I give thanks for Thanksgiving

Everyone in my family made it into town safely and we’re all getting up early to run the Turkey Day 5K. Well, everyone but me, of course. Then we’ll come home and eat all day. Perfect combination. Run, then eat.

LilZ’s pumpkin pies turned out so good. We sampled them yesterday since he won’t be here today and it didn’t seem fair for him not to get any. And we wanted to make sure they turned out okay. And they did. They were awesome.

I’ve still got several casseroles to prepare but I did a lot of my preparation yesterday. I would have done more if I had managed to sucessfully purchase everything I needed. But, of course, I forgot several key ingredients. Because it is physically impossible for me to get everything I need in less than 8 trips.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

Happy Thanksgiving, Zoots! I’m glad LilZ’s pies turned out. He should share his recipe? ;-) And if your family’s going to run and eat – at least they’re not going to eat and run! (Groan.) Hope you guys have a fantastic weekend!

We do the morning run as well and it has been a great addition to our thanksgiving tradition… Next year, I promised the kids I would run with them. *gulp*

I just used the Libby’s recipe. There is a creepy video online. The lady that does it laughs at the end and it’s super scary! I think it’s like at verybestcooking.com. Gosh, I’m sounding like an old lady, sharing recipes.

@ LilZ, I love the verybestcooking website. Those Nestle recipes are awesome. You should try the Gingerbread Butterscotch cookies.

And if I ever meet any of your friends, I will never tell that you were exchanging recipes with old ladies online.

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
