So, for a few days before I had that stomach bug, and every day since that bug, I’ve been queasy. (I have an aversion to the word nauseous because I can never remember how to spell it.) I was trying to explain it to MrZ yesterday. First, I feel like I’m so hungry I’m going to puke. Then, I eat, and I feel like the food isn’t sitting well and I’m going to puke. It’s off and on, but mostly on, all day long.
Tonight it was really bad. I was just queasy. And then it hit me. Wait, I’m pregnant. Is this part of the pregnancy?
I had no morning sickness with NikkiZ, or with any of my failed pregnancies, but I was permanently queasy the first trimester with LilZ. I never puked, but I was always nauseous. It hit me tonight that maybe I’m feeling the same symptoms. BUT - that would have them starting at about 7 or 8 weeks. Has anyone else ever had morning sickness start around week 7 or 8? I mean, I guess I probably shouldn’t call it “morning sickness” since I don’t puke, but you get the point. What do you think? Should I relish in the pukey feeling because it may be a pregnancy symptom? Or should I get myself tested for Ebola?

I have no experience with pregnancy, but I say relish it. Yay symptoms!
Go for the pregnancy queezyness! It will make it more fun.
I am currently pregnant for the first time and I found out at 8 weeks, 2 days later WHAMMO, brutal morning sickness. I threw up everyday until the 24th week. Hope I diden’t scare you it’s apprantly rare and I had to take medication for it.
I was really sick from week 6 to week 9 and on and off from there. Sounds like the prime time for morning sickness to kick in. Yeah
I got the same nauseous feeling when I was pregnant with my little man. I also did the same, hmm hungry eat, ugh no don’t eat, back and forth. I say, Hoorah for pregnancy symptoms!
Yes!! You are totally pregnant and what you feel is totally what I felt. Around week 8 I started feeling queasy at certain smells, week 9 and 10 were even worse. I felt queasy, so I didn’t eat, then felt worse and finally did eat because I wasn’t throwing up and then felt queasy again. It was madness I tell ya! It got better right around 11-12 weeks and then I gained my 30 pounds. Now I have 8 weeks left and I’ve gained 35 pounds and the indigestion is keeping me from gaining a lot, but I still did some serious Halloween candy damage.
I had this problem with all three of my kids. I would be soooo hungry but yet food made me want to vomit. I say you are normal, not infected with Ebola. Hey, we have the Plague at our house.
I was only nauseated for about 4 days during week 9. Which was great, except for that being the weekend of my sister’s wedding and being surrounded by awesome food and drink. I ate grits, grits, and more grits.
My morning “sickness” started around 5 weeks with my second pregnancy (my first pregnancy didn’t last long enough). I never threw up but oh, I didn’t want to even SMELL food when I felt sick. It was terrible, but always reminded me I was cooking a baby inside, and I’d take anything to keep that baby going. My 3rd pregnancy just brought tiredness and an aversion to just certain foods, not “sickness”. So after all that, I say relish it because hey, there’s a baby in there!
I was queasy/puking from midway through week 6 until week 36. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy, but I think that you should relish this particular queasy feeling…
Oh that was me with all 4 of my kids. All I can say is load up on protein. It helps the tummy. I am so glad you are queasy!
Yep. Hungry - so very hungry - and then if I thought about eating, I thought I would be sick. From about week 8-12.
You be’s preggo
Totally pregnancy queasiness. And starting in week 8 is normal, from what I hear. I always found I was less queasy the more I ate so feel free to chow down.
I started to get queasy around 6 weeks with both my pregnancy and I didn’t want to eat. The one thing that help were ginger snap cookies. I didn’t even have to eat them. The smell would calm my stomach enough that I could eat real food.
When I was pregnant with Foo, no morning sickness. When I was pregnant with Luna, it turned on like a switch during week six and off like a switch during week 21. Oh, and for a good portion of the time it was “all day sickness”…it didn’t pay attention to its name and just be MORNING sickness…
I say relish it, as much as possible. My morning sickness (which like Cari’s was all day long!) started at week around 6. My doc said that was a sign it would be pretty bad and she was right! She said most people get it between week 8 and week 14… sounds to me like you’re right on track! Hope it doesn’t get any worse….
I didn’t start getting queasy (never barfed) until week 8-9. Unless it’s coming out the other end, you’re probably ok I’d think.
This comment brought to you by Tums.
Relish away! Don’t hate me, but I never had morning sickness. Either time.
I did have HORRIBLE indigestion. The worst.
If that makes you feel any better. Or not hate me!
