Welcome! It is 5:32am here in Huntsville, Alabama and I am officially declaring Miss Zoot a de-lurker. For today. And today only. Tomorrow I go back to the comfort of my feed reader, because I suck.
I won’t be posting much today, if at all, because I want to really try to comment my ass off today. (Comment my ass off? What does that even mean?) But – I wanted to have an entry ready to encourage you to comment your ass off today. Specifically here. My comments section would welcome your ass being commented off.
(I’ve taken that too far, haven’t I?)
But, just in case you aren’t sure what to say, I will give you a topic to discuss: Soup and Bread Bowls. Do you like soup in bread bowls? Do you like all soup in bread bowls or just some? What type of bread? I like ALL soups in sourdough bread bowls. Or bagel bowls. But don’t give me those gross white-bread bowls. Those are nasty. MrZ thinks only red soups and chilis belong in bread bowls, because creamy and clear soups make the break look unappetizing.
So, feel free to pop in and say “Happy De-Lurking Day!” or feel free to let me know how you feel about the soup/bread bowl issue. It’s a hot topic, you know.
(Get it? Hot? Because it’s soup? And soup is hot? Do you get it?)
(Man. Now no one is going to comment. I probably scared everyone away.)

I don’t comment often but read everyday and often check back to see updates. I love reading your blog!
I’m clearly not delurking, but I wanted to say hi, anyway. Re: the hot topic of the day, I say “yes” to bread bowls. And, I’m not picky about it. All soups are all just better in a bread bowl.
I am with you about the sourdough v. white bread bowls. But, I really only like creamy soups or chili in them. Definitely not clear soups, but also not runny reds like tomato. Picky, picky – I know.
Leaving the feed reader to say hi! And to weigh in on the soup bowl issue. I definitely like all soups in soup bowls but I prefer chili and heartier soups. Happy De-lurking Day!
I prefer chili and cream soups in a bread bowl, and have only ever tried sourdough bowls. A bagel bowl sounds good though.
I don’t use a reader to keep up with your blog, but I still wanted to comment and say that I LOVE soup in sourdough bread bowls. I’ve never had any other kind of bread bowl!
I’m swimming againgst the tide here- I don’t like any soup in bread bowls because I don’t want to eat all that bread, and also don’t want to waste all that bread. Kind of ruins it for me : )
“Comment your ass off”… sounds like some new fad diet craze.
Daily reader, minimal commenter! I love bread bowls (the crusty sourdough kind only) – especially from Panera. I love their Broccoli Cheddar soup. I think clear soups would be weird.
Delurking to say that 1) I just recently found your blog and love it and check back often; 2) no bread bowls–just bread on the side. Otherwise the bread gets too soggy–yuck!
I LOVE your blog, and don’t comment often enough… and I’m so excited that you are pregnant!! Hoping it sticks!
I don’t think I’ve EVER seen soup in a bread bowl in New Zealand. I’ve had it twice in the States though. Its so good! It saves someone having to wash dishes! Yay!
I am a feed reader addict. And also feel that I don’t have too much to add in the comments, and that all the cool kids will make fun of me.
I love bread bowls! I prefer a soup with a thick broth rather than say a chicken noodle which just is not good in a bread bowl. Chili is the best. Also…pasta in a bread bowl? AWESOME!
I can’t get into using feed readers. Its so impersonal. I prefer to see everyone’s website, it’s kind of like looking at them while I read what they have to say.
Happy Delurking Day!
I do use Bloglines, but I also feel much more connected to people when I visit their actual sites.
It’s great to see so many people delurking on blogs all over. Hi everyone!
Happy Delurking Day – soup in a sourdough bowl is quite tasty. Congratulations on your happy news.
Only chilli and creamy soups belong in sourdough bowls– everything else is a sin
Google reader killed the commenetr in me I am afraid to say.
Secondly, bread and soup are heaven. Soup *in* bread? Even better. Cream soups, chilli’s and stews OH MY! But if I were to put tomato soup in a bread bowl it would have to be a cheesey bread bowl. That way it’s be like a giant grilled cheese with my tomato soup!
Here is my delurking comment – long time reader, first time commenter. I was at the gym this morning and thought “I wish I could be like zoot and not wash my hair – this takes too long.”
Clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl is to die for. Especially if you get it out on the pier in San Francisco and it is just a tad chilly outside…..
Now I want one.
I love bread bowls, but it is a sad topic for me because they’ve just recently closed down the only place where you can get them here and I *sniff* still am a bit sore about it.
I read all the time, don’t ever comment…because…yeah, I’m a feedreader addict too. But I met you at Blogher though and was very dorkly excited.
Happy De-Lurking Day:)
Not a fan of soup in a bowl, and I’m not sure why?
Delurking to say good morning. My husband is big into the soup in a breadbowl. I am not that big into soup, so then I would rather eat a sandwich.
have fun delurking everyone!
De-lurking to say Hi!
I don’t like soggy bread and hate to see it wasted as a bowl.
De-lurking to say hi as well. I read you all the time! Love your blog!
I enjoy a good sourdough bread bowl, but I’m picky about my soups. UNLIKE MRZ, I think creamy soups go SO WELL in a bread bowl, but so does Chili. I guess it just dpeends on my mood that day. Sadly, the last soup place near me closed last year and now I am forced to eat my soup from a regular boring ceramic bowl.
Happy de-lurking day! Two years ago you inspired me to stop lurking, and I have been a blog commenter ever since! I dont’ even know what “Feed reader” is, andI am PROUD of it! (my husband think I am weird) I’m so out of the loops.
I have to admit that I have seen bread bowls but I’ve never had soup in one. I just love soup. I can’t imagine much could ruin a good bowl of soup. I don’t ask what my bowls are made of. If they hold the soup, they are good enough for me!
Officially de-lurked!
Clam chowder in a breadbowl, that’s all I do, sourdough of course.
hiya, yeah you shamed me into commenting too. Daily reader, one-time blogger, got ‘outed’ to yucky family members, so am now starting up a new site, a more private one. Soon. Really.
\Oh, and the soup? I eat most of the soup and, if I am home, I scrape the soggy bread out of the middle and the eat the bread. If I am in public? I always get full before that stage. Classy.
I have been lurking at a few sites for a couple of years. Yours is by far my favorite – and the one I comment most on (all of 4 or 5 times). I love your voice, your honesty, your humor and your hair!
Also, I love soup, I love bread, but can you believe I’ve never had soup IN a bread bowl? I’ll have to give it a go!
Happy Delurking Day!
I love soup in sourdough bowls, although they need to be thicker. Whether chili or chowder, just as long as it’s thick. The thinner soups make the bread just a little bit too soggy and not fun to eat.
