We are heading south today for two reasons. 1) To pick up LilZ in Georgia from his Dad’s house and 2) See my sister-in-law at Auburn. We have been training NikkiZ for the last two weeks to do a trick to show her Aunt Settan (what she calls her) the next time she sees her. We say, “What does Aunt Settan says?” and she says “War Eagle!” When we ask, “What does Daddy say?” she says, “Roll Tide!” She still hasn’t learned to say “Go Vols” when asked what I say (even though I taught her the damn trick) but MrZ’s Mom taught her the cutest addition last week. Now, when you say, “What does Mimi say?” she responds, “I love you.”
HA! Most. Awesome. Thing. Ever. Even better than Cisco’s trick holding crackers on his nose.
Now - who wants to place bets about whether or not she’ll do any of it today when we actually are visiting her Ware Eagle Aunt? I’d bet almost $50 she’ll just smile cutely and give that look that says, “Yeah, right.”

You mean she doesn’t perform perfectly on command? Drat! heh. I hope she does though - it sounds tremendously cute.
Isn’t that the way it always works? You brag about your child and then they do the exact opposite when you want them to.
Hope you have a great trip!
Wa-hoo! War Eagle! My father-in-law Alma Matar!
I am willing to say that if you hadn’t blogged about it? She totally would have done it. But now? It is iffy….I think she will just look cute, and you will have to video her saying it.
So funny. This is when you secretly video her in advance so when she flakes out you can still show it off.
Thomas still has never performed on command and he is almost 3. So good luck with that.
Remembering your post about thinking positively, I say she does it. Have safe and fun trip!
If she’s anything like my boy, she’s going to take this opportunity to not only NOT do that trick but also to become totally mute. (This is also done in doctor’s offices when asked how many words the child has — the nurse always gives that look like “right lady. that kid can talk. uh huh.”
Ha, I love those tricks! I was so proud when Charlie learned the following sequence:
Me: Charlie, what does the cat say?
Charlie: Meow.
Me: What does the snake say?
Charlie: Ssss.
[...et cetera...]
Me: What does Mama say?
Charlie, in a soft, musical tone mimicking my own dulcet voice: Hi, baby.
…But I never thought to give him a puppy biscuit afterward.
I’ll take that bet!
Mine NEVER perform when I want them to!
We are USC fans, and when asked “What time is it?”, both of my children scream “It’s BOOTY time!”. It occured to me AFTERWARDS that it could be misconstrued, but it is waaay too late now!!
I taught my 2 year old niece to say “Go Tigers!” (for Univ. of Memphis) whenever she sees ANY “football men.” My BIL is a huge Hog fan. You can imagine how he appreciates that. But she also does Pig Sooie, much to my chagrin.
I guess it might have been important to point out that USC’s quarterback is John David BOOTY, eh?
Before y’all think I am really freaky!
All of that could be eliminated if you’d just teach her “Geaux Tigers”!!!!!
Just sayin’…
The guy that owns the gymnastics center where we’ve always taken the girls is in the “Go Vols” camp.
When my oldest was taking gymnastics he was her teacher for one session, “And what is the best color in the world?”
“ORANGE!!” was the responding shout from the eight little kids.
LOL!! My kids never preformed on command at that age, lol. I finally resorted to taping their cuteness when they weren’t watching, lol and share the video with family and friends, lol
WAR EAGLE!!!
hahaha.. let us know what happened!
Did she preform on command? Or just bat her eyelashes at her aunt?
Just so she got the War Eagle! part right, that’s what is important. The Roll Tide and Go Vols not so much. Guess where I went to college? LoL.
[...] mentioned before how we’re trying to teach my daughter to do tricks. She is still performing the college allegiance trick, but she has changed it a little bit. Now - [...]
