What more could you ask for?

Ice Cream GirlI don’t pimp out a lot of things on my blog because I don’t have a lot of talent offering even semi-professional reviews. Most of the times I try to promote something new my sentences involve an excess amount of “AWESOME!” However, I really want to tell you about our new favorite place to eat: Jason’s Deli.

It’s kinda pricey, but it offers the most extensive sandwich menu I’ve ever seen. And they clearly mark healthy and vegetarian menu options as well as some of the yummiest soups EVER. If you have one in your town, you should check it out. It’s more expensive than the average sandwich shop – but if you eat there – you get a bonus. Complimentary. Ice. Cream. As in: FREE. NikkiZ is all about some free ice cream. I’m not, of course. I only eat raw fruits and vegetables.

And free ice cream.

Brother is begging for some ice cream
LilZ really wishes I would do a better job teaching his sister how to share.

I love her shirt. Also, free ice cream. I love that a lot too.

  2. dcfullest says:

You forgot to mention the yummy mini muffins on the salad bar.

  3. Missy says:

If there’s free ice-cream, I’m there. Mini-muffins sound good too.

  4. Casey says:

I love love love Jason’s Deli. My favorite is the salad bar and their ice tea is really good. Do they have Jason’s Deli’s up North? I’ve only seen them here in the South

  5. Jessica says:

Dude, I love myself some Jason’s Deli. I love that they put guacamole on sandwiches. They rock. Totally worth the high prices for the large portions and free ice cream.

  6. Kristabella says:

    She’s so freaking cute!

And he’s just willing her to give him a taste! Like some Jedi mind trick or something.

  7. Audrey says:

Do you have to buy something to get the free ice cream? Because I would totally just go there for some ice cream one day. But they probably frown upon that, don’t they?

  8. amber says:

I went to Jason’s Deli for the first time on Tuesday. Elizabeth’s school was having a “Family Night Out” fundraiser there, and I was suitably impressed with the food, and not too thrown by the prices, since it was in Buckhead (AKA Usually Old Money Atlanta), so I was prepared for something outrageous. :)

  9. Another huge fan of Jason’s Deli here! I think I know where one of our weekend meals will come from now;>

  10. wordnerd says:

    AND great baked potatoes!

  11. Stephanie says:

Bummer… the closest one to me is a couple of hours away. Maybe they’ll creep their way north through VA. Although, free ice cream? I might have to make sure to stop there specially if I am ever in the vicinity of one.

Also, I find it amusing that you think that it’s kind of pricey. Not that it isn’t for sandwiches, it’s just sadly that my perspective on what is an inexpensive lunch out is terribly skewed by the fact that all the places around me are that much or more… and don’t give out free ice cream. This is why I am boring and bring lunch most days.

I wish we had one…free ice cream? Man..closest we have to a great sandwich shop like that isMcCalisters Deli..they have an awesome specialty sandwich menu and their sweet ice tea is out of this world..which is very hard to find north of the mason dixon line..lol..

I love love love Jason’s Deli. The Tomato Basil soup is amazing and I love the mini jalapeño corn muffins on the salad bar.

  14. carrisablog says:

Dude, me and Casey… we seem to both agree on the amount of love we have for Jason’s Deli… how funny.

  15. Juliesmama says:

Nikkiz’s hair always looks so cute. My little girl looks great about 50% of the time. Mostly she has varying degrees of yucky food stuck in it.

  16. LaShawn says:

I LOVE Jason’s Deli as well. It is one of the few NON Mexican food places I crave regularly.

Every time I see NikkiZ I almost die from the cuteness.

  17. The Muse says:

Those cute little cheeks of NikkiZ are almost more delicious looking than the free ice cream.

Seriously. And to know me, you’d have to know how obsessive I am about my ice cream.

  18. mdv says:

My husband likes to shop at a fresh farm/gourmet food store. He says it is because of the quality, but I think it is because you get a free ice cream for each $100 you spend.

  19. She’d be silly to pass up free ice cream. Up here in the northeast, we have Stew Leonard’s…it’s a ginormous super market type store. They are only in the northeast though. When we spend $100 we get free ice cream too. This place, if you are ever in the NY/CT area, you must go…they have a petting zoo…and a liquor store and fresh everything!!! The place is set up like a maze and as you walk through you pass some talking farm animals that sing and dance and stuff. (hey this kind of goes along the lines of your post “While we’re talking about food”)…sorry went off on a tangent there…oops!

  20. Reed says:

When I moved to Louisiana, I discovered Jason’s Deli. They have the best salad bar around — and it’s a great place for vegetarians. P.S. Vegetarians love, love, love free ice cream.

  21. junkie says:

i had no idea you’d never been to jason’s deli! loooooove!

  22. Maribeth says:

Poor Lilz is just learning that nothing stands between a girl and her ice cream!

  23. erin says:

I LOVE Jason’s Deli. We had one right around the corner from our house in Texas. I haven’t lived near one since 2001, when we moved from there. So, so sad for me. But so HAPPY you get to experience the greatness!

  24. Magnolia Mom says:

Uh! Your kids are so cute! I really need to come up that way someday and meet yall.

  25. slynnro says:

OMG. Jason’s Deli fed me through college. The baked potatoes are a heavenly experience. Especially the BBQ one.

  26. Brie says:

Love, love, love Jason’s Deli. One of the many things I miss about living in Birmingham.

  27. Lauren says:

I love Jason’s. Its one of my favorites and I am a sandwich addict. I make my rounds at McAlisters, NY Subs, Jasons, Potbelly and all the local sandwich places several times a week. The salad bar is good too if for some crazy reason you ever get tired of the sandwiches. You can never go wrong with a great Muffaleta or the California Club. The free ice cream is great and I love the chocolate pudding with chocolate chips at the salad bar too…

  28. Nags says:

free ice cream? wow!!! and how come she doesnt share. she looks like such a sweet kid who wudnt really mind!

  29. Rachel says:

We have had Jason’s for like 15 plus years in Austin. I LOVE the Turkey Muffaletta. It has olives. YUM!

  30. Jenny H. says:

I am totally going to have to check them out. I HEART DELI’S!

  31. TammyK says:

Sounds great…Wish I lived near your area.

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