I don’t think I count as a delurker here, but I had to get in on this bread bowl action.
ALL soups are good in bread bowls (provided of course they are soups I like). And I have to agree with you on the ick factor of the white bread bowl. Soup should be served in pumpernickel, sourdough, or whole wheat bread bowls. In that order.
I have never had this bagel bowl of which you speak. Where does one find one of those???? (Please tell me it’s Brueggers since we have those here in NY!)
I’m not a bread bowl person. I like bread just not in bowl form.
De-lurking!
Just a quick detour from my feed reader to say I love your writing. Thank you!
I am a lurker! I read all the time but I am not sure if I have ever left a comment here. Well anyway I love my soup in bread bowls sourdough of course and any type of soup!! See now you are making me want to go to Panera today and I cant!! Hopefully I will come out and comment more often.
Okay, I have left the comfort of my feed reader to de-lurk and say hello. *waving*
As for soup and bread bowls – the bread has to be a crusty bread like sourdough otherwise its like mush and totally gross. I don’t care what color the soup is, just that it’s thick, creamy and delicious.
I’ve never heard of a bagel bowl either but it sounds delish – where do you get it?
They serve soup in bread bowls? I need to get out more!
Zoot, I love you and I will delurk and comment. I like soup in a bread bowl, sourdough sounds wonderful, but I prefer cheesy, creamy soups in them like broccoli or potato.
Also I have to say that NikkZ is, perhaps, the cutest baby girl there is, next to my own,of course. I guess I love seeing her pictures so much because she is close in age to my daughter and I can see that they are a lot alike.
Hi! I don’t think I’ve ever had soup in a bread bowl. I think part of me is afraid the soup will soak right through the bread and make a big mess.
delurking, sort of!
Soup, what a great topic. I prefer bread bowls with thick soup. Soups that are mostly water based don’t go well with bread bowls. I prefer french bread bowls over white bread bowls.
Definitely a lurker, but I read you all the time. Thank you for posting multiple times in a day – it helps with the boredom of work.
As for the topic at hand – I love bread bowls. I’m not too picky about the bread, but I only really like them with creamy soups or chili. Brothy soups make the bread too soggy.
Hi Zoot, I’m a lurker. I have commented more here than anywhere in cyberspace, twice I think. I love your blog! I like to see how you and your son interact, I have 7th graders myself, however I am no where near as cool a mom. My husband and I also have the same first names as you and yours!
Hi Zoot. Bread bowls rock. But do tell more about these bagel bowls! Bagels are my favorite carbohydrate product yet I have never seen such an item.
I read you religiously and think you are crazy for waking up at 5:30am to blog. But I love ya for it!
I do love eating soup out of breadbowls, but I always feel like I have to eat the bowl itself when I’m done, and sometimes that’s just gross. But to not eat it would be wasteful. It’s tricky.
I read your site every day and have done so for years but have only commented a handful of times. Why? No idea. But anyway, I’ve never in my life had soup in a bread bowl. It seems like a waste of food. Do you eat the bowl afterwards? Wouldn’t it be nasty soggy? If I were to eat soup in a bread bowl it would have to be a red or orange thick chili/stew/soup.
happy de-lurkers day!!
zoot…i know u dont comment..but could you pls do me a favor and reply to my mail..i think i’ve sent it about 6 times now and i haven’t heard a peep out of you..so please reply..even if its something bad that you have to say..thanks..
love ur blog by the way but im sure u already know that!
I love bread bowls! But bread in any form is awesome.
I am de-lurking to say that I love your blog and read it regularly.
On the soup & bread bowl issue – I would have to say that I am not a fan of either soup or bread bowls.
de-lurking. i love your blog and read almost everyday, thoughi don’t comment very often. i only eat soup in bread bowls once in a while…and it has to be a sour-dough bread bowl. i have never heard of a bagel bread bowl…hmmm…
I love sour dough bread bowls. With creamy soups in them! I’ve never had a bagel bread bowl, but I agree with you on the white bread bowls… yucky.
I’ve never had soup in a bread bowl. That’s right. Now I feel weird.
I have only ever had chili in a bread bowl. I like the idea of not having to wash dishes, but it is a waste if you don’t eat the bowl and that is a lot of bread! I’m a bit of a fence sitter on this one.
Damn, look at all the delurkers! Not really delurking, but want to give my 2 cents on the breadbowl soup issue…love it. And creamy soups so belong. Sorry Mr.Z.
I love soup in bread bowls. Sounds like a good dinner plan. Except I don’t have time to make bread bowls, and it’s hard to find gourmet bread when you live in the ‘hood. So we’ll just have plain soup.
Breadbowls are awesome.
I have to say I like my soup in a regular bowl, bread on the side. But I have as many food issues as Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally, maybe more, so take that with a grain of salt. On the side. And only if it’s Kosher salt.
I’m De-lurking! I love bread bowls with all kinds of soups. Great Blog!
soup, bread on the side. i hate soggy bread.
Daily reader, sometimes commenter…
I’ve never had soup in a bread bowl, but I’d love to try it. I don’t guess it would matter, as long as it was something I liked… probably chili or a baked potato soup, maybe New England Clam Chowder.
I, too, am addicted to my feed reader. I don’t even remember what most of my friends’ blog pages look like.
I read your entries every day but rarely comment. My bad.
Wow – look at all the comments! Hello – I’m here regularly, but I’m going to be extra sure to comment everywhere I go today.
On the topic – New England clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl, preferably on Fisherman’s whart in San Francisco!
I am a bad, bad blog reader–I only delurk on Official Delurking day. I love your blog. I check it several times a day, and regularly follow your links.
Oh, and congratulations (belated, because again, bad bad blog reader-not-commenter) All the best to you in this one, you are the type of person/mom that deserves lots of kids. Your two are very lucky to have you–can I be like you when i grow up?
magpie
I’ve been trying to comment more, but I guess I’m still considered a lurker. So I’m de-lurking to get in on the ground-breaking bread bowl discussion. I like soup and bread bowls, but not soup IN bread bowls. I like to have the soup in a cup and dip my bread in the soup. Especially cheddar potato soup from McAllister’s Deli with a bread bowl on the side. And sorry, I like the icky white bread bowl. Sourdough? Blech.
Yup. Delurking. I rarely comment … but I’m here everyday !!! LOVE your blog girl !!!!
I linked to your sight because I am joining the de-lurking craze going on.
You are right. Often I read on bloglines and don’t comment. I know, bad me! But here I am commenting and feeling good!!!
