You all made me proud!

Well – I’m back! And no prison tattoos or anything, can you believe it? I spent the entire time there amazing people with my story of my little website where a lot of people gave what they could and all of that brought us to a grand total so far of around $3400! That’s FIVE kids that get to go to camp because of you guys. And some of the kids who go to the camps in June were there and I wish you could have seen how happy they were when I went up and put FIVE pictures on the board, indicating I had raised enough to send FIVE kids to camp. It was all truly awesome. Thank you all for helping.

The funny thing is I ended up writing my check for $127 to make it even, and not 10 minutes later, someone donated $77. I’m glad to see I wasn’t the only one wanting the number to be PRETTY. Thank you all. I’ll keep doing the Blogger Spotlights until everyone gets recognized.

And guess what I had for lunch? Chick-fil-A sandwich and a giant Diet Coke. 4 weeks without meat, fast food, and diet coke were KILLING me. I’ll try to make up for lost time by bathing in Diet Coke for the next four days. My kidneys will thank me.

If you were finally allowed to eat meat and fast food after a month away from such wonderful things (although I did have a few slip ups here or there either forgetting or not wanting to inconvenience someone) what would YOU eat to celebrate the return of such items to your menu?

wow. 5 kids?? that is awesome!! :) :) YAY!!

  3. Stephanie says:

    That is SO awesome!

I don’t eat much fast food, but I’d have to go with a Chipotle burrito or a Wendy’s frosty with french fries.

  4. Sarah says:

So you actually raised $800 more than you needed? Literally at the last minute? Uhm, your blog-readers are pretty damned cool procrastinators! I was smiling as I read this entry thinking about those kids! You done good pestering us.

I’d first go to Wendy’s & get a #1 with only ketchup & mustard, a large diet coke and FRENCH FRIES!
The next day I’d go to Arby’s.
The next day I’d eat all of Taco Bell.

I don’t know that I could go three weeks without fast food. Or meat. Or my drink of choice (which is actually water, but still). Good job for you!

  5. Kyla says:

    HOORAY!!!!! That’s awesome.

I would have eaten EXACTLY what you did, with a diet DP instead of Coke.

  6. Tiffani says:

A Jack’s Big Bacon Cheeseburger and fries. And chocolate ice cream. :-)

    Congrats!

  7. Either a QPC from Mc Donalds, no fries, large coke and a 6 piece chicken nugget

Or a grilled stuffed burrito from Taco Hell

  8. zoot says:

Now I’m hungry again. What If I just hit every drive-thru I could on the way home from work?

  9. Gwen says:

Burger King burger and McDonald’s fries.

  10. elena says:

Congratulations! Hearing you sent 5 kids to camp makes me all teary. GREAT JOB!

  11. Tara says:

I would definitely choose chick-fil-a for fast food and as far as meat goes…a new york strip steak medium rare.

  12. junkie says:

so proud of what you did, girl!

and i would eat exactly the same thing…..except i’d get a chick.fil.a diet lemonade with the diet coke!

  13. Kristabella says:

That is so awesome Zoot! I’m so happy you did it and we all could help!

I think I’d go for a big steak, or an authentic Chicago-style hot dog. Or an Italian beef sandwich. Or sausage pizza.

    Now I’m hungry too!

  14. Bethiclaus says:

McDonalds’ french fries and a Frosty.

  15. Amy says:

A # 6 (spicy chicken) from wendy’s and a big honkin diet coke.

    YUM.

  16. kerrianne says:

I went TWO years without Diet Coke. I’m now officially addicted. Again.

    It’s just so GOOD.

  17. dcfullest says:

Just some assvice, I went a long time without eating meat and then dove into a cheeseburger one day– bad idea. I found out that beef is really hard to digest if you haven’t eaten it in awhile, so eat just a bite or two until your body gets use to eating it again.

    CONGRATS!

  18. I recently went nine days without Diet Coke and told people I knew what I was up to in a very “Ha HA, I’m healthier than YOU because *I* only drink spring water that is hand-filtered by nubile Italian virgins” sort of voice. I felt I was drinking way too much soda, but every time I told someone I had one or two (cans) a day, they snorted at me. I guess I’m not in the big kid addict league. Diet Coke tastes better than self-righteousness anyway.

Oh, and I would get my grub on at McDonald’s, probably. :)

  19. Mary says:

I would drive out to the mall and get a 12-pack of Chick-Fil-A nuggets. And then I would leave the mall and go straight to McDonald’s and get a large fry with BBQ sauce to dip them into (the fries, not the chicken). And I would get a regular Coke from McDonald’s because while it is, in fact, true that they have the BEST Diet Coke, their regular Coke is like the nectar of the Gods. And I don’t drink it because of GD Weight Watchers!

  20. TammyK says:

    YEA!!!!! Zoot you rock!!

  21. Stimey says:

I was a vegetarian for 10 years. The thing that brought me back: oh so delicious take-out fried chicken.

  22. kobri says:

Way to go! That is so awesome for those kids! I would totally have to go with Chicken wings or ribs and a massive gingerale. What is Chick fil-a? We don’t have them here

  23. kobri says:

    Also…did you get first place?

  24. Jenny H. says:

BACON, oinky bacon at that. And, a really icy Dr. Pepper.

    Mmmm.

    Good for you!

  25. Jem says:

Oh, funny you should ask…I’m on the evening of Day 7 of an all juice fast…and in less than 3 hours I am FREE! Although I don’t think I’ll eat til morning, just to make it official.

And here are my 7 choices of meals tomorrow, of which I probably shouldn’t attempt to make them all. What should I choose? I’m not kidding when I say this is the biggest thing on my mind right now. I just spent an hour looking at pictures of pizza.

    1. Vegetarian sushi…with wasabi…after drinking juice I want a damn KICK!
    2. A vegetable pie from Starbucks. In NZ, they have the best ones I’ve ever had
    3. A chilli bean and cheese pie from Piemania, which are gourmet pies
    4. Indian food…namely Vegetable Korma with rice and garlic naan…mmm curry
    5. A saladburger from Burger King. They make them with ONION RINGS!
    6. Gourmet pizza…with all the yum savoury things like olives, sundried tomatoes, capers…
    7. Gourmet pizza stuff, that comes with a pastry top too. And inside they have roasted vegetables and feta.

Clearly, all the toxins I lost during my juice fast need to be replaced!

Anyway…congratulations on your whole arrested thing…I’m just reading the entries now but it sounds really great. Well done!

  26. mdv says:

Congrats! I’m very happy for you.

I would probably want to eat bacon.

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
