What a mess. The purpose of rescuing a pet and adopting it is to find it a loving home. Ellen claims to have done so but the agency was quick to snatch Iggy back. The agency should have been a bit more patient. I just hope Iggy finds a great home. He’s so adorable and is a celebrity pooch now.

Posted on this today myself. I’m sorry, I understand that Ellen didn’t read the “fine print” but honestly, should there be “fine print” on a dog adoption?

These “rescues” are (seemingly) all a bit out of control with the amount a power they try to exert over who is allowed a dog and who is not, and the conditions, etc. etc. etc.

If only they took half as good care when they placed children in foster homes and adoptions.

They only allow their dogs to go into homes where the children are 14 and over.

I’m never heard of shelter that only placed dogs in homes where the children are over 14. On E! this morning, someone speculated that — and this goes along with the comment about the owners “not wanting to be bullied by the Ellens of the world” — it’s a Hollywood thing, read: don’t give anyone special treatment regardless of how much money or influence they have. Sucks for the kids, and for the dog.

The shelter should totally give the dog back to those girls. It is so sad. And I felt terrible for Ellen after seeing the footage of the beginning of her show and how she broke down.

I heard about this just this morning and it made me so mad. This so-called rescue group would rather that innocent dog be in a cage than with a loving family? This just doesn’t make any sense. I get that they want people to go through the proper procedure to adopt an animal, but couldnt’ they have done their background checks or whatever while letting the dog stay with his family?

I think the owners are being real asshats about not giving the dog back. I saw an article last night where one of the owners said they “wouldn’t be bullied around by the Ellens of the world.” WHATEVER! Bully = Arnold Schwarzenegger. Ellen? Crying? Asking you nicely to give the dog back? Not a bully. Don’t be jerks — let the girls have the dog back. It’s not like they’re 7 and 6. 11 and 12 is close enough to 14. Putzes!

That is so wrong on so many levels. #1 I bet they dont’ call all the new owners to see how the animals are doing. I bet they just did it because it was Ellen. #2 why remove a happy dog? To prove a point?? It makes me so angry.

This is really sad. I understand taking the dog back. I don’t understand not giving a dog to a family with children who are under 14. I hope that the family can go ahead and adopt the do anyway.