I think thick soups, i.e. the creamy ones and chilis, in sourdough bread bowls. Wow that sounds delicious now!
Happy de-lurking day. As I said yesterday, I had forgotten…good thing you reminded me;>
ugggi actually got a bread bowl from spicy pickle last night. i’m not sue what type of bread it was supposed to be but man it was gross. i ended up dunking my fesh baked french bread from the store into my delicious soup. i like french bread bowls!
LOVE soup in bread bowls. I think all kinds are acceptable, but the non-creamy ones tend to make the bread soggier faster.
Any people who live in AZ (or visit) must try the cream of chicken noodle soup in a bread bowl at Dilly’s Deli. Or any of their yummy, yummy soups.
Now I want soup. At 8:30 in the morning.
Im a psuedo lurker… popping up occasionally. I must say I agree for the most part with Mr Z… Red and spicy and thick soups (like chili) are best in a bread bowl. But I also agree with you, white bread bowls? Turn into a soggy mush inside. Shudder.
Congratulations on your pregnancy! Wishing you all the luck in the world and properly increasing numbers….
oh yeah that was me delurking
Happy Delurking Day! I read your site every day and love how you always post a million times.
Re: bread bowls. I feel that the make-up of white bread makes the bowls a little too flimsy for holding soup. I’ve never had a bagel soup bowl but I’m fascinated by the concept.
Happy Delurking Day from one of your biggest, non-commenting fans!
Best soup in a bread-bowl: McAlister’s Cheesy Potato!
Also, it’s been a rough couple weeks for the Tide…has Mr. Z almost given up the will to live?
Always read, don’t comment often enough. I have never had soup in a bread bowl. I feel deprived.
I’am new to this, but have been reading you for a long time.
Your awesome!
I read through the google reader too and should comment more.
Hi. I’ve commented before but not very often so I’m sort of de-lurking, but not really.
Bread bowls, not so much because of all the, you know, soggy bread. But they sure seem to make a lot of other people happy!
De-lurking all over the place today…
Commenting my butt off but still haven’t gone down a size.
Maybe because of all the breadbowls…
I don’t think I’ve ever had soup in a bread bowl! When I eat at St Louis Bread (Panera) I always get a ‘you pick two’ and figure I’ve got enough bread in my sandwich.
Do you eat enough soup so you can then tear off the bread and dip? Or is the bread bowl just serving the purpose of containment?
I think I’ve commented before, but whatever. :>
At any rate, soup in bread bowls: any kind of cream soup, chowder or chili (or maybe I just prefer cream soups). I can’t imagine having say, chicken noodle or beef barley, in a bread bowl.
And only a sourdough bread bowl or french bread bread bowl.
Oh, and this is my first comment of the day, so you’re doubly lucky :>
I’m delurking to say I love all soup in bread bowls. Soup and bread? They just go together. You really can’t go wrong with it.
Happy De-Lurking Day!
I feel like I am delurking every time I comment here…even though I’ve been reading and sometimes commenting for…well, a very long time. I didn’t realize how long it was but…I guess it is.
anyway…soup in a bread bowl…yummmm. I prefer the cream soups actually. If it is a soup kind of day I will get cream of broccoli in a bread bowl at panera.
I guess other soups would be ok. In a sourdough bowl, of course.
Man, now you make me want that…
Lurking everyday….
No love for soup in bread bowls. Soup, yum – - bread, double yum!!
You have two of the greatest kids from what I can tell. I only hope I can do as well with my 10 year old as you are doing with LilZ. Congrats on #3 on the way!
Thank you for stopping by and commenting. That was so cool. I can’t wait to tell my Hubby. You are a cool chick!
Wow, only 9:03 (8:03 your time) and already 84 comments!
Also, I only like thick soups in bread bowls because otherwise they make the bread bowl too soggy too fast. Sourdough or bust.
I’m a feed-reader-reading hardly-ever-commenting reader (reader nonetheless – ha!).
I’m all for sourdough bread bowls with anything but clear soups in them. My fave is clam chowder in sourdough bread… hmmmm!
they make soup in bagel bowls? i have never heard of this, but it sounds delicious. actually, most carb-related products sound good to me…and if you can cmother them in a creamy soup of some kind?
all the better.
HI Zoot! I also read your blog every day, think you have the cutest lil girl ever and your son reminds me of my oldest, with his shaggy hair and cute smile. Good luck on the new one, I hope all goes well. I rarely do the soup/bread bowl thing so I have nothing intelligent to say about that. Thanks for having this blog and making me smile!
Hello, I am a lurker.
I do not like bread bowls. Ever since my aunt-in-law ate her soup and then discovered that the bowl was all moldy, I cannot bring myself to try a bread bowl.
90-ish comments so far… it -is- a hot topic. I like the idea of bread bowls, but, in practice, I prefer a bowl of soup and a piece of bread. I can eat them at the same time that way.
Happy De-lurking Day! Man, if all one had to do, to get rid of a little extra ass, was comment….
No so much with the soup in bread bowls, but I do love me some soup and cannot live without bread!
I suck at commenting too, but love all bread bowls. Incidentally, I just mistyped it as “breast bowls.” Is that cool or lame?
I’m not a total lurker…I throw out a comment here and there.
Soup bowls. My main issue is that if you are going to serve a soup in a bread bowl, it should be made clear up front on the menu. I ordered a bourbon shrimp bisque in a somewhat upscale, expensive restaurant. It came in a bread bowl. I was rather surprised by this. The bread got all mushy and mixed up in my bisque…the bisque had a wimpy flavor to begin with so lumps of soggy white bread didn’t improve it. I think the bread bowl is must better in theory than in practice.
Happy De-Lurking Day!
I am a fan of bread and soup, but for some reason not together. Sign me up for saltines with butter on them instead!
I am not always a fan of the bread bowl. I can never think of a graceful way to eat any of it at the end, plus I have a lingering fear that someday the bottom will fall out and soak me with soup. And then there’s the waste factor that someone else mentioned.
I much prefer a bowl of soup with a hunk of bread on the side. I must be a big wimp.
Soup in a bread bowl always seemed kind of nasty, but then I had some and it was good. But I’m still wary. Maybe it’s because the bread gets kind of soggy and that’s gross. I’ve never tried chili. Heh. Fun things to ponder.
I love soup in bread bowls – I have this pesky no white bread rule…so I’ve been free of bread bowls until recently I went to Panera and they have WHOLE WHEAT BREAD BOWLS. And that’s when I said to self. Self, God is listening. See.
I do not like broth soups in bread bowls though – they get too soggy. My favorite is Cream Free Corn and Potato Chowda (being from the New England area we don’t say er’s) I also enjoy Chili in the bread bowl…while not a soup still warm delicious eat with a spoon fare.