2 boys, 30 pounds lost each pregnancy…yes, I kid you not…mine was all day sickness and it lasted from the day I implanted til mid-c-section……no kidding! Good luck! Happy Puking. GEt yourself some lemon drops girlfriend and preggie pops and wrist thingys
No need to call the CDC-I was feeling sick with my son from about 5 weeks to 5 1/2 months…..never really puked but always felt like it was hiding right around the corner….I never got that way with my daughter-maybe its a boy!!
Well if you can find a reason to be positive about feeling sick, I say go for it
i think it’s the pregnancy sickness, kicked into high gear from all the candy.
you don’t want to have an ADD baby, do you?
i’m kidding.
eat as much candy as you want, just lay off the beer.
(although, i hear red wine is ok after the second trimester? i don’t know. i’ve never had a kid. but maybe that would be a good time to do some sipping and build your wine knowledge up?)
Yep. You are totally having morning sickness! Yay! Bring on the Sprite and Ginger Ale. Cheers.
wow. I haven’t been here in a long LONG while, I do apologize! Just coming back to the blogosphere after a break.
Wow. you’re pregnant??!! Congratulations! I would say enjoy the symptoms, but then again why would you want to enjoy something that’s making you miserable. …that’s just my own take on it
I was the same way when I was pregnant with my son. It didn’t start until 8 weeks. With my daughter the queasyness started like right away.
Yay for being pregnant! Yay babies!
It’s the baby honey. Yeah for you. It means your progesterone (sp?) is doing what it’s supposed to and it means your more likely to have a healthy baby. I did not have it w/kid #1 at all, but w/#2 I figured out that as long as I ate a couple crackers every 2 hours I could keep it more or less at bay. I had to do this in bed at night as well. Kinda crazy, huh? I never actually got sick, but man were there times when I wished I would. It should pass some time around week 12. In the meantime, know that you’re body is taking good care of the little one inside. (and no bearing on the gender, both of mine were girls & I was SURE the 2nd was a boy cause I was so sick w/her and not at all w/the first.)
I vote for relish it. Isn’t queasiness regarless of whether you throw up or not a good sign?
I concur - I had ‘morning sickness’ from week 8 through to 14. I never actually puked but I felt like I was just about to. It was worse in the afternoons and even the thought of cooking would make me want to lie down. The only food that made me feel better was oranges and snickers bars. I always felt that if I actually puked it would make me feel better but of course I never did so who knows!!. Its just part of a ‘normal’ pregnancy so enjoy it while it lasts and then celebrate when it goes
Zoot my morning (really evening) sickness started at about 7 weeks and lasted until about 13 or so…and my Dr. told me that the “peak time” for morning sickness is from 8-11….so I would say, absent any other Ebola-type symptoms, that this is right on track.
I say relish it! I started about the same time as you for both girls, but it didn’t last too long. I was done with it before my first trimester was over.
PS: Saltine crackers. Carry them with you everywhere.
You could be talking about me a couple of months ago. I spent my pregnancy up to week 8 worrying that something was going to go wrong, because I didn’t feel sick at all, and then - WHAM! I walked around wearing sea-bands the whole time, because although I was never actually sick, I had this permanent nausea. It passed around 5 weeks later though, so I still count myself lucky… Of course, I spent those 5 weeks wishing it would pass, and then I was worried when it did, because surely it wasn’t normal to be feeling this well… *rolls eyes*
hopefully you are relishing it…..maybe it is going to be a boy??
I was sick from week 6 until - yeah, pretty much when my kids came out. It wasn’t morning sickness, it was ALL DAY sickness and I had to have meds. For the queasiness, try to have something constantly in your stomach. If you wait until you’re hungry, you’ll get even more queasy. Try eating a few crackers every hour, it should help!
I was sick from 6 weeks to the end of the fourth month. No matter what anyone says, it suxs. PS I have all boys.
I had nausea from about 6 weeks to the end of my pregnancy. I ended up only gaining 15 pounds because of this. It really sucked not being able to pig out like I would have liked to.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but YAY, pukiness!
Oh the suck and blow of pregnancy - I lost like 20 pounds in my first pregnancy, I was actually put on nutritional supplements - it all started at about 6 weeks so looks like your right on target
I felt that same way starting around the middle of the 6th week. Luckily it went away around week 10, just in time for me to break my big toe. I think feeling icky was better. Enjoy!
I was definitely sick by week eight. You’re not alone!
Yea! I think this is a good sign. I was ill from the first week of my pregnancy with Max. Never threw up just felt kind of carsick all the time. Eating lots of tiny meals helped. I also ate a lot of Goldfish and those little powder sugar donuts! Those pressure point wristbands that they sell for sea sickness helped a lot.
