Office Supplies: The Cure All
Category: About Me, NaBloPoMo - '07, Office supply addict |

You know what I did yesterday? I spent 45 minutes trying to figure out why something didn’t work getting flustered and stressed, investigating solutions, only to realize it did work, I just wasn’t patient enough to wait and see the results.

So, to make up for it, do you know what I did? I went to Staples. With my kids.

As we pulled into the Staples parking lot, LilZ and I were joking with NikkiZ that this was our church. I said, “Some people go to religious churches to commune with others of the same religion, some go into nature where they’ll be closer to their God. We? Go to Staples.” It’s just one of those places where we all walk in and it’s like nothing bad happened that day. We can buy new pens! Or calendars! LilZ and I both bought journal type notebooks, knowing full well we’ll probably only use them for a week. We bought NikkiZ art stuff for Christmas. We walked around and laughed and mocked and make our wishlists for Santa.

And I personally walked out feeling much better.

A true sign I’m a total dork.

I can relate. New stationary or writing instruments are a quick pick me up. Just browsing works too.

    I love Staples!

Who doesn’t like shiny new office supplies?! I think it’s great you’re indoctrinating NikkiZ early.

Staples (or, really, any office supply store) can make me smile everytime. Something about the smell of fresh paper, new pencils, and all those little gadgets no one ever *needs* but that look so shiny and helpful… Ah, bliss. A cure-all for unhappiness for me as well!

I love office supply stores. I’ve been wanting to hit one for a while, but am afraid of how much I will spend. But the ink cartridge in my printer is getting low, so I guess I better go.

For me, it’s pens. Especially gel ink ones. And Post Its - must have Post Its (and they cannot be generic).

Not a total dork!! If I called you that, I’d have to call myself the same! I love office supplies!! Yea for Staples!

I will join you in dorkdom - being president of our school’s PTO has simply tripled my visits to “big S” as we call it in our house - there is just so much organizing and writing that needs to be done!

Dude- I LOVE office supplies. LOVE. I was one of those kids excited about fresh new notebooks every year. In college, every notebook was a different color, and I kinda associated the colors with the subjects.
I ADORE pens…and tend to have a hard time throwing old/used ones away.
    I hoard paper, too….
I mean- I go to an actual church, but I do really really love office supplies. They’re something we dorks can be thankful for! :)

I don’t think I have a Staples where I am. It’s Office Depot, right? You know what I love? (Witness the apex of my dorkdom.) Those three-ring binders. And notebooks. And pens. And that they still sell the ribbons for that 15-year-old IMB typewriter.

One of my greatest joys in working in a law firm is the supply closet. Pens in every color, highlighters, post its in multiple colros, little tab sticker thingies, legal pads, folders, dividers… such a joy to behold.

  13. Heather Says:

Sadie’s job sounds a little bit like heaven ;)
I really like having my laptop for taking note for school, but I’m very sad that it leaves me few excuses for buying new notebooks and coloured pens! (To organize, you know. I will not understand unless I can underline in contrasting colours.)

I sent you my link! Am I still getting spammed?

  15. Moogie Says:

Nope…not a dork. You and your family just know what makes you happy. I’m with you on the journals. I start off writing everything down…and then just stop….oh well..it gives the girls something to draw/write on anyway. :)

Target is my church, so I understand what you mean perfectly. Man do I love Target!

Hannah asked me to go Notebook shopping this weekend, that may have been my proudest parenting moment ever

We don’t have staples in the UK but we do have Paperchase whose hand made paper section is like a version of paperheaven. A superstore of office supplies sounds boggling to me, all that choice????

I’m kinda obsessed with calendars. I have no idea why. Half the time I still couldn’t tell you the date!