Happy De-Lurking.
Everyday reader, not very often commenter. I don’t do the feed reader thing and just visit your site several times a day. From one fellow pregnant lady to another… Congrats!
Bread Bowls+Chowder of any kind=YUMMY!!!
Ooh… I think you inspired a pregnancy craving for today!
Happy Delurk Day! I’m home, sick (yep, poor, pitiful me) and am thankful that you gave me something to think about. Bread bowls. Love them. My favorite use of them is at a local restaurant, where they put this incredible shrimp & corn chowder in a bread bowl. Nothing like the soggy goodness that remains when you hit bottom. I come from good Mediterranean stock, so I’m a big fan of using bread to dip — the bread bowl is perfect for that reason.
I never thought I’d have such a long comment that said absolutely nothing.
Not a fan of wet bread, but I did enjoy my clam chowder in a sourdough bowl in San Francisco. Can’t think of another time I’ve had a bread bowl.
Holy comments, Batman. I am but a drop in a bucket. All of this to say that bread bowls and I do not get along due to my compulsive inability to let food touch other food. Soup in one bowl, bread on its separate plate. No sog. No worries.
I’ve never had soup in a bread bowl!
It’s 7:30am here, and I’m craving soup in a bread bowl. Damn!
I have to admit, I have never, ever eaten soup in a bread bowl. I’m not sure why, I have nothing in particular against a bread bowl, but it just never happened.
Something to add to my “must do before I die” list. Because, wow, that sounds really good.
Love soup in a bread bowl (crusty bread only, preferably sourdough), but I’ve never tried any broth-y soups, only creamy/thick/chili/stew type. Panera broccoli cheese soup in a bread bowl, with a little bit of salad on the side-mmmmm, delish!
I also like to make a big bread bowl and fill it with spinach dip or dill dip for parties. When all of the bread cubes have been eaten, you cut up the bowl (some of the dip will have soaked into the bread, giving it the extra flavor) and voila! No wasted food, and no bowl to wash!
Yes to soup in sourdough breadbowls. That sounds so yummy right now. I havent had a soup bowl in years probably. People that are silly enough to own two houses at the same time Never Go Out. One day….
I have to seriously be in the right mood to eat soup in a bread bowl. But either creamy or red soups; tomato soup is pushing the limit. And I never actually polish off the bread, mostly just the top part. Otherwise the bread is soggy and yuck. Happy de-lurking day!
The fact that you will be reading about people’s breadbowl preference all day is slightly amusing…but yes. Breadbowls do indeed rock. Only with soups that aren’t thick like veggie or chicken noodle so the bread soaks them up. I tried baked potato once and it just sat there. No soakage.
Happy Delurk!
Commenting to say, I’ve had dips in bread bowls but avoid soups in them. Although, chili in a bread bowl sounds fabulous!
I do actually comment now and then, so I guess that’s not actually de-lurking, but bread bowls and soup huh? I’ve never had soup in a bread bowl, so I’m not really sure how I feel about it. I do like dip in bread bowls though!
I’ve commented once in a blue moon, but I do read every day and enjoy your blog!
I think the bread bowl issue depends on my mood… but if there is going to be a bread bowl, it had BETTER be sourdough.
Happy de-lurker day! I already de-lurked earlier, but I celebrate Christmas a day early, too. There’s a soup place close to my house and, yes, sourdough makes a delicious soup bowl. Anything else gets kind of spongy.
I’m not really a lurker, but I have strong feelings on the subject of bread bowls: I hate them! I once bore the mockery of my co-workers when I sent back an order of soup that had been mistakenly put in a bread bowl.
On the other hand, I enjoy making bread bowls and filling them with dill dip to be eaten with chunks of bread. I guess it’s because nobody ends up eating the dip-sodden bowl afterward.
now i really want soup in a bread bowl
I have a new and unnatural addiction to soup in bread bowls. I don’t think Campbell’s chicken noodle would be awesome in one, but Loaded Potato or Chicken Tortilla or even Vegetable Beef would be great in one.
And I heart your blog.
Happy De LUrking DAY!!! Yvette from CA
yo happy de-lurker day!!! I am a total lurker. And I kind of like those bread bowls, most days. Sometimes I would rather have more soup and no bread bowl. But other than that I like them.
Chili in a bread bowl? Oh hell yeah! Spinach dip in a bread bowl? Double hell yeah! I like thick soups and stews in a bread bowl, but find regular soups are too thin and make the bread soggy. Sourdough is my favorite bread for bread bowls. mmmmm Guess what we are having for dinner now?? Thanks, Zoot!
Hey,
I read your blog DAILY! I started reading before Nikkz was born and you were going through multiple issues. I too was trying to get pregnant and ending up at a fertility office and just 2 months ago gave birth to my daughter. I feel like I had you to go through everything with me. I am so happy to hear you are pregnant again, I was so excited when I read that post, like you are a family member of mine or something. Anyway, thanks for sharing your life with us. We love it
Again- CLEARLY NOT DE-LURKING!
But I do have to agree with you on the whole bead bowl situation. And after 118 comments? I think we can all agree it has officially become one!
Here is mah vote. Only sourdough bread. Because the rest is yucky.
I’m very pro-bread bowl but only for Broccoli Cheddar soup. Don’t know why … I mean if I’m going for a healthy soup like vegetables and broth – you can’t put that in a bread bowl. It just isn’t right. Bread bowl + creamy soup = very yum.
Holy shit you’ve already got 120 comments! Wow!
I’ve honestly never had soup in a bread bowl. But I think it looks pretty.
Long-time reader … hardly ever comment. Sorry – usually at work. I agree with Mr. Z – bread bowls work better for chili and thicker soups/stews. And a I agree with you … has to be sourdough! Yummy – now I’m hungry.
Sort-of delurking…
No bread bowls for soup, ever. The thought of soggy, mushy bread makes me gag. But bread on the side of my bowl of soup, where I can rip a piece, dip, and immediately eat, before it seeps through even a teeny tiny bit? Yum.
Wow, that’s a lot of de-lurkers up there above me!
I’m indifferent to bread bowls, but would prefer them with thick soups only. To broth-y and it makes the soup too soggy. But soup is just about my favorite food (pretty much any kind) so I guess I wouldn’t whine if I was given any kind of soup in any kind of bowl.
I comment rarely, but read daily! Bread bowls rock!
I’ve come out of my feed-reader for YOU.
Bread bowls- sourdough only. Most soups are good in them, except a thin broth like chicken soup. And maybe not a Thai soup because I wouldn’t eat that with bread. But other than that… YUM.
