NaBloPoMo: Making Memes Awesome Since 2006
I was tagged by WonderSpot and during NaBloPoMo, tagging is good because it means: Blog Material! Without having to think! Especially since I’ve only posted 44 entries this month and my goal is 100. So, without further ado, “List one fact, word or tidbit that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your first or middle name. You can theme it to your blog or make it general. Then tag one person for each letter of your name.”
I’m going to use the first name I was born (Kimberly) with so as to (a) Avoid the letter “Z” and (b) Give me more than three letters since I actually go by “Kim”.
K: Knoxville
It was the city I was born and raised in. I’ve been gone long enough now that I no longer use “Knoxville” when people ask where I’m from. But, I fall back on it often, especially when people around here ask me if I root for The Tide or Auburn. I always respond, “I was born and raised in Knoxville. My blood runs orange and white.” I return to Knoxville several times a year, but wouldn’t if my family didn’t live there.
I: Inked
I have three tattoos and I think about them often. I would like to get each of them touched up. The one on my ankle has faded areas where I repeatedly cut myself shaving. The one on my back has faded a bit. The one on my shoulder I would like to have someone change a bit of it so I can add more at a later date. I would also like to have color added to it. I have never regretted getting any of them and would have several more if I had the money. And if I could ever find a good tattoo person that I could trust.
M: Mom
That’s an easy one. I hear many people often talk about being more than a mother. But, I can’t ever honestly say that. Sometimes I’d like to be able to say there’s more to me than just a mother. But really? There’s not. I felt so incomplete in my teenage years. So lost. I got pregnant at 18 and somehow, the day LilZ was born, I felt like my life was suddenly…right. Like I had somehow found that piece of me that had been missing. I am a Mom. I feel like it is what I was born to be and that everything else in my life is secondary.
B: Bull-headed
I’m stubborn. I’m sure certain members of my family would like to add some adjectives like “very” or “extremely” or “annoyingly” in front of the word “stubborn” when describing me. It’s one of the qualities I resent the most. It makes me ugly and bitchy. It makes it very difficult for me to admit being wrong.
E: Emotional
Another quality that causes me problems. However, I’ve posted about this before and several of you have pointed out that being highly emotional is a GOOD thing because it can allow a person to be sincerely compassionate to someone elses pain. Which is very true. You know what has been making me cry a lot lately? Stupid OnStar ads. Hearing those distressed people call in for help, or hearing the OnStar person calling the driver after an airbag alert, it freaks me out and I’ll cry immediately and always wonder if they’re okay. Oh – and don’t EVEN get me started on the uber-awesome email I got from my mother-in-law this morning thanking me for the flowers NikkiZ and I brought to her yesterday. It was just a sweet and simple “Thank You” email but it had me crying at my desk for a good 15 minutes.
R: Red
It’s my favorite color. It’s the color I would dye my hair regularly if my husband didn’t hate it. It’s the color I would paint every wall in my house and the color I would wear every day if it didn’t look so crappy on me. I love Red.
L: Low-Maintenance
I’ve always been kinda proud of the fact that I can roll out of bed and walk out the door in about five minutes. Give me time to smoosh my hair back into a bun and throw on some non-pajama clothes and I’m ready to go. I don’t require nice clothes (or clean clothes for that matter) and I my purses come from the outdoor store and my shoes come from Target. We don’t have to budget my make-up because I buy the stuff you can buy at the grocery store. And even then it’s only foundation, powder, and mascara. I use generic face soap and Dove moisturizer. It just doesn’t take a lot to keep this face beautiful, you know. (Sarcasm intended.) I just like that I could be spontaneous and go camping one night and not worry about cosmetics or hair. I’m sure it’s a quality MrZ would like to adjust (“Honey? Don’t you at least want to shower?”) but it’s something I like about me.
Y: Young.
My age just doesn’t bother me. Sometimes I think I might be “too old” to pull off certain fashion choices, but really? I feel pretty young and never mourn passing birthdays. I don’t mind swinging at the park or finger-painting and I still like to dress up on Halloween.