Can pregnant women have ginger? If so, I’ve found that ginger candies work best for upset tummies. My local natural foods store sells some that are dusted with powdered sugar to make eating them a little less hot. I can’t remember the brand, but they also make a ginger brew that’s good for the nauseousness (is that a word??). Yay, pregnant Zoot!
The inability to puke does not discount the experience; I had it both ways & neither is better. I found dry - darkly (not burnt - but almost) toasted white bread to be the best thing to ease the queasy but I know everyone is different.
With Gameboy I was queasy from 10 weeks to…umm…well still maybe a touch queasy 15 years later
I started feeling queasy before I knew I was pregnant. It was one of the signs that clued me in that I should - you know - maybe check the calendar and pee on a stick! I stayed queasy during my 2nd pregnancy until around 12 weeks.
I had none (not even hardly a burp) with Shortman, but puked my guts out the week before I found out about the one I miscarried.
Probably a pregnancy symptom in your case. I say bask, it’s not ebola.
the symptoms for all pregnancies are not the same. so it shud be that!
Oh how exciting! I was complaining about my “morning” sickness at the doctor’s office last week- she says it’s a good sign of rising hormone levels. And then I barfed all over the office when they tried, and failed, and tried again to take my blood. Arf.
That definitely sounds like morning sickness to me. And with my last pregnancy I didn’t start feeling that way until about 7 weeks, so sounds like it just hits some people later. (Oh, and I like to say nauseated instead of nauseous simply because the latter is too hard to spell).
I vote for calling it hormone poisoning - that covers a whole bunch of stuff.
WOW, there are a lot of comments here already. I am so late to the game. But I’ll tell you that my morning sickness started at 7 weeks. And there’s an old wives tale that says the sicker you are the more likely the pregnancy is to stick, so bring on the nausea!
Well, clearly you’re not lacking for support here. But I’m sick as a dog, and at about 7 or 8 weeks myself.
According to my OB, this is “prime territory” for all those hormonal changes and adjustments in your body.
For me, I stopped taking the OTC prenatal and started on a prescription prenatal that has more B6 and no iron (Yay for the no iron, let me tell you!)
Though morning [or all day, if we're honest] sickness is considered a wonderful sign for pregnancies - I’m of the belief that no one should EVER relish in it, LoL.
With Tyler, I was sick from about 6 weeks until the day of my c-section [was sick 3 times that day]…and this pregnancy, I started feeling sick about week sick as well…and at a little over 13 weeks, I’m still puking 5-10 times a day, every day.
Hopefully it’s a beautiful sign for you and the baby - but one that passes VERY quickly. Many positive thoughts your way!
Yeah that’s exactly how I felt when I was pregnant with Drew. I never had morning sickness with either of my girls though. It’s ick-tastic anit it? lolol
I’m with Nancy…in fact, if I remember correctly, I called it progesterone poisoning…good for the baby, icky for you. And yes, around 7-8 weeks was when mine really started revving up, and it finally eased up around 12 weeks. Like you, I never puked, just felt queasy all freaking day long. I’m feeling sympathetically congratulatory for you. Oh, and hard sour candy (like Lifesavers or Jolly Ranchers) were the only thing that helped me, FWIW.
Shoot. I didn’t finish confirming my gravatar before I commented. Let’s see if this one works.
I had to look up in my journal I kept then (http://www.geocities.com/dorifam/pregnancyjournal.html) but it looks like I was very actively throwing up by 8 weeks. Happy (as much as you can be while vomiting!) morning sickness vibes!! They say that means good things for the babe

#56 to say that yes indeed sickness at 7 weeks…perfectly normal.
Child #1’s pregnancy it hit at 7 weeks and went until 11 weeks.
Child to be #2’s pregnancy it hit at 6 weeks and went until 10 weeks.
Caffiene free Coke really helped me. The bubbles mixed with the cola supposedly is a remedy for many!!
When I was pregnant with my first, I had not one little hint of morning sickness. When I was pregnant with my second (both boys) I was so ill that I had to quit working and stopped driving completely (after throwing up while going 45 mph. Scary).
I’d offer suggestions, but nothing other than time helped me. Good luck, my virtual friend.
I have heard goog things about those lollipops.
Maybe you should try them.
*GOOD* things!
I’m super-late commenting, but I didn’t start feeling sick with Alliclaus until about seven weeks. Morning sickness sucks, but I am so excited for you. You know as well as I do what a good sign it is!