What a great idea! I am a serious lurker and will do my best today to comment my ass off as well!
I love soup in a bread bowl. It is soup and it is bread – what more could you want! Panera French Onion in a breadbowl is fantastic. I also love a nice broccoli-cheddar in a bread bowl. Mmmm. I’m hungry now!
I had soup in a breadbowl once, at a renaisaunce festival and it was more like a beef stew, than a soup and I LOVED it!, I agree that watery soups might get the bowl too soggy, but would try it. Making me think, I would love to try one again.
Long-time reader and adorer.
I prefer to use hollowed-out bread as a hat, not a bowl.
i’ve never had one before!!!!!!
Zoot – you are awesome! I have read you every day for about three years, you are always so entertaining. I should comment more, but I never do. Thanks for sharing such great stories with everyone.
And yes, soup in breadbowls is delish! I love any soup in sourdough. It’s the perfect fall meal.
Well now I totally want soup in a bread bowl and it is only 8:31 in the morning.
Happy De-Lurking Day!
holy shite, zoot, look at all the comments! Happy De-Lurking Day!
I never understood getting bread bowls at fairs and the like…kind of a waste of all that bread, you know?
HI! The concept of the bread bowl is great — the end result after the soup is eaten creeps me out and looks gross.
But now I’m hungry.
Happy Mofo Delurking Day! Hope you and the family are well!
Hi Zoot! Not really de-lurking as I’ve commented before, just not often enough. Still read everyday and adore all the pics of your family.
Congratulations on your great news! Even though I’m past the years of new babies, it still makes me excited to hear when other people are starting that journey.
Don’t worry, everything will turn out fine.
You know, I’ve never had a bread bowl. I must try on so I can have an informed opinion. Where do they serve these things?
Gosh, this de-lurking and commenting thing is making my blog reading take so much longer than usual!!! I’m trying though.
Now… soup in bread bowls. I have to say the only kinds of soups I like in bread bowls would be creamy ones, and I suppose things like chili (but is chili a soup?). I expecially like soups like clam chowdar… or a creamy potato. Au bon Pain has a pumpkin soup that is perfect in a bread bowl.
Thanks… now I’m starving.
Good luck with your de-lurking!
Most yummy.
I love soup in bread bowls, but I don’t like many types of soup. My favorite soup to eat in a bread bowl is a nice creamy cheddar broccoli soup.
Dang Zoot, you sure know how to bring in the comment love! Me? I loves myself some breadbowls. We most often have chili in them, but anything I can get in a breadbowl is good by me. Dang. Now I’m hungry.
I like my soup in a bread bowl! I don’t care WHAT kind it is!
I love soup, but cannot stand the bread bowl.
Just say no to the bread bowl!
I’ve commented once or twice previously, but wanted to say HI on de-lurking day – love to read about you and your family!
Hey, Zoot! I have been reading you for awhile now, I am delurking…lol…hope to pimp out my blog as well…I love soup, broccoli-n-cheese, in a bread bowl from Quizno’s rocks…yumm…sounds good for lunch.
Dixiechick
I love bread in all shapes and sized – bread bowls are obviously included in the love affair.
I especially love French Onion soup in bread bowls…
This is so funny that you mentioned bread bowls. I was at Claim Jumper (I think they’re West Coast only) last night thinking about how I wished I could get French Onion soup in a bread bowl. Unfortunately, I could not. But, what’s a bagel bowl???? That sounds fantastic!
I’ve read your blog for a while but I have no idea if I’ve ever commented or not, so this could very well be a delurking comment.
And I want to take a chance to say CONGRATS. Much better than soup. Though soup in a bowl sounds good…mmmmm…..soup. Oh, anyway, hi.
What are you doing up at 5:30 in the morning? Don’t you know they roll the streets up at night here?
Plus, I hear a foamy-mouthed Dan Satterfield stalks the streets at night, and he can be a bit “grabby”
–UJ
I have never had soup in a bread bowl and would love to try it. As soon as I can find the right bread (that I don’t have to make myself), I will. I love all soups, so I vote for any and all soup/stew/chili in bread bowls.
Also, I would think that any cheese type of soup would be especially good in a bread bowl.
The type of bread would depend on my mood and what is going into it.
I don’t think I’ve ever had a bread bowl but that sounds really good right now. I check your blog about 10 times a day. I think you are hilarious and love to hear your stories. Congratulatons on your pregnancy and I really hope this one is successful. I will try to comment more from now on!
I LOVE breadbowls and I’m with you – any soup is good. Happy de-lurking day!
First time EVER commenting on any blog. Not so scary after all. I don’t know about soup in a bread bowl, but spinich dip in a bread bowl is some good eatin’!
I think chowders, chili and stews belong in bread bowls. It’s a bonus if they take the top and make it into garlic toast! Boudin in SF makes a crab and corn chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. Mmm mmm good!
I am sorta de-lurking. I comment here sometimes, like yesterday.
As for bread bowls, I LOVE them. Thicker creamier soups preferably, or chili are the best in them. And of course, I eat the entire bowl when I am done with the soup! **oink oink**
hey Zoot Haooy de-lurking day! i have posted just a few times, but wanted to say hello. Also, omg….can’t believe how big your daughter is getting. She looks so much bigger now then the pics from yesterday! Hope the hubs has a gun cause she is one beautiful girl!
Yum! I prefer sourdough bread bowls… actually, I’m not sure I’ve ever had one in another kind. But sourdough always goes well with soup.
I like chili, chowders, and creamy soups in bread bowls the most. I actually don’t think I’ve ever tried a broth based soup in a bread bowl, but I think it would make the bread get too soggy too fast or something for my taste.
And don’t forget dip in a bread bowl… YUM!
dude, i already comment (semi-regularly?), but read daily. love you lady!
I am not a big fan of soup…but a bread bowl always makes it better!
Happy Delurker Wedneday. First time commenter on your site here since I use a reader and tend to be lazy.
I have an excellent recipe for a hot cheese/ham dip that goes in a bread bowl. So good and naughty! So I’m thinking any thicker soups or stews or chili can go in a bread bowl. If you really want to up the anti put a dash of cheese on top and throw in the oven to toast and melt the cheese. Oh so good!
I like all creamy soups/chowders in bread bowls – but I agree, it should be sourdough bowls only. Clear soups do look a little icky in a bread bowl.
I’ve never had a bread bowl. I’m deprived.
Happy delurking day! We are delurked over at Chez Moogie as well.
Mmmm breadbowls. I love the sourdough with creamy soups…like clam chowder. I’ve not tried with with chilli yet. Never had a bagel bowl.