I know Virginia is a WEE bit far away, but if you’re ever in the neighborhood, the guy who is working on Andy (my boyfriend)’s half sleeve, is GREAT. He has a VERY soft touch and does wonderful work.
OMG- totally started bawling during the OnStar commercial on my way home the other day… must be the hormones
Also? the low-maintenance thing totally applies. I can be ready in 5 minutes, too. Andy sometimes asks if I “forgot” to put my make-up on. Oh, OOPS, did I?
I can get ready in about 20 mins…but I do shower so you got me on that one.
I know a FANTASTIC place for tats…I have gotten 4 of my 6 done there it is here in NOLA so if you make it this way again and are interested in looking/talking to the people let me know!
I mourn all of my birthdays, but that is only because with each passing year it means it will be harder and harder to have a child. Since I am single with no prospects…yeah…do the math it ain’t pretty.
I totally use your conditioner only trick now. Not all the time, but at least every other day. My curls have improved drastically!
What does getting inked feel like? What made you decide to do it? How old were you when you did it?
Maria
I’m low maintenancce too. I can be dressed and out of the house in 15 minutes. My husband takes twice as long as I do, and I’m quite proud of that fact
Oh, and my 15 minutes include a shower.
I am SO stealing this for my Wednesday Meme next week.
This is a cute meme. Since I’m running out of stuff to say for every day in November (why did I agree to do this again?), I may yoink it from you.
I’m pretty low maintenance too, but not by choice – I’m always scared I’ll be late for something – and I try to NEVER be late
Also, I am emational, borderline dramatic
Oh my gosh, those stupid OnStar commercials make me cry too.
Love this list. You mentioned many things that make you so likeable!! Emotional, bull-headed, low-maintenance and your love of being a mom – all things we have in common.
Thanks for the list and the idea (I’m stealing it, by the way). haha
Have a great night.
Great MEME (and great Name!) I may need to steal this one!
Man, I should have done “low maintenance,” too. So much better than lucid. Sigh.
Well done, and thanks!
Well done.
You know, I think I’d be just begging for the short version, but I’m a much lazier blogger than you
This is really cool, and I like what it says about you (and I like you!
)
I’ve been wanting to get my one tattoo re-touched. It’s on my ankle too and has faded in the sun. It’s almost been 10 years since I got it.
But I am afraid to go just anywhere. And on top of it, it is Arizona State’s mascot Sparky. And I got it done in AZ, so they were all familiar. In Chicago? Not so much.
my purses come from the outdoor store
Oh lord, I used to live at the Army/Navy surplus. I’m low-to-no maintenance, too. They have some pretty good quality basics like tees and I love pea coats.
I’ve become more low maintenance as I’ve gotten older. I don’t really wear make-up so much anymore. I think my skin actually looks a little healthier without it, and things like lip-liner and mascara just slow me down.
Want to talk emotional….me tearing up just reading about you being emotional and onstar commercials and a sweet MIL. *sniff*
Heh. I suppose I could have used “high-maintenance” for one of my Hs! Anyhow, I did one too! Thanks for some NaBloPoMo fodder
Ur meme?
I stolez it.
I did not read the comments, but, since you have to drive to Georgia and all. I have an awesome guy for you to see. He has done four out of my five tattoos. And will do the fifth, sixth, etc.
Let me know!
And being a Meme Whore, I am totally doing this one!
This is a great Meme. One of the better ones I’ve seen in quite a while. You definitely did it justice, Zoot. I would like to see how you handle the Z. And two Os in a row … Maybe in a later post.
Oh. My. God.
I cannot believe what I just read!!!!!
I cry when I hear OnStar commercials too! I get ridiculed non-stop for it.
Its funny because I KNOW it’s dumb, and I think about it and I’m so confused by it, but then as soon as I hear one of those damn people in distress, the tears start comin’.
Haha, I thought I was the only person in the world like that!
