Why do I challenge the universe?

Remember how I was talking about how insane yesterday was? Well – I should have waited – because the universe wasn’t done yet.

After getting her from daycare, I took NikkiZ home for a “nap” so that I could work from home. She is usually good for at least 2 hours and most of the times she’ll hit 3. But yesterday? Nope. 45 minutes. That’s all she gave me. And the rest of the time, she was clingy and wanting nothing more than to be held all night. It wasn’t that she was in a bad mood, just wanting to be having fun: In my arms.

We ate beef stew for dinner and colored and made glitter art. She was fine doing that because she was right there by my side. Then, after MrZ came home and we were talking, NikkiZ puked beef stew all over me. Out of the blue. No fever, no nothing. Just pukage. After I got her cleaned up, I held her and rocked her for a bit, making sure that was it. She kept gurgling a little bit, so I was worried she would puke again. Which, of course, she did. All over me again. Still no fever. I started worrying about food poisoning, but nobody else was sick. After about an hour-and-a-half of her sleeping on my chest and no puking, I finally put her to bed.

What a day. I’m starting to wonder if it was a side-effect of the gas leak. (Or was it ebola?) I’ve looked into it a bit, and it is a possibility, but if that’s the case then she was exposed to more than we thought. Which is kinda scary, if you ask me.

I’m heading to Atlanta later today for a gathering at Super Suppers. I’m looking forward to visiting with a few bloggers and bringing home some yummy food. And hopefully functioning the majority of the day without a toddler attached to my hip.

Have a great time. I hope that NikkiZ is all better now. Hope you get a lot of great food!

  2. Her expression says, “Yay, I puked, I feel all better!” and LilZ is like, “Yay, she didn’t puke on me!” :)

  3. The Muse says:

Have a safe drive into the city, and hopefully you won’t find yourself needing to get on Peachtree St.! :)
(I’ll be sitting in my cube, staring out at the interstate, wondering if one of the cars wizzing by is yours.)

I’m so paranoid. I would have ended up in the hospital waiting for 10 hours just so they could say “Oh, it’s a kid thing she’s fine.”

  5. Nancy says:

My middle daughter did the same thing last week with no previous ebola or gas leak exposure. It’s like roulette flu or something – the rest of us have been fine. :::knocking on wood:::

  6. We also had a random vomiting incident here. As a newish mom, it was my first, and I must say I am very proud of myself for being so good at being puked on.

  7. Rachel says:

Yummy! Have a great time. Hope NikkiZ is better today.

  8. wordnerd says:

Ah…random vomit. I miss those days.

  9. Heather says:

Haha what an awesome picture! You should print that one for LilZ to put in his locker or some such.
I hope the random puking is done for! That’s one of the things I dread most about motherhood :P

  10. Poor little munchkin. I hope she’s feeling better today!

    Have fun at Super Suppers.

Delurking (finally) to say I hope NikkiZ is feeling better!

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