Daily reader; sometime commenter. I’m from San Francisco, so it would be a sin not to like chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. I love it, but I don’t like clear soups in a bread bowl of any kind.
Hi there!
Happy Mofo and all that.
I’ve commented here before, but more is better, no? Except for those above who believe less is best when it comes to soup cradled in bread. Me? I have no opinion. I will try it one day.
However, I have had something called Flintstone bread bowl which was awesome, but I don’t have a recipe. It’s like a meat salad (no, it’s not as gross as it sounds), and sits in the bread bowl, kinda like the dips mentioned. Anyone have the recipe?
Have a great day!
In a bread bowl. A yummy delicious soggy bread bowl.
And although I’m a lurker, I thought I would answer anyway
I asked people about their pets today in order to give the lurkers sometihng to talk about
De-lurking! I like bread bowls, but after I eat the soup I never eat the bread. *shrugs
I *love* bread bowls, any kind of bread and pretty much any kind of soup (and chowder). Come to think of it, I *love* soup too. I wish I could make it at home, but I have to make do with putting a slice of bread with lots of cheese on top of the soupe in the oven proof soup bowls I bought and then leave them under the grill for a few minutes. Yummy!
I delurked a long time ago, but in the name of celebration, here you go.
I’ll delurk to say hi.
LOVE soup bowls! I especially love creamy, cheesy potato soup in a sourdough bowl. Best ever!
I’m delurking! And leaving my reader! Can’t wait to meet you in a couple of weeks!
Happy De-Lurking Day!
I LOVE soup in bread bowls! I have never had a soup in a bread bowl that i haven’t liked. It’s the perfect food for this cooling-off fall weather.
Can I just say, you are doing an awesome job at de-lurking today! I have seen you all over the place! I bet you are making so many people’s days by leaving comments on their blogs. You rock, Zoot!
I love your blog and I like soup bowls from a few resteraunts, like the Clam Jumper, but sometime it’s a soggy mess and we have enough soggy here in Seattle.
Have a great day!
Meg
I don’t comment often (read never) because I’m basically a lazy ass but I just wanted to take this opportunity to say that I love your blog and your daughter has to be the cutest kid I’ve ever seen. Also, I never gave too much thought to bread bowls but I would have to agree with the no clear soup thing, that would be kind of gross plus how do you keep the break from soaking it all up.
Oh my gosh, 174 comments. You have a lot of lurkers out there!!
I only like some soup in bread bowls. I am kind of with MrZ.
Happy De-Lurking Day ~
Butternut Squash soup in a sourdough bread bowl. Mind you, I always feel like I’m wasting bread.
Happy delurking day
Your posts are in my top-5 first-choice reads in the morning, you always get me in a better mood (which is a HARD thing in the morning!)
I have never tried soup in a bread bowl, so I can’t comment on that… I don’t think they’re so popular here in Spain, I’ve never even seen one on a menu.
I think the only soup I’ve had in a bread bowl was clam chowder in a sour dough bowl. I’m not one for ordering soup unless it’s some kind of famous soup, like Hamburger Hamlet’s lobster bisque, or you know, something more famous than that.
I can deal with dips in bread bowls, but not soup. Sorry!
Delurking to say – bread bowls? the only place i’ve had those is in San Francisco! NYC better get me some more bread bowls. Keep rocking house!
Amy (owner of the daughter who is NikkiZ’s twin)
“Happy De-Lurking Day!”
DELURKING… or being guilted into it
I am a long time reader, but think this is only the second comment… and i think the last time was similiarily forced! Anyway, I read, and read, and read and feel as if I know you personally. You are one of my closest friends that I have never met ;-p
Have a great Wednesday Zoot, and congrats on the latest levels! I am holding my breath for the next few months…
I don’t like soggy bread. Therefore, I don’t like breadbowls.
Lots of people have commented, wow! I like Chili in a bread bowl, you used to be able to get that at Tim Hortons but they took that away SOB! If the soup is a good soup, then eating it out a bread bowl would only make it better.
Delurking, even though I have commented a few times.
I don’t personally like bread bowls, but my kids do. Their favorite is Broccoli Cheddar from Panera and we always order an extra cup of the soup so they can dump it into the bowl to have twice the soup.
Have a great day!
I love bread bowls! I don’t know what you mean by “white-bread bowls” though. I think I have only had sourdough bowls. I love the soup soaked mushy bread part at the end!
Happy De-Lurking Day! I (heart) your blog.
Ok, I’m delurking to say thank you for friending me on Flickr and thank you for having such a fun and hilarious blog. And yes, all soup in bread bowls – really, but the best is creamy potato. Damn you for making me hungry at 10:40!
Wow! Look at all those comments! I usually read your blog through the google reader so I don’t comment much. You’re my absolute all time favorite blogger though!
oh, and can you believe I’ve NEVER had soup in a bread bowl? I’m sure I’d like it though. yum!
Like so many others I read every day and never comment. For me, bread bowls rule. Basically, bread rules. I’m also partial to dip in bread bowls, like spinach dip in a nice rye bread bowl! You make me smile everyday and I appreciate so much how you openly share your life with this here internet. I look forward to reading your blog every day!!
I have to agree with Mr. Zoot – bread bowls really only work with chili – I think that its the sogginess that bothers me.
Goodness, look at all these commenters! I’m number… 193 I think? What were we talking about?
Yeah – nobody commented at all -
Happy DeLurking Day!
Never had soup in a bread bowl but soggy bread doesn’t sound appealing to me.
194! and 195! Yes to bread bowls.
Happy Mofo De-Lurking Day…on the topic of bread bowls, I really only like them with very chunky soups, almost stews. My husband, however, will put any soup in any bread bowl and declare them both better for it.
Just found your blog through the delurking message on another blog. Of course, I felt obligated to say hi.
Kerri and Ruby
Delurking! I like breadbowls in general but the fair I usually get them at has recently really increased prices!
*Happy De-Lurking Day*
There are a lot of comments to scroll through!
I think a bread bowl is a delicious accompaniment to any type of soup (but generally I prefer a thicker soup b/c that way your bowl doesn’t get soggy).
Delurking here..hello. I have never tried a bread bowl, am I depriving myself??
Delurking here. This means you should come by MY site and delurk. Just kidding.
I actually hate soup and soup bowls. I’m a terrible Midwesterner.
Pumpernickle bread bowl. Potato and Cheese chowder soup.
I’m just sayin.
I’m not actually a lurker, just a rare commenter…
But I’m a fan of the thicker soups IN the bread bowls, or having thinner soups in a cup with an accompanying hunk of bread to tear off and eat with it.
