it doesn’t have a dispenser for the ice that it makes, and it’s stacked, not side-by-side. Everywhere we looked, all the side-by-side fridges started at $1200.

Gotta love those new appliances, though. Glad you’re having so much fun!

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