Now you’re making me crave Panera bread bowl and soup. And I already had yummy lunch.
You’ve inspired me to comment on all the blogs I read today.
I love soup, and I really really love bread, but not soup in bread bowls because I hate soggy bread. However, I will use a nice crusty piece of bread to sop up the dregs of my soup.
My husband loves soup in bread bowls. It is our differences that make us such a perfect match.
I’ve never had soup in a soup bowl. I am deprived.
Happy delurking day!
Broccoli cheddar in a bread bowl is divine.
I read you everyday, but I’m delurking to say…HAPPY DELURKING DAY ZOOT!!!
I love soup bread bowls, although I’d prefer a creamy soup as opposed to a brothy soup in a bread bowl, mostly because the creeamier soup will stick to the bread at the end for eating purposes…the brothy soup, not so much!
Aw, you are so loved! I’ve commented before, lots, so its not an official de-lurking, but I guess today is the day to comment!
(soup bowls good)
I’m a daily reader but occasional poster. I’ve never had soup in a bowl. I don’t really know what I would think of it. I just had tomato soup and a cheese sandwich for lunch…yummm!
Happy Delurking Day! Honestly, I’ve never had soup in a bread bowl. I know! I’ve seen it at Panera, but never partaken. I somehow have always thought I just couldn’t eat that much, so never did it. I just might try it because of this, though.
Hello! I love your blog and read it all the time. I also love creamy soups in bread bowls. Your kids are adorable!
Broccoli n cheese soup is best in a bread bowl. Sourdough. Yum yum.
And 214 comments? Uh, wow, people like ya!
I JUST found your site thanks to Bec and Call and, as a fellow Huntsvillian I am so thrilled! Now I get to look at all the archives and linky links and get ideas for my new (and under construction) blog.
Wonder if I’ve seen you around… hang out in book stores or libraries much?
Looking forward to visiting often!
I LOVE YOU ZOOT! Your blawg is awesome and I am delurking to tell you.
Not sure if I’m delurking…I may have commented once or twice in the past. Love your blog.
I’m not a huge soup fan because I don’t get much oral (chewing) satisfaction out of it. But if it were in a sourdough breadbowl? I’m IN!
I’ve been reading for a whiiiiiile–every day, in fact. And I think you’re pretty rad, and an awesome mom. The kind of mom who makes me think that maybe I COULD have kids someday. And I love your writing style and your photography. I’m gushing.
Anyway, the other day, I mentioned this conundrum to my boyfriend: You’re coming to Super Suppers in Atlanta, and I live in Atlanta, and I want to see you, but that seems like it would e weird because until now, I’ve simply been a LURKER.
I like to dip my bread in the soup and eat it before it gets too soggy. Ewe…sog.
I enjoy bread bowls- especially with chowders or hearty soups. What constitues a chowder? Why aren’t stews chowders? I am hearing chowder “chowdah” in my head right now like I was in Boston. You have to comment on my site once it is back up because I’m AWOL for the delurking day.
Not really a lurker, although I don’t comment much, and actually, I probably won’t be commenting much again after I make a total ass of myself by asking:
There are special bowls for bread? And for bagels? Who knew?! Um, not me, obviously. Can you tell my husband is the cook in our house?
Happy De-Lurking Non-Feed-Reading Day!
And in regards to the bread bowls, anything but clear broth, and I’m golden.
I comment once in a BLUE moon but I wanted to comment on this for sure.
My mom went with me to Red Lobster and she was not really hungry so she got the crab fondue that comes in a bread bowl. My mom being the so well traveled and well learned mom that she is ate the fonsue out of the bread bowl with her spoon. I was so proud. I sunk in my seat.
Daily reader here, from MA. Don’t comment as much as I should. But I’m sending love your way today!
Bread Bowl at Qunicy Market in Boston with Clam Chower in it ROCKS. It’s amazing bread and although many of you said creamy soups weren’t good in bread bowls, I have to politely disagree because the chowder (or chowdah) soaks in JUST ENOUGH not to saturate the bread.
Damn. Now I’m hungry.
Commenting my ass off, but apparently not enough, because it’s still huge.
No bread bowls for me, relating to the reason mentioned above.
I am now delurking. I LOVE soup in a bread bowl. But I prefer something creamy like Broc/Cheese in a sourdough bowl…yumm!!!!! ALso, how do I become a friend/family on your flickr??
Here Miss *raises hand*
I love soup in a bread bowl. I never can eat the soup fast enough. I just want to eat tasty, delicious bread bowls. Carbs equally yummy.
I read daily, rarely comment. I am delurking. I am for chili in a bread bowl and that is it. Maybe, I have only had the white bread bowl though and thats why.
This page took like an hour to load. Holy comments Zoot!!
I pretty much love anything that have flour and water cooked together. Bread…yummy!
But the sourdough bread bowls are the best.
Just wanted to say hello and Happy Delurking Day.
The only soups I like in bread bowls are creamy soups, but I don’t eat the bread because it gets too soggy.
Bagel bowls? Seriously? That sounds great!
Man, I really should comment more often, because I often have the impulse to reply to something you’ve written, and of course now I can’t think of all the stuff I’ve wanted to say. I’ll try harder from now on…
I’ve been reading for quite a while, but barely comment. I, too, hide behind the feed reader. But I love your blog! I am (finally) reading the last Harry Potter book (OH MY GOD, THE SUSPENSE) and am stopping every couple of chapters to listen to your podcast.
Creamy soup, must be STEAMING hot, in a sourdough bread bowl.
I only find myself delurking when I have an “assignment” from the blogger… I really need to work on that!
Happy de-lurking day.
Heavy soup in sourdough is ok once in awhile but generally I’m pretty “eh” on the whole thing.
Honestly…I don’t like soggy bread, so soup in a bread bowl is out for me.
I do like to dip the bread, though. I just don’t like it saturated with soup!
I’m delurking today at all my favorite blogs. This commenting this is totally new for me and more than a little bit scary. Anyhow, I would have to say that all soups are better in a bread bowl. I’ve only heard of sourdough bread bowls though. There are other kinds?
Happy De-Lurking Day! Looooooooong time reader, but rare poster!
Personally, I miss the corn chowder and bread bowls my college served in one of the dining halls. No one else comes close to their corn chowder.
Anyways, Happy De-Lurk day! I really just do what the Internet tells me to do.
Delurking to say that FEW places in Texas serve soup in bread bowls; I can think of exactly one in my city – Quiznos. Love bread, though – so it can’t be too bad!
I’m only “sort of” a lurker. I read all the time and comment occasionally. I shit my knickers if I got the amount of comments that you get!
I think I’ve commented before, but not always. I read almost every day however.
Anyway, I’m de-lurking to say HELLO! And holyshit, you’ve got a lot of fans!
Have a great day!
Delurking to say hi. And also to say I like sourdough bread bowls filled with french onion soup. Or clam chowder.
Oh how I do love my Google Reader.
I only de-lurk to help bail you out of jail, and on National De-Lurking Day.
I love the soup in a bread bowl, especially if it is clam chowder in a sourdough bowl, eaten in San Francisco. That’s the best, Jerry! The Best!
Soup in sourdough bowls is awesome. Hi longtime reader first time commenter. I really enjoy reading your blog. Keep up the good work.
See what happens when I’ve been commenting MY ass off all day? I get to be all lonesome down here at the very bottom of 250-some comments when I finally get to your blog!
But better late than never!
I don’t like soups in bread bowls but a creamy spinach artichoke dip? Ummm ummmm gooooood.
Wow you’re popular today Zoot. Congrats! Do you get a prize or something? You should.
Ok, delurking to say “hi”.
Bread bowls–yes. But only really good sourdough. And not anymore cause I went low carb & it’s totally working!!!
Only chili & creamy soups too.
LOOK at YOU !!!
244 comments….i am SO jealous!
I even put up the delurk button and NOT ONE comment..
think its time for me to shut it down….
i will just remain a reader …
Enjoy your blog daily!
Zoot? Are you going to continue with those blog spotlights from the arrest thingy?
Soup in bread bowls=thumbs up!
And, on an unrelated note, just want to say I’ve been thinking about you a lot over the last few days and I am sending happy healthy positive pregnancy vibes your way…
Hello! I read a million blogs daily and yours is one of my favorite. I have never ever left a comment. So there you go. You’re the first!
Hi Zoot. You have a ridiculous number of comments on this entry. Just in case you didn’t know that yet
I’ve never had soup in a bread bowl. I have had spinach dip in a bread bowl and it is quite delicious.
Oh…my…heavenly…doG…did I really just have to scroll down ten thousand miles to leave a comment!?!?
I’m not a lurker, just an admirer and insanely coveting your…um…curly hair!
Apparently I have commented here before as my information is saved, but DELURK anyways
Loves ya, Zoot!
And in my not so humble, so everyone listen to me now opinion, the only soupish item that should be in a bread bowl is chili. Anything else makes the bread squishy and ick. Although I will make an occasional exception for Quizno’s broccoli and cheese soup.
I love bread and soup. Soup IN bread is awesome.
I heart your blog. And your children are adorable!
Also we have a lot in common. I love pens, Harry Potter and Pens.
LOVE bread bowls. What is NOT to love!? Especially if it is a really rustic sourdough with a nice cream of potato soup in it with fresh dill. HELLO CARB OVERLOAD!
Mmmmm soup in bread bowls, chili in bread bowls, salad in bread bowls, bread bowls all by themselves with a bit of butter on the side … it’s all good.
I just finished dinner and I am hungry all over again. Dammit.
I’m a lurker who comments occasionally but loves your site all the same! Happy De-lurking day! mmmmmm bread bowls
Bread bowls are yummy. Happy de-lurking day!
Just about an every single day reader. I enjoy reading your blog…found you through Amalah a couple of years ago…gosh… has it been that long??? Congrats on the conception!!! Woo hoo!!
Just saying Hello!
Happy de-lurking day! I love all types of soup in a bread bowl:)
zoot! de-lurking to say THANK YOU for your fall TV schedule overview you made… I shared it with my other tv-obsessed co-workers and they just loved it. it’s been on my coffee table for weeks and i would have missed so many shows without it! I visit your blog everyday and really should comment more. i’m so excited about your pregnancy — sending you good vibes! Yay Zoot!
Happy De-Lurking Day! I like my soup in a regular bowl too. Hooked on Panera Bread’s broccoli cheddar soup…. sigh…..
mostly delurking. I’ve commented a couple of times and totally dig your family pics. We share a love for Flickr. My daughter and I get along a lot like your son and you. And. I’ve got a little one almost 10 years younger than her – only difference there is that I have on in the middle too (7 yrs older than Mini Mann).
Thanks for reminding me about this fabulous blogging holiday!
i have a confession.
i have never once tasted soup from a breadbowl.
fancy….
delurking officially. i found you via amalah years ago but am not sure if I’ve ever commented. So soup in bread bowls – i’ve never had it! not sure if I’d like it but maybe just maybe if it was a chowder, I would. congratulations on your pregnancy, best of luck!
ok…i am sure this won’t get read but i found your blog kinda-sorta through th NaBloPoMo group and you are really funny…i am taking the morning off from blogging and brainstorming and joining to actually talk and comment with other bloggers…but i just wanted to drop you a note that i really like your blog and your blog designs!
I think I’m a little late, but I am a very deep lurker and thought this would be a good time to fix that. So, bread bowls. One time my husband ordered French Onion soup in a bread bowl at a restaurant, ate all the soup, then started on the bread bowl. The waitress seemed shocked by this and made a comment about how hungry he must be, which made him totally self-conscious. So, are you supposed to eat the bread bowl? It seems such a waste to just let it be thrown away. It’s bread! Starving people and all that. Plus a little Catholic guilt thrown in.
Hello, I think I’ve delurked before and have commented on occasion. I’ve been reading your blog 2 years last 4th of July. I live in London and work in animation. I think of you whenever I see a Crispy creme doughnut outlet ( new to the the UK), visit the Zoo (the Reptile House was in the first Harry Potter film) and ditto when I pass St Pancras station (where they catch the train to Hogwarts). I don’t read your blog every day as I work in a studio at the moment (I used to work at home) and can’t be seen to be reading blogs when I should be working. I catch up with your news several times a month and am crossing appendages that everything works out ok for you.
I have been reading your blog for a couple of years now and I have maybe only commented twice. So I guess I’m technically still a lurker. Nonetheless, I am delurking today to tell you that I think you are awesome and I enjoy reading your writing. Also, I downloaded all of your HP podcasts and listened to them even though I haven’t read the book. I HAD TO KNOW what happened. And it didn’t ruin it for me at all – I will still read the book anyway. So thanks!
Yes! I love bread bowls, have you tried the Quiznos ones with the meat in them? YUM
And I read everyday.. Love your blog!
Ok I’m a bit late. But I don’t think that I really need to De-lurk. I comment too much.
I *just* found you.
I’m, um, not really a fan of soup?
Ok, I am delurking totally late, but I was sick last week and, well, lazy too.
Also, I’m not sure if it’s delurking if you’ve commented before, but I don’t comment all the time.
